No, he had problems with handbrake, so he must use clean line on stage

Breen's and Ancian's penalty's are for an early check in at SS3 & is an unfortunate mistake by the co drivers that can't be reversed.
I dont think penalties for Breen and Ancian were for early check at SS 3. But... Breen was starting behind Olivier Burri if I remember correct and Jérémi Ancian was starting behind Breen. So Craig should have smaller penalty than Ancian, if we are talking about late arrival to TC 2.

According to my info, both crews were stopped by police on liaison between SS 1 and SS 2. And not because of speeding, but "dangerous driving" (overtaking cars on full line, maybe going on red light on lights). Despite there was very short time for this liaison, big traffic and work on the road (everybody was complaining about it), only Breen and Ancian had problems with penalty. In this case I dont agree with possible cancelling of this penalties. But we will see tomorrow, I will try to check more info about it.

Now I have checked, that penalties on TC 2 were really cancelled for Breen and Ancian (I dont agree with this decision !), but both had penalties for early check. So maybe truth found the correct way...

This rally is another big lesson for Breen (and Vaneste)...there's more to winning rallies than driving fast ...

Better to learn this here that at a more important rally in the future.

I think it is his first start with R4. Last year he was starting with S2000 (bad results on Ypres and Barum, good result on Valais) and that was all. I think this is his first start with regular car this year. Till now he was doing only few events with historic Ford Escort RS 2000. And he is not using his regular codriver from previous years, so lot of new things...

Ancian is the surprise of the rally so far. He would be leader by nearly 18 seconds without his penalty

This season in ERC also shows how much more difficult it is to win a rally in ERC than in SWRC. Both Breen and Kubica won SWRC quite easily, but failed to win even a single rally in ERC.

Very true, and that is even with this years ERC, which has not really been up to the standard of past IRC seasons.
