I have always prefered the West Mclaren Black & Silver 1997-2005 to the currant silver chrome & Red 2006-today.

To me the best of all time was the 1991 season. All the cars were beautiful in design and the liveries were wonderful.

All these cars I forgot about. 1994 Larrousse. Unusual split into quarters a bit like Blackburn Rovers shirts.

Actually, that was never a requirement per the CSI regarding the International Racing Formula 1 or the World Championship for Drivers, the various clubs organizing the races being the one deciding such things. This led, of course, to Scotland's colors being identical to those of the R.R.C. Walker Racing Team entries and various shades of green, blue, and red for the British, French, and Italian entries as well.

I'm not so sure about that. At any one time you would be unlikely to see more than 3 or 4 colours out of the palette of Italian red, French blue, German white/silver, British green, US blue and white, Dutch orange, Belgian yellow and the more esoteric ones such as Spanish red and yellow. There are lots of photos of grids in the late 50's and early 60's with a field comprising three red cars and the rest in various shades of green with different coloured stripes.

As poorly as the cars performed, I actually really liked the Spyker livery:

They came at a time when there were three or four teams with dark blue as the predominant colour of their design, so the Spykers really stood out.

    -------

I also really liked Virgin Racing's original design:

Those swirls and flourishes really made the livery something unique.

    -------

Super Aguri also had a really nice design:

The application of the colours really seemed to compliment the car.

    -------

When Vitaly Petrov managed to keep it out of the barriers, the Renault R30 looked good, too:

I think it's because they made the vertical lines work, which I wasn't expecting since the car would be travelling horizontally.

    -------

And although they're not a Formula 1 team, I think Barwa Addax's GP2 cars also look good:

I think it's because, like Spyker, they took an under-used colour - in this case, light blue - and used it well.

I agree with this Bruce. The cars somehow look very modern and advanced for their time, looking at what went in the years just before.

    But you forgot the JORDAN!
