same here + its the last gravel rally for this gen.cars :(
I'm super excited to see the rally, even if it was just any rally this season, the competition, the onboards of the new stages, the rally in these conditions...
recce accident for Solberg https://twitter.com/HartusvuoriWRC/s...623262723?s=20
would think such thing can happen in Argentina, Kenya etc.. (not in rally Finland) that random big vans go on stages while recce..(yes, I know recce is on public roads yadayada..)
Hopefully won't affect his rally too much..
When you thought you have seen just about anything...
Anyway, wishing them it turns out fine.
Actually the Safari Rally stages were on completely closed roads so such accident wouldn't have been even possible. I would guess Finland is the gravel rally with most daily usage on the roads, people living or having their jobs along the roads. We can only assume the truck was delivering or picking up something, which makes it completely reasonable to be driving the road.
Well what you can see from the picture is that one (both?) of them weren't driving on the right side of the road.
Which one of them did it is just a speculation.
Tänak got 5000 eur fine for speeding, 101kmh in 40 zone...
not nice, 5k for such speeding is like a gift..
Car no. 8 was driven at excessive speed on a public road on the evening of
Wednesday, 29 September 2021. The FIA Safety Tracking device recorded a
maximum speed of 101 km/h in a zone where the speed limit is 40 km/h.

Was this in connection with some test or why they were driving around in the racecar?
Anyway he is extremely lucky to only get a fine like this. The Finnish police specifically warned about speeding outside of stages beforehand.
The Finnish guys might add what fee he would get if he was stopped by police themselves. I believe at some point the fees in Finland were based on salary.
Tänak was supposedly setting up the light pods. It was reported that none of the Hyundai drivers tested in the dark during PET, while all Toyota drivers did so.
On our way driving through SS3/5 we caught that place. The truck was still there. It was clearly wisible from truck damages, damaged tree and traces on the road that truck took the completely wrong line. Right line for rally driver if SS were on oposite direction but completely wrong for usual daily driving. And the truck had Lithuanian number plates (just a fact).
If there's something to laugh at then it's the fact that while Toyota used test days on a closed road to set up light pods (among other things) the professionals at Hyundai used an open public road and drove crazy high over the speed limit.
If there actually was police it might have ended with him not entering the rally.
Don't think you'd laugh then.
Tanak won 4 events in this Yaris WRC during his 2019 Championship season...

Beautiful smooth road on SD! Kalle and Ott flying the cars pretty far.. Tänak had a small moment also, big slide and a little left rear clip to the side of the road..
seemed quite slippery IMO, they all were skating around a lot and yeah Tänak and Evans with big sideways moments

For those who haven't checked Shakedown times; Seb is fastest after third runs, 0.2 sec up on Thierry who is 0.1 sec faster than Ott and Kalle. All quite close! (N.B. Ott has only done two runs)
Edit: And now Craig joins the four with the same time as Thierry!
Roads look really nice in the autumn…
Looks like Gus Greensmith had an issue on his third run = very slow time.
weird, i see it nicely
Nevermind, I can now see it as well
Just a question please. Is Jani Paasonen the one who used to drive for Mitsu and Skoda Wrc?
Thanks.
No pre-event tests for the M-Sport's is reflected in their SD times.
