Looks like Hyundai team orders to drive slowly? (we'll see with Neuville)
The new Hyundai driver naturally has an opinion about the Swedish race, shortened following the weather far too mild to hope to have a lot of snow. "The conditions are extreme for this round. It is absolutely new for everyone. It is not very advisable to ride in these types of conditions, but we will see how it will unfold. Some sections will be dangerous. .but the rally is dangerous. We just have to try to deal with it. We all know that the organizers worked hard to maintain the event. They do not manage the weather conditions so everything does not depend on them. The decision was difficult to take, it's a complex situation for everyone, "Tanak analyzed on our microphone.

this is just so fun to watch
"We must respect the efforts made by everyone to maintain this event, in particular by removing all the impassable parts or by giving us more tires. The conditions are difficult, we are falling a bit into the unknown. I was asked the question and I gave my point of view. We would have liked to have better conditions, but I prefer to be here rather than at home. We cannot control the weather. I try to remain optimistic for the weekend , even if I expect some complicated parts to negotiate, "said Sébastien Ogier at our microphone on Swedish soil.
"This is the rally ... We are forced to meet different conditions and to adapt. But our tires will not be made to roll on the ground. I hope they will be strong enough only to evolve in safety However, if the temperatures are cold and there is no fresh snow, it would be better to start in front, "continued the French driver.

Hyundai drivers shows their opinion about second shakedown...

Hi there, our flight delay was to long , we missed tests, and with 0km on these conditions , risk was to high , and for sure many other reason like distance of rally etc
"Is it a good idea to organize this rally? We will find out on Sunday afternoon ... I think it's good to be here and try to do the rally. But the drivers will find themselves at high speeds without the snow walls ... and they may end up on ice without nails. We will see the conditions on Friday morning. If necessary, we will notify the FIA that we are here for the sport , not to play with the life of my team, "said Andrea Adamo, sports boss of the Hyundai team, at our microphone.

so it seems it was Tänaks and Breens decision to cruise
1436/5000
"The conditions are deplorable. Deep down, I don't want to do this rally because I feel that it is really dangerous. We have to drive in conditions where the tire is not suitable, it has not developed for that. We find it hard to feel grip, to project ourselves, we have to take risks. It bothers me a bit. It's up to me to take the step to reach the same level of requirement as usual. We all do the same job, I imagine we all have the same analysis. The organization does not ask for our opinion. I am the least well placed to try to consider anything like approach, "explained Nicolas Gilsoul, co-pilot from Neuville, to our microphone.
And the Belgian to drive the point home: "The key will be to adapt in real time to the conditions that will evolve. We will drive with tires developed to work on snow and ice. They will lose their nails when We’re going to arrive on frozen ground. We’re also going to come across ice patches… so that we’ll no longer have a nail. The grip will be more than precarious. It’s not really exciting. risks will be decisive: it bothers me greatly. We are already on the wire and we will also have to reduce the safety margin to hope to be in front. Tanak's exit at Monte-Carlo is not in my mind. to this situation which I find it difficult to accept because it seems to me unreasonable. "

Hat off to the prince that bagged the ride... bet that was amazing.
A little worried about Adamos’s words about safety. Hope all bring it home.
Toyota's really soft suspension setup compared to all others. At least Latvala's setup was done based on proper winter conditions. Interesting to see how it will play out when the real rally starts.
Not been watching, by why did Breen and Tanak cruise? No real reason to surely?
Neuville: "With snow it's 125 km / h on average, here it's going to be ... 140 on average"
Toyota's suspension seems to always work better than Hyundai on smooth gravel. Her as long as things stay frozen it will generally be very smooth gravel so they might be quite a bit faster.
Probably one of the reasons Hyundai is so loud about bad conditions, combined with them currently leading the championship.

Interesting morning @RallySweden
, we had high grip initially but lost most of the studs by the end of the second run. It’s unpredictable but we just need to adapt to the conditions as best we can and get the most from the weekend.

With such low/variable grip, we should at least get some pretty spectacular You Tube videos from the usual suspects this weekend!
also at Latvalas yaris the ''disc holder'' is closed

It’s true the Hyundai always looks a lot ‘stiffer’ than the others, and when the surface doesn’t give up much grip, it seems to skate over it. On the other side when it’s really bumpy, the Toyota tends to look too soft for me, always looks like it’s banging and crashing around.
What was the exact reason for Karlstad not to be run as a stage?

Rovanperä shakedown onboard.
His run was about 10% faster than last year.
Wondering what will happen if they would be able to drive Hof-Finnskog at 135kph average, will they let them run it again tomorrow?
I think if the conditions are good enough, they will just add another hay bail on the road..
the service park looks like it's in the middle of desert or smth :D

If you apply the 10% factor to Hof-Finnskog, it would go over 135 km/h but I don't think it will scale that linearly, the shakedown was all gravel, whereas there should be ice and snow on the stages. And once you wear your studs on the gravel and reach and icy section, you need to be very cautious, like in Monte.
