Latvala crash from another angle

The bales must be close to each other to form a barrier, with no open spaces between them; clearly that wasn’t the case.
Hopefully just a minor issue for Kristensson; 16s can still be recovered, especially coinsidering tomorrow’s long leg. Fingers crossed for the Swede.
This is what the road book showed
#Tyre info - Day 2 morning - SS11-SS13
All @Michelin @OfficialWRC drivers with 5 MICHELIN LTX Force M6 except Tidemand with 4M6 +1S6
#MichelinWRC #WRGB
There was some confusion about Østberg being retired (and not in Rally2, because he said his rally is over) but he's still there on the start list.
Huh, that's definitely not how the chicane looked ... for any of the cars.
There are 3 bales and 2 "roads" in the roadbook. If you read it from left you should go left after the first bale. If you read it from right you should go second from right.
In reality there were 4 bales and 3 "roads". So those that read if front left were correct and those that read it from right were also correct.
Hence I can't see any penalties getting handled. Quite big messup from the organizers both on the idea of putting the finish in a chicane and then messing it up.

The road book has three big dots and one smaller, not sure what's the difference, but otherwise the layout is the same.
nice to have Molly back at the studio :D
The small dot marks the finish (compare with the STOP just below). So 3 bales in roadbook 4 bales in reality. If you count from right you have bale-finish-bale-(the road you should drive) and then 2 bales on left instead of one.
EDIT: As to the layout, the bale you should drive around on the left side is in the middle between the two finishing bales (just like in roadbook). The "extra" one to the left is behind the left side bale.
and we are Go guys...huge day ahead without service
I have a feeling the afternoon will be quite eventful

For my Finnish translated route preview of the day the editor in chief interviewed Lappi and asked for his comment about the Colwyn Bay stage
"Even a simpler person can do well there, you won't need pace notes there" :D
https://www.rallit.fi/mm-rallin-ohje...pikin-ihminen/
Lappi and Tidemand are about equal now at split 3
nobody matching Evans so far
wow Tidemand faster than Lappi.
completely different perspectives from Lappi and Tidemand, one liked the other not
Meeke losing some time, a few seconds
Paddon with a fast first split. However, we must remember that Kalle can just play it safe now.
man i thought the next stage is 11.08 estonian time but now i noticed it is 12.08...meh (AnttiL will be furious again now with me )
I mean, one can be "meh" about it being a long time to the next stage without it being complaining about the rally/organizers
I certainly am "meh" about it, but hey, now I got time to do some dishes while I wait

Greensmith screwed up! Kalle is now again closer to being a champion
That's probably it for GUS today then. He is making a lot of rally ending accidents...

If you take this rally as a job interview...
Latvala, Paddon, Greensmith, Tidemand are not doing too well.
Oliver with good opener split
ewrc a bit mess-up too )

3rd split in a row Oliver have fastest split in R5
I don't like these gaps either. They're fundamentally unavoidable, rallying wouldn't be rallying as we know it without them. But "the bad things happen for a reason" is not the same as "they are not bad".
It's just one of the things you have to take into account when you decide whether you want to watch the whole of every rally.
Road cleaning rallies like Sardinia are similar -- they're good for people who just follow the championship table, but they're miserable if you watch the rally and realise that car and driver are minor compared to starting order.
So, basically we're screwed. ;)
I'd take Latvala in a WRC team over the others easily.
24.7 faster than father! Quite amazing!
