Could someone explain me what's with the constant "excuse the language" remarks every time someone uses a bit stronger language. The reason why it's annoying me is that it brings more attention to what was said. Like otherwise you'd just glide over the fact that someone cursed, but when someone emphasis it by apologising ...

I have never understood that, it seems to be British thing.

It's a broadcasting thing, if they don't acknowledge/apologise in some way it can be seen as accepting that it's ok. Just covering themselves.
