    Cool Oscars!

Crying women, smug producers and golden statuettes ... I love the Academy Awards.

Most of all I'm looking forward to pulling a face at Keira Whatsit's boney frame poking out of a dress made from gauze , George Clooney pretending he doesn't mind not winning (bless him and his good nature ) and Johnny Depp in a tux

Everyone loves the Oscars, don't they? :

I've lost my last drop of respect for Oscars when I saw that one of the best movies of last year " 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days " wasn't nominated.
I have a feeling that Atonement will win. It's a sort of a brother of Titanic.

I'd rather watch the french Cesar awards tonight.

I always wondered why do they continue giving those golden statues when the quality of the movies went lower and lower every year?!
What's the use of glorifying some poor movies (there are exceptions too, not to many however).

As for seeing Keira Knightley, well that is always a pleasure for those who value real beauty!

Not many, it's a very exclusive club............

    http://oscars.about.com/od/historytr...rmem122504.htm

"Membership in the Academy normally fluctuates between 6,000 and 6,500 voting members"

"The majority of the members are from the United States of America,...."

So true. New movies bore the crap out of me mainly

Squaredly put, the Oscar for "Best Picture" will be between 'Atonement' and 'No Country for Old Men'.

Golden Globes was a good primer for the Oscars, mainly who and what would be considered the top contenders for each category. Now, it's just the matter of waiting for Sunday night to see who takes home the statues.
Defend mediocrity... because excelence is just too hard to achieve. :p

No Country for Old Men will take the Oscar for best picture and Daniel Day Lewis for best Actor. Those are safe bets. Coen brothers get something, probably for screenplay but I hope for directing too.

Had a look at the betting this morning and those two appear nailed on favourites.

Daniel Day Lewis is a massive 12/1 on (put twelve on to win thirteen back including stake) while second favorite is Johnny Depp as 10/1 against. Talk about an unbalanced, unfair book - that Oscar is a legal way to print money for bookies :
