Despite the final bad luck, Tanak, Molder and DMack guys did an outstanding work. They really deserved this one but sooner or later other wins will come on their way.
Dramatic rally end also for Lappi; just like Tanak, he lost the win on SS20 because of a puncture. Better luck for both in Finland!
Well that has to be one of the most emotional WRC finishes in a long time! Gotta be good for the sport right?
Especially the great sportsmanship of some of Ott's competitors. Well done WRC!
As brilliant as that chopper is to watch, one day that will go very wrong!
This is true, I noticed missed junction and a few excursions wide in the ditch. However when Mikkelsen cleans the road (more or less being 3rd) his job is very demanding and those things are inevitable. If he wasn't flat-out all the time (and making small mistakes) he probably wouldn't win it. But Rajd Polski is forgiving event in terms of small driver errors. So indeed Tanak was very, very unfortunate. Better luck next time!
very clean drive from Tanak at Bunnings video.
I was watching Baranovo SS20 stage where that sh*t happened for Tanak, most likely ... that was a really big stone, ruts where developing during first Baranovo pass (ss18) and when first wrc cars started to go on ss20 ruts juts deepen even more with each car, and that really big stones' head was opening more and more. Every car was hitting this stone as it was sitting right in a middle of the rut for the right wheel. Fast corner, really fast, and it was like to hit 25cm high kerb at full speed. Michelin tyre H4 or S4 for WRC has much more steal wiring in their structure to make it stronger for punctures and stones like that b*stard over there, they weight 2kg more than TZ or those new tyres for R5 cars.
and when R5 class cars came - crazy, it was like massacre... Good that organisers stopped this before R2 and other cars came...

of course we tried to remove it many times if someone would dare to ask, but its was just a top of a big big stone, maybe few meters big under the gravel impossible to remove. Like I said, well done that stage was cancelled as 'it' could destroy all less strong cars which were to come after R5s

Sordo carried on after that but clipped a tree with a rear wheel on SS20 and broke something.

3 fiesta's, 1 fighting for victory and the other 2, 3 min behind, driver's skills and experience matters.

Who was nominated for points for hyundai for this rally?
Finally they got the right choice
Well, if somebody is finishing rallies and almost never crashing, it's Sordo...
If i was Tommi i had recruit Ott and Suninnen already, both are talented and future champion challengers.
Suninen is not in the market anymore.
I think suninen is going to Toyota anyways. Isn't he still contracted with them?
Suninen/Toyota is a very exciting prospect for the future. If that's where he's gone. Hopefully he can be the new Gronholm.
Okay. Soon it will be officially :p

I have no idea what is in f1. In wrc they have some (limited) options with the various parts, but which and how often I'm not familiar with. For sure they can make some changes if the time has come.
As for Sordo, the tree incident seems to happen before the other, so it is quite possible he damaged radiator or something.
Who knows - but no mention of engine here: http://www.crash.net/wrc/news/231827...in-poland.html
