Kalle Rovanperä will probably get a drivers license in advance when he turns 17 on October. That means he could compete in BRC, for example, and drive his own recce and road sections in Finland.

and he has started practicing driving.
Kalle won another Finnish Championship event, on roads he has never driven on before http://www.rallism.fi/content/fi/3/2...etulokset.html

and that means: Emil Lindholm has won complete packet to JWRC for WRC Rally Finland.
Is he related to Sebastian Lindholm?

Jari Huttunen to make his 4WD debut in a Skoda R5 in Autoglym ralli and Neste Rally Finland
Didn't he already crash once with Fabia? Maybe I don't remmeber well who it was...
Yeah I knew that so what does that make these guys?/ ( true confession Antti, English is second language for me and i always had trouble with names for relations much beyond "Uncle"...those guys over next country west if you, that's my 3rd language and their clear way "morfar, farfar, morbror" that was better so )
Oh anther thing, please..We you said "(I was her race engineer)" what do you mean engineer?
Mekaniker? Skruva o banka p[ paneller?
I hear that and in Engrish an engineer is some guy at desk with pocket protector and 2cm thick glasses who is capable of occasionally drawing stuff which after giant battles might be a part, might just be junk....mainly a nerdy guy who biologically CANNOT hold a wrench without somebody getting hurt..
hence the name "injur-near"
But I hear that a lot...
so what do you mean?
Ah ha! Now you see why I was confuse...
So why are you "race engineer"?
Engineers design stuff that is over-complicated and intended to drive me insane if I'm makng it in my role as machinist (svarv o fräs) or in my roll as mechanic or meccano. Trust me, many times if who design some crap was around they would be 'inhur-near"..
So help me understand cause I see that word used a lot and really (not tooooo serious but then again I never am) but really curious...
Lots of crashes on the Autoglym Rally - Greensmith, Nordgren and Huttunen all went out. Actually it was quite rare that in a Finnish national event the top four places were taken by foreigners (Neuville, Veiby, Arai, Katsuta).
Route and schedule for Lake City Rally which begins today. http://lakecityrally.fi/?page_id=391
I'm going to Uskila 1 tomorrow
You mean the streams? There's supposedly some good stuff again at www.moottoriurheilu.tv
Eerik Pietarinen is a name to remember for the future. Two stage wins out of three, third stage win ruined by a Swedish R4 Mitsubishi.
Some organizing problems on the third stage, an accident requiring ambulance and then after the race re-started a civil vehicle got onto the stage slowing down competitors.

Total domination from Eerik Pietarinen, 9/10 stage wins, about s/km faster than the old champions
Pietarinen did a good work, being first time in R5 car. No doubt he could be a BIG future star. But can´t understand the big differences. Was it tactics from the others thinking of points and championship?
Also a question if he was local hero, living in the neighbourhood of the rally?
No offence, just wondering.
Pietarinen did proper job, but how often has a foreign driver set the fastest time in overall with Mitsubishi in Finnish championship????
Jacob Jansson from Sweden, the Man of the rally. He was one second slower than Pietarinen in the two forest stages on Friday and he was rallying first time ever in Finland.
Give him a chance!!!
Well Juha Salo needed a win so no reason for him to do any tactics. Asunmaa probably played it safe.
Pietarinen is from Southern Finland, not from the Tampere area.
It would have been interesting to have Rovanperä on the event for comparison, he wasn't this dominant on the two Finnish rallies he did this year.
While this is true Pietarinen also had a starting position advantage which Rovanpera did not have in his 2 starts in Finland this year.
Also I watched most of the live stages and everyone else seemed super careful except Pietarinen, it almost looked like they weren't even trying which I don't understand. I understand that Asunmaa had no reason to risk but why Mänty, Turunen and Salo were so much slower I have no idea.
But still I have to give credit to Eerik he was super impressive with almost no experience with R5 and I hope that he is able to drive R5 car next year atleast on FRC and maybe even on some international races.
Maybe Neste Ralli is going to be the event when we will see those two fighting against each other? and we can't count Juuso Nordgren out either.
Plus Huttunen driving Hyundai next year. All these Finnish rallying prospects are going to make 2018 exciting for sure!
I think we're going to need couple more "finnish" teams to WRC to fit all these guys on top cars ;)
Make Finland great again!!!
All drivers driving michelin tyres had big issues in Tampere (mänty, salo, nikara, asunmaa). For some reason tire temperature was super low even after long stage. Almost twice lower than Pirellis. Overall they strugled with the grip and pirelli drivers liked the grip.
But still Pietarinen did super job! Hopefully he can have good package next year!
Take a look at Jacob Jansson/Stefan Gustafsson, Mitsu Evo X on SS4 in SM-Ralli Tampere. Stunning drive!
Now - did he run on Pirellis as well, or on Michelins?

Pirellis, but he was still super quick also. Though he's running position was 27 or something so hard to compare.
To me it looked like proper rally driving all the time, and there were offs for some of the top drivers, meaning that they sure were trying. Pietarinen didn't even look that spectacular, but maybe that's why he's so fast.
In the best possible scenario for 2018 we could have Latvala, Lappi, Hänninen and Suninen in WRC class, with Huttunen, Rovanperä and Nordgren in WRC2. Hopefully Pietarinen joins that group soon.
