Exclamation Top 35 in Owners Points

Looks like there's going to be a huge change in the top 35 in owners points.

Around the top 35 mark after 4 races:

    31. 26 Jamie McMurray (+38)
    32. 44 Dale Jarrett (+29)
    33. 96 JJ Yeley (+24)
    34. 70 Jeremy Mayfield (+21)
    35. 55 Michael Waltrip (+14)
    36. 77 Sam Hornish Jr. (-14)
    37. 22 Dave Blaney (-15)
    38. 40 Dario Franchitti (-24)
    39. 01 Regan Smith (-56)
    40. 45 Kyle Petty (-77)

Disappointed to see Blaney outside the top 35. Should hopefully get himself out next week if he runs well at Bristol. I reckon Mayfield and Yeley will drop out next week while Blaney and Hornish could get in.

All the teams behind Kyle Petty I don't think have a shot at getting in the Top 35 now.

What do you think will happen?
I solumly swear I'm up to no good

Realistically it would take a top 20 race finish for Hornish, Blaney or Franchitti, a top 15 for Smith or a top 10 for anyone else to break into the "top 35", (assuming the other guys have their usual mid pack finishs.)

Jamie McMurray finished 43rd @ Bristol & dropped 5 spots to 36th in owner’s points.
Sam Hornish Jr finished 29th @ Bristol but captilized on McMurray’s misfortune,
Hornish moved back into the top 35 (35th) in owner’s points going to Martinsville .....

Latest from Jayski, neither Petty or Roush currently plan to swap owner points from their championship drivers.

Good. Anyone that abuses the champ provisional just isn't a true racer in my eyes.

I wish they'd limit the Past Champion's Provisional to only champions over the last 5 or 10 years.

That is, if they are going to have a Past Champion's Provisional at all. It is the most abused rule that NASCAR has.

Nascar needs to return to the system of the 80s and 90s. time in the quickest 40 teams then have 41 and 42 be the standard highest owner's points provisonals. perhaps also bring back two rounds of qualifying to give a measure of protection against a fluke failure in the first round.

fnow or the 43rd postion how's this for entertainment: dump the champion's provisional and bring back a short track staple, the promoter's option. who wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall in room where it's being decided whom of two teammates races or goes home. or perhaps two past champions?

or under this scenario, given the current points situation what if Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon both had disastrous qualifying rounds. i'd pay ringside heavyweight championship fight ticket prices to sit in on that debate.
