Yes, please don't use those obsolete meters and such anymore. :DQuote:
I thought this was a geography thread, not an archaic measurment to modern measurement conversion thread http://www.motorsportforums.com/imag...lies/smile.gif
Let's call it a day. The gauge was 1 metre. This was part of the lunacy as it didn't match the counties either side - the South African, Rhodesia and Nyasaland system on one side and Sudan on the other which both had a 3ft 6in gauge so international running would never be a possibility.
Your question, anfield5
A simple one to get things moving.
What is the only sea on Earth with no coastline?
Billy's missus' hoochie
Sargasso sea?
Not the Arctic OCEAN - plus it has a coastline around Antartica.
It is the Sargasso sea in the middle of the Atlantic
Let's have a nice simple one:
Scotland has many sea lochs and freshwater lochs. Name it's only lake (excluding artificial lakes).
I know only Loch Ness.
interesting question D-Type. I have only heard of the Lake of Mentieth, but something is telling me this is actually a sea loch, which would mean that even though it is called a lake, it isn't actually a lake at all.
Loch Lomond ???????

I'm confused. Does loch not simply mean lake?
Anfield 5 has it - the answer is the Lake of Mentieth, the famous one. It is a freshwater lake. According to Wikipedia some artificial lochs/lakes are named "Lake whatever" and it hints there may be other Scottish "Lakes" but Mentieth is the famous one.
schmenke, "Loch" means "Lake" in Gaelic so all Scottish lakes are called "Lochs", like Loch Lomond and Loch Ness. They also use the word for "enclosed bodies of seawater" or "sea lochs" such as Loch Long.
Sorry, I'm still confused :p: . So why is Lake of Mentieth not called Loch Mentieth?
I'm also confused. How come that anfield always knows the right answers?
Keeping with lakes, what is significant/special about lake Bosumtwi in Ghana?
It's a loch? :p:
technically, according to the definition of loch, and only if you are Scotts, then yes it could be, but since you are Canadian, NO IT ISN'T :)
Wrong side of Africa for me. Is this lake the one that produces poisonous fumes sporadically?
nope :)
no idea
Supernatural creatures leaving there.
It has no water in it?
Is it the one that's extremely acidic?
still no, but strangely gadjo is possibly the closest yet.
It is the only natural lake in the country of Ghana, but this sin;t the answer I want, there is something really uniquely interesting about it
Steve - sorry it IS full of water and Schmeke - sorry it is just water
Clue: Think about why it is there - considering it is A) natural, not man-made, and B) It is the only natural lake in the country.
meteorite impact crater?
It's saline?
:D
Let me come back with a question, if anyone has a quick one ready go ahead!
nobody?
well, name the 3 youngest countries in the world...bonus points for year when they came into existence.
The youngest would be I.S.I.L., assuming a Caliphate counts as a country. Not sure about the next two newest.
nah, internationally recognized, not internationally reviled :p:
South Sudan
East Timor
???
South Sudan - mid 2011
Timor Leste - gained independence from Indonesia inthe early 2000's
Palestine (reconised as independent state in 2012 by UN)
SS yes the youngest to the list I referred to...
There are 2 younger than East Timor though...
Palestine isn't one of them (atleast in that list!)
