They actually did back to back tests with Pirellis: https://twitter.com/Traxx_WiF/status...669210120?s=19
And even with some Pirelli engineers onsite.
Dirtfish wasnt sure about it if you read how they wrote that.
''DirtFish understands the test was centered on tire development for Michelin.''

maybe just skoda wants to test the faster tyre, now the opposition is up on the game.
Meeke looking more comfortable with the car here, perhaps day two:

Pirelli's helped Solberg's performance:

Maybe admin can rename this thread to Rally2 News?
In Italy almost everybody is using Pirelli. Have a look:

Also Kajto recommends Pirellis:

Well everyone knows that
Michelin is from France
Pirelli is from Italy
so those 2 countries are bad examples for tyre choises.
If I am not mistaken, Basso won the Italian Championship in 2019 with Michelin...
You are right:

Anders Grųndal looks to be ditching the Rally2 Fiesta Mk2. He drives slower in that model than the Mk 1. He says he does not get the feel in that cartype.
The family firm is a Ford dealership, so does not want to stop using Ford, but he would like to win, amd feels that he can not do that in the Mk2.
Tested a Skoda Fabia Evo this weekend, and won. He liked that car, but will test more cars, I guess Polo, C3 and i20 as well, before deciding car for 2021.
I am impressed with Frank Tore Larsen. Great pace in old one.
Yes, and it it is chassis nr 30 from 2014, done 75 rallies with him since new.

Is there any development happening on VW Motorsport on the Polo R5, or is it still the same as it was born?
Watching a review from Rally Alto Tāmega, from Portugal, Pedro Meireles was saying that he was expecting the arrival of a new gearbox from Germany, which sounded like some sort of upgrade. He was also saying that there are less Polo's running, which makes the process of developing a bit slower.

I am not aware that Skoda Motorsport have any major events on the horizon so I wonder whether this test (and recent ones of Meeke) are actually testing components for the next Fabia R5? Or maybe just some jokers to see this model through until homologation of the new car.
And Kopecky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYJVZTaXCnU
People are selling their Mk2 Fiestas, something at the back of the car that they can not adjust so they get enough grip. Many have tested a lot, but habe not managed to get the level of confidence as in a Mk1.
Are MSport planning upgrades for this?
Future Yaris R5 ?

That definitely isn't R5.

Anyone that knows what is happening to the Proton Iriz R5, are they competing at all in 2020?
They need a top driver to promote it in ERC or WRC imo, so customers can see what it is good for.
Unlike with the Satria S2000 I don't see any sign of potential in the Iriz R5 to compete against the top dogs. The car looks to be a lost case unfortunately.
TBF, COVID19 is still around. And I dunno if rallying in UK has been restarted..

It's been a LONG time since we have said this...but it's #RALLYWEEK!
Looking forward to the #MEM #Proton #Iriz #R5 getting some competitive mileage at this week's fantastic @GoodwoodRRC #SpeedWeek
All available on line free to view at http://goodwood.com
That would be great but the program seems to be underfunded since the beginning. Proton is still recovering from a serious crisis, which forced them to let Geely get a 49.9% stake and lead the company. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Chi...-price-of-235m
Anyway, the Iriz R5 late development and homologation already happened under Geely management so, who knows, maybe we’ll end seeing it on a top international series. Fingers crossed and hat off to MEM.
Well it's the nearest thing to a competitive rally we have in the UK at present !
