Kosovo - this one is slightly questionable as it is not recognised by quite a few UN members i think this was in 2008 or 2009
Maybe Serbia or Montenegro as they were one state that split in half not sure of the date but possibly in the mid 00's

Serbia & Montenegro it is...anfield well done.
Anfield always knows the right answers.....:s
What, where and how big in area is the world largest airport?
Could it be Edwards Air Base, California which has an area of 470 square miles? Or is there a bigger one in Russia or China?
Not Edwards, the one I have in mind is much much MUCH bigger
I assume you mean largest commercial airport?
In terms of area (hectares), I believe Denver International in Colorado is largest.
In terms of annual passenger volume I would have thought Heathrow, but that sounds too easy :mark: .
Denver is only 140 square kms. (14000 hec)
The one I want makes Denver look like a lego model
Baikonur Cosmodrome? :p:
Beijing (Peking)?
not anywhere in Russia or China. I will add a clue shortly.
South Pole - with no marked boundaries it's technically the whole of Antarctica. ;)
oooh clever dicky!
Clue time then:
The south polar region is really really cold, the location of this airport is the polar opposite of this - think sand and camels
clue 2 it takes up 77800 hectares or 778 km squared
Baghdad?
not Baghdad
Mongolia - Gobi desert?
no.
Next clue it is named after somebody
Henri Coanda - Book a Rest
clue would be good (although previous clues haven't seemed to make much diff :p: )
Riyadh or Jeddah airport? I think they are named after the king?
close enough, so its not at those locations?
found it, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Fa...tional_Airport
ok, I got the country but that was due to the name + sand thing :\\
Ok, a quick question
name the busiest ports in the world - cargo and passenger both.
Rotterdam?
I would have thought that too but its not.
Hong Kong or perhaps Los Angeles?
I think Starter has it. Long Beach is the busiest in terms of cargo. Passenger volume, I would have thought Miami.
Miami has the most cruises coming in/out...Hong Kong used to be the busiest cargo port but not anymore.
Europort is the biggest in area, but not in terms of traffic though.
Cargo maybe Alexandria (Suez Canal)
Passengers - New York
I remember viewing a television show about the construction of a new deep sea port off the coast of China, near Shanghai, I believe. It was built on reclaimed land off an existing island where a mountain was blasted away to provide the fill. It was a huge project, but don’t know if this is now the largest port.
I have no idea what it was called.
If passengers is not New York. How about the Dover Ferry hub in the UK? Hundreds of crossings to all parts of Southern Europe depart from there every day, and the same number arrive as well?
schmenke: Shanghai it is for cargo!
anfield: Dover for passengers!
Miami for cruises (which although I hadn't asked schmenke said so perhaps he should get the next one :) )
The photo below is from my most recent scotch whisky club event, featuring the Benromach distillery.
I really like whisky. Most whiskies are distilled from malted barley. Much of the world's barley production is used for producing beer and spirits.
Name the top 10 barely producing countries, in terms of annual tonnes (source from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) :)

too late!
top 10 "barely" producing? ;)
I'm thinking India will be on most agriculture/grains lists but barley isn't the top crop here.
