The Race has something similar, but that is much cheaper for a far more appealing product that attracts a far bigger audience. For 8 pounds a month this won't be there for long I'd reckon.

I assume that all the Dirtfish online content has been created to promote and advertise the rally school. The ads for this on the podcasts have been getting ever longer in recent months.
Maybe this hasn't worked and their online business (and paying David Evans, Colin Clark, Luke Barry etc) is actually costing more than the new (rally school) customers it brings in. So now they've had to charge for it ?
Surley all that effort for extra customers for a very niche service in a country where it is extra niche is not really the idea behind it.
Online ads will bring in revenue and if something like this gets popular enough it will be profitable, just look at "The Race".
The members thing was probably a plan from the start, but you need to build a potential customer base first.
