The other DS3 R1 was with a slow driver, and the Fiesta R1 got binned on SS4..

I haven't saw any video's or action pics of the crash so far.
But were we (=Mousti and I) stood on SS1, he was the only one to take a very fast and very muddy left corner flat out! So no surprise it ended up badly

I think the suspension is the biggest issue of the R1 cars.
R1 is the absolute entry category into rallying and will be pretty much similar to the Saxo/106 ex-group N2.
Probably the Fiesta R1 is the best and the cheapest in this list so far. Elfyn Evans was much faster than the two DS3 R1 in Condroz despite the first time on this event for him.

Much faster? Ok, on the 1st stage 4s, on the third stage 3s, on the second stage Demaerschalk-DS3 had a problem and lost a lot of time. But on the 4th stage Evans crashed the car already... Demaerschalk was driving the event for the third time, but it was his first event with a new codriver. You should not make a comparison between 2 cars based on one event where you have no comparison between the 2 drivers yet.

Yes, Tommeke_B, Elfyn Evans was not much faster than the DS3 R1 drivers on this rally. He was simply faster on a rally where he debuted with a car that also debuted. On a rally like this one which is, let's say, <specific> the local knowledge of the roads + the participation from some previous editions is giving some advantage isn't it ? You know what to expect from the stages, know how to set up properly your car, tire choice, even the road conditions info from some friends on the stages...
Yes, it's crazy to make comparison from so little feedback. More rallies will give more information for the performance and the differences of the R1 cars. My mistake.

What prices are on the different R1 cars. 1 ready to go, 2 selfbuilding?
Resume of the Sezoensrally 2024 with a lot of gravel section with "tarmac spec" cars. Snijers was back on the Porsche GT3 :D https://youtu.be/iakv_yen-68
