Taka with second best time
Predictions for tomorrow... will we have Ogier and Loeb... the masters as cleaning-workers... opening the road? What is their motivation? They only take part for competing for the win. Only manufacturer points I guess.
At lunch and after a pretty exciting morning, who would've thought that this was what we would have by the end of the day??
Elfyn second fastest trough, one-two for Toyota on this stage and also overall
Some time lost by Loubet in split 1 (as Greensmith).
Probably Sordo in 3rd tonight.
Interesting to see what will happen in Toyota tonight.
It's like Rovanpera & Evans are on another rally - almost serene progress with no real issues or punctures.
Loubet's car full of dust
Loubet off and now full of dust.
He went off, so third will be for Sordo
Greensmith now the leading M-Sport... but he's not a points scorer.
No split for Armstrong in J-WRC in SS7?
Again a U-turn in this category?
Why are the roads in such bad condition? Are the new hybrid cars tearing up the roads more?
And given that Pirelli have no competition, can they not just build a tyre strong enough for the conditions with no concerns over weight? Or can no conventional tyre withstand this (ie without mousse)
Sordo saving the day for Hyundai with a solid drive, otherwise it'd be a Toyota 1-2-3.
Sordo into third position overall
cheers to antii:D
:)
I've been busy today, I've managed to watch/listen every stage but not write anything on forums or twitter. Once I did, it went straight into All Live :D
If someone missed it, I tweeted that last year Ogier won this stage first on the road and now Kalle did the same (wasn't run before that in a long time).
Anyway, Portugal serves once again plenty of drama!
Early days, but if you watched entry-list and made predictions.. do you have Katsuta, Greensmith and Loubet in Top 6? Especially instead of Loeb, Ogier, Tänak, Neuville.
Well this is getting ridiculous with all the punctures.
dust problem into the car problem, imho has to do that they havent chassis but spaceframe.
After almost every rally i can't help but wonder how much rally's and titles neuville could have won, had he not stayed at hyundai. Ogier was smart enough to walk away from citroen after 1 year, neuville just keeps sticking with the amateurs year after year.
Could say the same about Tänak staying there after a torrid run for(much) less time, yet still he is signed until the end of next year. Of course Neuville is there for much longer but don't forget only since 2016/17 has he actually started challenging for wins and titles.
I'm sure he could be/ could have been a multiple champion. However he seems wedded to Hyundai so I doubt that changes + Kalle is now ready to take over from Ogier it seems....
Have to say though, that 2017 was his fault. God awful mistakes on the first 2 events while leading comfortably
tyre is a compromise, depents where you want to give advantage performance/reliability.
Also dont forget that pirelli had for years the most robust gravel tyre. So they have some knowledge about it.
Also dont forget about corona virus when tyre was developed and in such short time, and that these generation wrc are the fastest and much more powerfull from previous generations.
And yes mistakes can happen, even to spaceships, not just a black round rubber.
So Tänak like always didn’t tell us everything during the day
Had transmission problems
Puncture for Gus on super special
If Pirelli can't handle having the monopoly in F1 and WRC they should decide which one to focus on and bin the other motorsport off.
They are an absolute disgrace here in wrc atm. Greensmith summed it up there..., how the f*ck can you get a puncture in a super special when you do nothing wrong.
Seems that Hyundai is like some kind of secret military factory. None of drivers does not explain their technical troubles
But when there is no competition they should focus on reliability surely?
I'm not blaming Pirelli particularly, maybe it wouldn't be much different with Michelin but the current situation isn't good for drivers, fans or Pirelli themselves who don't get any publicity from beating the competition but get lots from multiple punctures.
In this year's 4 events, Neuville has repaired his car more than his mechanics did...
