That Lotus Indy-thingy is just hideous! It's begining to blurr the distinction between open wheeler and LMP 1 cars, IMO.
F1 whilst ugly, are at least blessed with the look of a racing car, whilst the Lotus thing looks a little like an 80's design study.

Formula One could be rid of the stepped nose ahead of next season after Charlie Whiting revealed that even the FIA finds the design ugly.

The redesigned nose is a response to the FIA directive that the front end be lowered. Most teams took the creative approach to implement the “stepped” nose to achieve this while maintaining the height downstream of the bulkhead.

Blaming the FIA is easy but considering Brawn is much respected his response he makes it clear the teams had a say in the regulation but could not agree on the implementation, made their excuses so the FIA stepped in. The teams are as much to blame as the FIA.
