Just had a thought after I posted, you could put someone who has no clue about rally and barely even speak english just to ask "How was the stage for you" every time and then say thank you after the driver finishes and it would be better than some.

Stage end reporting is the most difficult, in my opinion. If you've got someone feeding you information what has happened, then you've got a chance to come up with a sensible question. But sometimes it feels like the most banal question (How was the stage) is the best one as you are giving the driver freedom to reply whatever is on their mind at the end of the stage.
Regarding commenting, feels like they need a complete shakeup to their roster of regular commentators.Never stop dreaming because one day it might happen.

The non-stop talking is still my big issue.
What's the point in having the audio feed from the car (co-driver reading the pace-notes) when Becs and Co. just talk over them 99% of the time ?
They should only comment when something special happens to the car/crew on screen or some news comes in. Fans know the rally situation and can see info like times and splits on the screen.#M-SPORTER

9/10 times when stage end reporters try with an advanced question they get "I don't understand/can't hear you". Sometimes you even wonder if drivers do it on purpose to avoid the question.
So "How was the stage?" or "What happened?' might even be best. The only interesting thing could be in asking a good follow-up question.

How about adding an own "intercom interview plug" near the door.
Drivers won't have to struggle with the helmet/HANS and won't have issues hearing questions. You could even get answers from codrivers.
Only "issue" is that they won't be able to put on sponsor caps.

Well Porter is actually really good at spotting damage/issues that are hard to see.
Unlike those two that couldn't see Østbergs puncture on the wheel closest to camera on a slow speed corner in Sardinia.
