This game reminds me one of the 1998 World cup.
Romania -England 2-1
O tempora, o mores......
I believed that Gerrard was not playing until he got a yellow card
Yeeees !
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :angryfire:
Yeeeeeeeeeees
By the way
Lol. Gary Neville.
Suarez.
Bye Bye......:(
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeees
Where was the defence?
Suares looks like a peasant who came to town. :p
The goal was offside?
Gerrard assisting Suarez in the old Liverpool link up.
Weird...... I'm more nervous than Brown Jon Brow.....
At least I've said it remainds me of another 2-1......
Indeed Suarez made the difference, let's hope our coach Prandelli, has learned something tonight ;)
Sorry Steve......
Remember Pino's words, it's not over yet.
haha.
Really? No way we will beat Costa Rica now sadly.
We got some bright youngsters though hopefully.
The whole is up to Italy now ! ;)
- The defence of England had issues
- Gerrard was just a spectator
- Hodgson did nothing to put the team on track..
England are still poor and actually are on for our worst ever World Cup Finals exit.
Apart from 74,78 & 94 its probably the worst sadly, but at least we tried a younger team. Maybe they will improve come Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018
:'(
I don't think that England played badly, it's just that they are toothless.
England retained 62% of the possession and completed 75% of their passes as compared with Uruguay's 55% of completed passes.
Where Uruguay won this match was by having a compact central defence and when they back pedalled, the central midfield also plugged their central area. This meant that when England did get into the last third, they were out manned.
Both of Uruguay's goals came from play which got in behind an open England back four which played flat across the pitch and was sluggish in getting back to defend. Gerrard's flick to Suarez was more of his effort (badly) to cover for a back four which failed in their basic job.
Technically it's not really that hard to diagnose but then again, being an armchair pundit from the other side of the world, I have a far easier job than the XI on the pitch.
This was atleast a slightly adventurous/attacking England. The reason I dislike England is due to the hype by media/fans about their chances and how they deserve to be at the top table when in reality they have been piss poor sicne Italia 90. The 2006 England matches were perhaps the worst World Cup games I ever saw...
This was all Suarez though, a lesson in the art of finishing (and how to go about being in the right place to get the chance)
For the rest of this tournament I will be supporting team USA!
We controlled Suarez quite well, for most of the game - R. Hodgson
Can't wait for that too mate, and I guarantee Italy will not underestimate CRC ;)
Also Italy will play with their best defense line up (juventus) Buffon included !
Surely that was 2010?
2006 was OK - 1-0 win over Paraguay (boring), 2-0 over Trinidad & T (dramatic v Minnow) 2-2 v Sweden was a cracking game. (Joe Cole Volley)
2010 was the dire one: 1-1 with Usa, 0-0 With Algeria and 1-0 over Slovenia all dull as dish water.
2010 was dire
