so he went off because he hadnt got steering. Not lucky we can say.
Not that much Suninens fault here...
I see that while braking he was a bit too much on the right side..
But I would say a bit unlucky also.
I would like to see videos of others aproaching the corner
On onboard you can see tree stump far in the grass. But on the video footage from outside it doesnt seems that he was that far in grass
Okey, but these mistakes are quite common for Beginners. Yes, Suninen is quite experienced right now, but for example, Evans was struggling 5-6 years in Rally1 until he started to be consistent
I feared this would happen with Suninen when he said "I have to drive faster" at the end of the previous stage...
I would give him more seat time, then he could be so good
Small margins... a centimetre or two in and he'd probably have been fine. A harsh punishment after a fine (and just 3rd drive) in the Rally1..
Based on past we all feared it coming and it came. It was not just the sentense at the end of previous stage. For me it's "Friday hero" side-effect - on Fridays he shows good stage-times from good road position and it may feel like "oh I can do it!". Then on Saturday and further comes reality from equal road position "shit, what happened, on Friday I was able to do it, so I need to improve" and then overdriving happens under pressure.
For me it was clear personal mistake and I'm not sure if it's better if he was pushing or not pushing...
You can imagine, what kind of cruising should take place if there could be no extra points for last stage.
Came in now.
Maybe Teemu did mistake. But he proved himself a Rally1 driver anyway.
Maybe biggest fault was the never given team order.
yes, don't chop his head off, or fire him from Hyundai, but maybe a bit more "encouragment" to finish the rally would have been good
on the other hand I think he somehow put it in his head to beat Neuville, which is not necessary in my opinion. If he finished 10s behind Neuville it would have been 100x better than the current situation.
For Teemu, It was not tree stump, there are no tree stump in Chile like this. There is water pipe under the road and they are using vertical wooden poles around it to avoid erosion with heavy rain (Lappis place was similar thing made of concrete), so, he basically turned the wheel slightly too early and that got stuck behind this thing.
Greensmith was pretty on it, let's see what the others can do.
Sometimes a mistake might not be big, but the consequences are, it's just how rallying is. Cut 2 cm too much - broken suspension, retired. Spin the car 10 m into a field - hit nothing, carry on.
Suninen could have done better, but was also unlucky for these consequences.
Congratulations to Oliver and Elliot, so happy for them!
Porter kept saying Heller will do a bunch of rallies with the Puma next year, now after all the issues Heller says he has to think about it, maybe 1 rally :D
Very big congrat to the victory in WRC2.
Oliver is on his way to be mature driver, handling things around him better and better.
Now let's hope that Evans don't bin it like Suninen
edit: Evans finished, really strong second part from Rovanperä
So does this mean Toyota win the championship after the power stage?
Kalle is PS master
It's been so long and makes such a change... seeing that blue car coming through to win again is a giving me goosebumps.
Great job Ott, Martin and all at M-Sport. :champion:
congratulations to Tanak and MSport! happy for them! What would the title fight look like now without the technical failures?
Yes. Ott and Martin did a very good job Congratulations to them and MSport.
Chile should be in the calendar if I was to decide.
