That was before VW found the underlying cause and used a joker to homolgate a replacement injectors.
VW simulated engine failure on purpose so they can understand the engine's limits with a failed injector (component that caused retirements in Argentina).Quote:

That's interesting from technology point of view. I used to run my car on 4 cylinders for a long time and there wasn't terminal damage to it.... Of course the cause wasn't failed injectors, but head gasket, anyway the damage seems similar. But abstracting from the mechanical staff, may be it computer software break down after all..
