Both in Germany, today is the anniversary of Niki Lauda's accident at Bergwerk. Courage is something that to "Super Rat" is normal.

I like Niki Lauda. His dry humour. The way he changed Ferrari, building a foundation that pioneered the Schumi way possible.

He retired then returned to a different era and won his third title - it is the same that Schumi is trying today.

Where were you when you learnt of Schumi's accident? People like myself remember exactly.

We also remember the names of Brett Lunger, Arturo Merzario and Guy Edwards.

It is not unusual that Lauda and Hunt were best of friends from their f2 days until and through f1 - and shock and horror would be found during a race weekend sitting in each other's garages. OMG!!!!

Lauda always gave away his trophies after a grand prix - most of then to his local garage owner.

On August 1 1980 someone that was a RACING DRIVER to his core, Frenchman Patrick Depailler died at Hockenheim while testing the beautiful F1 Alfa Romeo.

They have both enriched my life for being who they are - I say thank you - I am very lucky
