Roman Kresta leaves WRC
Roman Kresta, Ford factory driver in 2005 and Ford test driver in 2006 has decided to leave WRC. He quit Ford and it is rumoured that he will come back to Czech championship to compete in a Mitsubishi Lancer.
It is not official news, but maybe some Czech forum member will confirm it.

That's a pity. He has send me last week a letter with a postcard from the Barum Rally 2006 and a poster from the Focus WRC in his full season 2005...

Sounds more like he can't get a drive, rather than he decided to quit.
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.

He was wasting his time developing a shoddy S1600 car and got no reward from Ford for doing it. I honestly believe if he had been given another season he would have been a regular top 6 finisher.

I do not agree. Kresta has potential, he showed it.
He did not achieve to fully show it.Zeque

yeah, i liked the way the guy was going, at least on tarmac (remember his private 206 days?). he just seemed to have a little something in the mental that was holding him back though.

He had problems with not so lot of starts in WRC. Most of events, when he started with Ford, was his first time there. He was so nervous on some events (Monte, Greece, NZ), but in other events he was doing, what Malcolm Wilson wanted. But, like with other drivers, his main problem are money. His manager obtained very good financial offer before season 2006, but stopped support for it :-( I think, with competition of WRC championship this year, Roman could have been in top three...
