It's been said that since Toyota had to change the Yaris' rear-wing some of its superiority has reduced. Also having no 'benchmark' driver with the team now may make it harder for Ogier to know how his pace is in testing.

Neuville seems very happy to have Tanak join his team, so probably knows how tricky the car is to set-up for newcomers, and how its optimised for his driving-style.

    I just give Neuville favourite.

They could ask latvala or meeke to test it once more. They'll have their benchmark immediately.

I think a benchmark driver might be required more than just once - there are 3 very different rallies coming at the start of the season. And I doubt Meeke and Latvala would be too happy to help out the guy that's just taken their seats...

Doesn't matter, he achieved his dream and goal - he became WRC world champion.

And what is your problem with that? Many drivers are associated with various manufacturers but it doesn't make them any less talented.
Kankkunen probably remembered as a Toyota driver, Alen Lancia, McRae Subaru, Makinen Mitsubishi and so on. Ogier will be remembered as the VW guy, despite winning WC with Ford (and maybe Toyota). All of those guys drove for many other manufacturers.

And I'm afraid Martin doesn't carry much truck with me anymore, given his comments of late regarding Tanaks team mates. One of which has won many more rallies than he ever did, the other has won the same amount of rallies. Neither of them have had such a catastrophic incident either.
