Sure but if you check the pictures from after ss2 there is pretty much no damage (visibly).
That damage has been done over time by driving on the wheel with damage.
And the strut and wish bone is not rally ending kind of damage. Remember Lefvebre with similar kind of damage continued a few years ago.
There must be more damage we can not see somewhere.

Back when loeb and ogier started, the jump was from fwd s1600 or kitcar to wrc. I would say the jump is a lot easier nowadays, the driving style between rc2 and rc1 is similar and the speed...
