    Info needed on "JR."

Some time ago, a few years actually, JR. had a drinking problem and more. A post on another site reminded me about this. He apparently missed meetings, was not going to the shop, etc.

Can anybody shed any more light on this subject!!

Just curious thats all! It was news at the time!

That's news to me. He's been pretty well known for his partying but most kids go through that sort of thing. Sometimes rumors are just that.

    Cool

You are probably thinking about Al Unser Jr. Famous name and family in racing. Had a big time drinking problem.

    Nope! Not Unser Jr.

Dale Jr. was apparently so bad they hired a "bodyguard" to keep track of him. Also understand his sponsor built a bar in JR.'s house to keep him and his friends close to home.

Dale Jr likes to have a beer or a few with his friends and he always did.
But Dale Jr never had a drinking problem as you describe.
Yes, Dale Jr does have a bar in his home but he is a social drinker, not the drunken bum you are implying.

I'll slam on Dale Jr when he deserves it but to say Dale Jr has a drinking problem is incorrect.

The only thing that recall is...

Dale Sr. saying he was going to let Jr. drive at night when they drove the Corvettes at the Daytona/Rolex 24 hour race. Dale Sr's reasoning was that...

Jr. was use to staying up at night, anyway !!!

This is... Old news... all kids go through the Partying stage.

That sounds like a steaming pile of malicious BS to me.

Sounds like B.S. to me too. Jr I believe was no different than most youngsters including me when it came to partying and running around. Thankfully, most of us outgrow it.

I would think if he had a drinking issue that was a problem, it would have surfaced in ways that would be obvious long before now.

Jr. admitted he liked to party and be a goof in his younger days, he was/is very open about it. He also is now of an age where he likely has lost interest in that and from all accounts has. We have all done it.

Guessing on an internet forum like you hope it is true is just plain tacky......

Jr. is not a drunk....unlike Al Unser Jr., who apparently is. I wouldn't wish alcoholism on anyone, but I am pretty sure that you couldn't compete in NASCAR at this level for any length of time with a drinking issue....
