This is the Premiership of British Rallying, if the speccies paid more then the entry fees could come down and more crews could afford to enter.

Which other sport has it's partcipants paying to entertain the fans?
There are not many events I can think of that speccie money ends up with the organising club that would allow the entry fees to be reduced/subsidised. The Forestry commission take parking fees to fill their kitty, and most other events allow charities to take the entrance money. I dont think many fans would argue about paying money if they thought it would benefit the event directly and allow fuller entries and even pay for some overseas crews to attend and increase competition for crews in the BRC. The JMCR is one such event that donates the speccie money to local "causes" as part of an enhanced PR campaign to keep the goodwill of the locals onside.

Ironically one of the healthiest championships in the World , the Irish Tarmac Championship doesn't charge it's fans for access to the stages and they dont have a problem attracting full entries and reserves and that is in part due to the fact that they dont have any pretentions about being a feeder series to the WRC and therefore limit their entry to Grp N and R3 cars.

And as for calling the BRC premier league...!!!

chicken/egg story really, fans want a show, the show needs sponsors, sponsors want an audience/fans, right now it sounds like the BRC has very little any of these 3 things, it isnt the premiership of anything, its sad to see what this once great championship has been reduced to

These championships have been reduced to this because of the big wigs or people who think they know everything in the top positions in british motorsport,
yes some people do know what there on about but about 70% are there because when it was going good they thught they should be apart of it and its the same with motorsport Ireland there are people in that who are in it because they think there somebody because there in it and again of course there are some people who know what they are on about but the others are going to bring the ITC down the same slow death that the brc is taking

Best thing that could be done for the brc is despand the whole thing, and start from scratch, let the wrc's back in let the best cars be used by the best british drivers get the championship back to what it used to be, all the best drivers in the world used to do the brc and know the only time u see them is for wales rally GB

If you judge an event purely on what cars enter go to a Single Venue, heaps of 6R4s and WRC cars there.

If someone feels a fee to spectate is too much, then don't go, simple as that. The organising club won't miss you and other than the odd push back on the road neither will the competitors.

The BRC is the top flight of British Rallying just as the Premiership is the top flight of British football, granted it's not as big as it was in the olden days or even the F2 days but it is still the top of the pile of British rallying.

European events can offer free entries that are subsidised by spectators and sponsors, of course that'll never happen in Britain for British crews as our fans are more worried about spending a few quid to watch the sport.

Sponsors(real ones, not your mate/relative giving you help) are interested in spectator numbers, to say they arent missed on events is nonsense, the BRC is dying for lack of interest, its only the 'top flight' in its organisers minds.

If the decline continues at the current pace they soon may be able to run perfect events free of both competitors and spectators :-)

The british historic championship is better than the BRC and i would consider it to be the best championship in british ralling.

There's more WRCs entered than last year anyway, plus the S2000 Toyota. I may be tempted to go down and see it again. The endless conveyor belt of Evos and WRXs with their whining transmissions and squeaky brakes bored me a bit tbh.
    You lot still here?!

Can't see the sponsors being all that interested in people who can't afford the programme cost or to pay to park their cars away from the access roads.

The sponsors are a lot more interested in television and coverage in the press than some bloke stood on the corner with a bobble hat on.
