Don't forget that, these places are like his garden, he know perfectly each meter of these road. Ogier could drive the same way without note here.

I repeat he is a rookie. Solberg and others also burnt the clutch in their late years. This kind of gearbox is very difficult.
4. Must I enumerate all the people who were consistently slower than Breen this week?
The hype rose mainly after one endurance test of Meeke, he was obviously not putting effort but some people got caught by how stable it looked (without direct comparison).Quote:
Citroen surprisingly slow, not a single good time. Especially, considering all the "video-hype" on this forum beforehand.
i can believe he remembered it, but i don't believe it was in his notes since there was nothing special about that corner.
you only describe what the road's like , and what could hurt you on the edge of the road (gravel, don't cut, full cut, don't go wide, ...).
they don't add notes like "wide field on exit".
that was a beautiful example of a corner that needed that note.
Tanak just made it back

Luckily there was snow in the last sector. Had it been dry Tänak would have been done for. After all the crap he at least deserved that bit of luck.

What a great sight. :)
The final split of SS17 was 5.76kms from the end. @OttTanak took 32.4secs from @DaniSordo in this sector to retain 3rd place. https://t.co/CUJYAUgpPz
Just awesome. My driver of the rally.
congrats to Ogier Ingrassia for the win,a little bit luck, but luck is with capables we use to say.
Tanak, very good driving,at early stages faster from Ogier with same tyres/car/team.Very promising for the rest of season. Also no mistakes in a rally with pressure due to champ.Pitty that his fiesta had several problems.
Neuville excellent pace, nice smooth drive while pushing, but catch some hot moments at some videos.Moments that everybody had,but he wasn't lucky.Again big promises for the rest season.
Sordo is Sordo, when slippery is not up to do the job.
Latvala, surprised that he didn't had major moments as he has used us.Maybe that he is in a team without the shadow of Ogier make good to his psychology? He done the job,he returned the car in one piece and with valuable data to analyse.
Meeke...what to say? pitty that after his crash was in safe mode, must be the 3rd? rally with driving error?
Lefebvre I cant see the reason he is in works seat.Try to remember something he had done to worth the seat, but cant.
Breen nice drive,he did all the rally without mistakes, but at some videos we saw some overdriving that he could avoid.
Evans excellent drive when circumstances allowed his tyres to perform.Didnt wait to win stages in straight fight with other fiestas, but we don't know yet if he had a tyre advantage. We keep it for future analysis.
Ogier did a great rally,he was always in touch with leader, and finally with a bit of luck he managed to take the win.For sure he deserves it with extra pressure of new team and not so much preparation for Monte.
About the cars now.
Hyundai seems that they are top, also the most reliable as I don't remember any problem at any car.
Fiesta not reliable, plenty of problems, and imho not as fast as hyundais right now.Ogiers driving wasn't as smooth as we have used, after so many videos I watched.
Toyota wasn't as fast as the others, when stages were drier, they were away from the stage winers, and there is where you will see the dynamic of a capable car. They were generaly reliable, except some small problems he had Latvala. Also powerfull enough as they were at same speed at long straights from videos with Hyundais and Fiestas.
c3 was a bit of mystery. Was fast enough at early stages at Meekes hands, but after his retirement we didn't saw some potential.Imho this has to be due to Meekes determination after the retire.Lefebvres stage win doesn't count for me as he was the only one with proper tyres for this only stage.Reliability problems too.
I keep all these in mind and see how they will evolute at next rallies.
Roll on Sweden,i cant wait!

Missed the powerstage because my phone didn't ring :( Anyways, unpopular opinion, but Latvala was my driver of the rally. In a slower car, with little testing time, he managed to control himself and his pace and got himself to second place without making mistakes. Truly a showcase of at least a desire for more consistency this year. Tanak a close second for me.

taking the chance from Barreis,as you see if M sport will to pay, he has the chances to win rallies/championships
of course even without the Ford backing,M sport is capable to produce a fast car,as they did it for years.
So no more excuses please, they are ''private team'' they don't have the resources etc
Its his choice if he wants to win and sell,or only sell.

Little comment from Tänak. He was running out of fuel in the way back to Monaco, sick car was useing more than intended. He switched the engine off driving down the mountains and had fumes when he reached pit area. Drama till the last meter.

The Redbull day 2 coverage didn't have any WRC2 just to give you a heads up, it's a bit annoying now that you have to watch both to get all the little bits that are different
DRAMA with Tänak, out of fuel before parc fermé. Luckly can get it in. What a rally....
anyone with a link for Tanak at power stage, it seems he outstanding performance at the end of that stage...according to the comments
Despite 1st day tragic incident (and permanent troubles with spectators all along the event), the rally was quite interesting, with proper MC winter drama.
Neuville did a remarkable job, putting Ogier into pressure and being mega fast on 1st and 2nd day tricky stages, but sadly wasn’t able to control the advantage, loosing concentration on the worst possible moment. Tanak heroic effort to keep a podium place was epic, and he proved he can be much more than just Ogier’s team mate. Breen did also a remarkable rally, showing he’s the one that should be driving the C3, alongside Meeke.
Congrats to Ogier, Ingrassia and, obviously, to Mr. Wilson and all MSport staff. Great job from Makinen and Toyota’s guys; the Yaris showed a nice pace and even if it seems to be the slowest, for sure it isn’t that far from the faster cars. Hope Matton is already making a proper reflection on Citroen’s disastrous rally; we need them fighting for victories, not just for PS points. Outstanding win for Mikkelsen in WRC2; it’d be great to see him on a ‘17 Polo!
Final thought: MC is a unique and iconic event, there’s no way WRC can go on without it, but, once for all, the FIA, the organizers and local authorities must control spectator’s behaviour. It’s not easy because it involves a mentally change, but it can be done if a proper plan is set up, like it was done in Portugal.
Not sure how much has been said about the stage cancellation this morning. But I honestly think the itinerary is as much to blame as the spectators.
Immediately after the last car went through on the first run the course opening vehicles were coming through for run two. I'd literally walked back down the stage for 5mins before Michelle Mouton's car came through, followed moments later by 000. People were everywhere and plenty more trying to get in. Tiny stage too with very few places for spectators - certainly in the opening kilometres where the organiser spectator zones were.
So I'd say that stage was a victim of the WRC's mentality where it all has to be finished by lunch on Sunday. If they'd had an extra hour maybe they could have maybe got it under control. But in such a short time there's no way they could guarantee it was safe.
Anyone else think the seat belts in the Yaris look much thinner than in all the other cars?
Wouldn't this mean there was more pressure (and therefore more pain) in an accident..
Might be me, but I just thought they looked odd. (And the colour doesn't match too!)
