Paddon would have done 4 WRC Rallies with Hyundai this year.
Something is brewing. Colin Clarke has tweeted that he was near the mark when he predicted a WRC round would use one of the European events (I think I’ve got the right end of the stick).
Any ideas?
Estonia looks to me the top candidate for that..

Estonia must be in, that's a no-brainer if there ever was one. Other than that, I honestly don't care as long as we have some rallies to look forward to. Let's just f-n go.
Cyprus?? I am excited! I hope for WRC Cyprus rally 2020!
How do you explain that Rally Finland can't be organized and a "new" rally in Estonia can take it's place at the same date?
Anyway for those organizers who see the opportunity to promote to WRC for once, it will be extremely difficult to organize the event. Rally fans all around Europe are waiting all year long see some action. Everyone had to cancel their previous plans and is waiting to plan some other events, crowds will be huge.
Greek Cyprus or Turkish Cyprus?
Ypres as a WRC round would be mega! I would love to see World Rally Cars cutting these roads.

Barum would be crazy with WRC cars
I can see why they want to use the upcoming ERC events, but can they cope with being converted to WRC events at such short notice and with the much bigger crowds ?
Also, will the ERC and it's driver's accept their rallies and championship being totally overshadowed by the WRC big boys ?
italian media added barum and valais to the list
"four or five" rallies have been identified as possible targets to be added to the 2020 schedule - Cyprus, Estonia, Ypres, ...
revised 2020 calendar is expected to be released on June 19

We are always finding problems.
OK, we all know the problems but organizations exist in order TO FIND SOLUTIONS.
It is still June and everyone says “cancel the whole championship”. We have 6 months left and we can do things. We must find workarounds.
Neuville was there last year in his i20 WRC & Bouffier in a Fiesta WRC:

Canarias Rally organizers says NO contacts with WRC promoter

thats interesting, one of the estonian organizers (Janis Kaal) said they have been in contact and they should know the answers in a couple of days time
I think it is pretty obvious, why Rally Dirtfish is a very certain candidate:
1. The reigning champ., local hero, has already confirmed that he will take part...big promo
2. He will be driving with his team and teammate so already two Hyundai motorsport drivers and cars+ their junior program have been confirmed
3. Toyota is based in Tallinn, so no question for them to be there too in 3h time. (if they weren`t already planning to be there anyway)
One privateer in a `17 Fiesta is also 99% there. Still, it is something...
Japanese Grand Prix cancelled, is that saying something about Rally Japan?
The most important aspect is said in the title.
And that is Dirtfish...+ definitely many banners of Gross` business.

It looks like we'll have a "Rally of Belgium" in stead of the normal Ypres. We're talking about 280km SS. On friday and saturday the WRC contenders will drive before those competing in the Belgian championship. The final leg on sunday will be driven in the region of Spa, with the powerstage around and in Francorchamps. The powerstage of the rally should be driven right before the finals of the WRX, which is at Spa at that time!
This is not confirmed yet by the FIA, but this is what's on the table at the moment and it can be done.
If this all comes to reality then I'm starting to like this years championship

Now I’m waiting confirmation from Barum, to take part of WRC
RIP Martin Holmes
The doyen of English language journalists/ writers. Hugely knowledgeable, and what I'd call an 'old school' journalist; the modern PR type journalism wasn't really his style. And his Annual was a must buy - but sadly, like Rallycourse, no longed produced.
RIP
Martin was true legend, he did a lot for popularity of rallysport and he always knows "everything" about what is happening in rally. And like me he was focused to young drivers and future stars, so we have spent plenty of time "virtually" discussing about them during last years... He will be really missed...
A sad loss indeed.
Back in 2005, when I won the WRC Pick'ems Competition on this very site, I 'd received his Pirelli World Rallying book #28 as a prize.
Rest in Peace, Martin!
