We were so lucky, crew stopped by a firetruck

At least Veiby managed to save the car.
I could see Meeke being overtaken by Neuville and Ogier this afternoon. Will be interesting to watch.
will not be so easy

Who was it criticising the mentioning of Polo R5 cars having issues. Can you see why now ?
Pietarinen has been a bit under the radar but is doing pretty well in WRC2.
How have VW got this R5 project so wrong? This is VW....
It's very quick but there seem to be a few major reliability problems. I suppose the test programme wasn't thorough enough, especially surprising since they postponed the homologation date too.
It certainly shows how difficult it is to build a competitive and reliable R5 car.
Does Portugal normally have this much attrition? I never thought of it as a tough rally, but maybe I got the wrong idea.
ANDREA ADAMO (HYUNDAI)
"We are in situation where the fight is very tight. I think it is my job to do whatever is possible within the rules to try and win."
SÉBASTIEN OGIER
"First of all I don't think I need to comment on Hyundai's tactics. The morning was good - I'm happy with what I have done in the car. It's also confirmation that we have made some good improvements in the car."
Well they did manage that indeed (although i remember a couple of Fabias burning, it wasn't to the extent it has been with the Polo)
But they spent a very long time working on that project, even running the mechanicals in a Fabia S2000 shell initially before the new car was available.
And maybe running a works team helps them to quicker identify and get on top of problems too.
#Tyre info - Day 2 afternoon
Ogier: 4 MICHELIN LTX Force H4 + 2M6
Lappi/Latvala/Meeke/Tanak/Neuville/Loeb: 5H4
Sordo: 3H4 +3M6
Suninen/Evans/Greensmith: 3H4 +2M6

If you think it was easy for them you are very wrong. Building the R5 cars really is a challenge and a big one.
The strange thing is that as far as I know it was known for quite a long time why they were burning but it took a lot of time to have all paper-sorted for the updated homologation.
Here goes Evans road-sweeping again. Thanks a lot Hyundai.
SS11 @ElfynEvans - “Running first on the road it’s so difficult and so polluted out there. It’s just impossible to be honest."
Neuville running on three sylinders off the startline...
That didn't sound good for Neuville...
Latvala with low pace, probably already under teamorder
Meeke loves this stage
