Top 4 in the championship in the top 5 places + Latvala. Will be interesting to see how Jari goes tomorrow with similar road position to the guys around him.
Suninen still stopped, question if he can even make it back. 200 km on public roads with completely no brakes doesn't sound like very good idea.
Didn't look like it, to stop the car for the stopline he had to stop the engine.
EDIT: Driving now.
It probably best he stop, rather than wreck that car.
It"s incredibly frustrating how Ogier never has any problems like other drivers. He will again slip into the first three or even win if Tanak's Toyota will survive untin tge end. I'm completely sure that Meeke's and Latvala's won't.
This kind of discussion been here since Loeb from 2004 onwards, then with VW domination it was Ogier vs Latvala and now it's Ogier only.
They "always" seem to have less issues/punctures w/e. But that can be easily turned around. it's always the drivers like Latvala, Meeke, Evans, Mikkelsen etc etc. that have puctures, car issues etc. Over multiple tens of rallies it's not due to sheer coincidence. It's just that the multiple champions don't take those 0.05% extra risks and still are fast. Also they will rather take a bit slower time in one stage and drive it safely than risk issues. If you want to be a champion fighting them you have to learn that...as Neuville found out in 2017 and Tanak in 2018. Both these two look like they start to learn that skill now as well.
Meireles Polo R5 has been lost in flames on SS6. How many Polo's has been burned down by now?
Řstberg and Yates both with double-punctures showing the stages have become rough.
Yates:
Bad news ! That's the end of today for us. Double-puncture on SS6 and only one spare. Hardly surprising - stages have been incredibly rough.
Greensmith explains time loss:
“Had a good stage 4, but after the engine cut out, I got a little frustrated & ruined my tyres. Lack of experience but lesson learnt. Still an amazing day!”

Well I think Loeb's motivation to do more starts later this year dropped a lot and will probably drop even more after cleaning for next two days. (from his interview)
Meeke "really needs service". Could have a issue here with the car....
Toyota found someone to sell their broken rims... to Mads

Loeb said that fresh fuel will fix it?
Sébastien Ogier
"I would have signed with both hands to be where I am tonight! As expected it's been tough but it was close to a perfect day for us, excluding SS1 where we had a small issue, running 35s without boost. Other than that we've done everything we could & I'm happy with the position"
We've done a good job, but if one man has done a better job it's definitely @OttTanak, who set really good times being 2nd on the road. 2nd place is not far, it has to be our target. And tomorrow will be very long, with rough conditions in some places. It's far from being over"

Rally Trivia 192
The manufacturers title fight for 2019 effectively started again from SS6 of Rally Portugal
At end of SS5 Hyundai and Toyota both had 192 virtual #WRC manufacturer points.
Toyota 149 + 25 + 18 = 192
Hyundai 178 + 10 + 4 = 192
after SS7 Hyundai would lead Toyota by 5 points
Hyundai 178 + 15 + 4 = 197
Toyota 149 + 25 + 18 = 192
Really enjoyable first day; we were on Góis ZE9, a fast downhill section ending on a 90 degrees right corner with a fabulous view. Besides the usual WRC and top R5 crews amazing show, it was great to see guys like Greensmith, Veiby, Loubet, Gryazin or Pietarinen also performing on a high level. A shame to hear about Hyundai and Ford issues, but the top 5 fight it’s still on and those 25s can fade away on 2nd leg challenging stages.
Btw, there was a cool moment on ZE9 when the first car appeared on the mountain skyline; despite the huge crowd, for some seconds everybody contemplated the scene in absolute silence, as in a sort of ritual…probably we all felt how great it was coming back to Arganil sacred rally country!
Was a shame how people were treated yesterday on Arganil stage, namely on ZE11. People walking 10 km climbing hill. After have arrived at up hill, marshalls and scurity forces told "it is not possible to cross the road to the other side", to the ZE efectivelly. Was stupid as their statement was "only after priority drivers would be available to cross the road". That was just stupid, as in my opinion all the cars could be dangerous, not only the priorities. People was treated like cattle in a fence. I am portuguese but I am ashamed about how organization treats the rally fans. They did not deserve the rally at their stages. This has to be told and shared.
Good morning guys

Morning fans of rallying. Second and crucial day for RP.
Hyundai playing games?
Seems like it. Would be nice if they are... Team Ogier started playing games early on last year... Or Sordo is having issues
Playing the games started by others, as said...
Nice Hyundai :)
Loeb could start working as a diplomat... on foreign office of France.
OT. Where is N.O.T.? Anyone?
