They rolled a few times... may have wanted to check to see if all wheels on and pointing (reasonably) in the right direction.. Not such a strange thing.

Car stood up to that pretty well. Like Eddie said in hindsight Elfyn didn't need to get out.
Loeb very impressive. Can see him eventually chasing down Sordo and taking his soul. It just feels right.
Let's hope Sordo doesn't hit any issues like so many times on gravel rallies last year.
drivers complaining
FRI 12:36 - SS4: LAPPI
Fourth quickest so far and Lappi reports similar problems to Latvala. What about Tanak? "He seems to be able to drive around the issue."
FRI 12:33 - SS4: LATVALA
Latvala quickest so far, despite ongoing engine issues. "Overheating - particularly on the uphill sections. We have to switch to road mode to keep the temperature down."
1) This doesn't mean they had major overheating issues in that particular stage.
2)
Timeloss/km
SS3/SS4
Tanak 0.48/0.2 (-0.28)
Latvala 1.13/0.52 (-0.61)
Lappi 1.4/0.78 (-0.62)
who is you favourite next tarmac stage? Thinking Bets :)
Michelin splits are back!

The point is (thankfully for Ott), is that he didn't have as big issues as his teammates over those stages, Tom Fowler said as much.
They have a system this year that kicks in to protect the engine and other components when the engine starts to overheat, and they'll work on Lappi and Jari's car in service to give them the chance to fight like Ott has been able to do.

Wish you could click on a driver to have it as reference in the spilts. A long time ago this was possible.
I know that it is early but I am impressed with Loeb so far. He is little bit more competitive than I thought considering how long he has been away.
Mightily impressed by Loeb. All those other competitions have made him an even more complete driver. I think he will get faster as the rally goes and that will make a few guys stressed likely. Even though you are fighting for the championship, you don't want to beaten by somebody whos been away that long. Let's see if he can make it stick.
Great rally so far, shame for the toyotas.
Loeb doing great and fully taking advantage of his road position.
It's amazing how on the pace he is. A true master....
The avg. speed of the last stage was 30 km/h faster than the stage before.Quote:

It's air cooling after all

the air cooling was different from other 2 yaris?
Off course I don't know if they had overheat problems, you don't know either. Heck often the drivers can't be sure either as the engine turns down power automatically (ref. Toyota engineer), supposedly without even telling on the dashboard (ref. Latvala SS2).Quote:
so you dont know if all yaris had engine overheat problems. Thats the answer you had to give at my question.
answer is not that ''they are faster vs previous stages''.
But based on times they clearly had much less issues in SS4 and the higher speed is for sure the reason. I recommend you actually read and think about whats written first. "Highest stage" doesn't mean much if the difference is a few 100m while the avg. speed difference is 30 km/h.
drivers quotes from stage, tells me that you dont have a clue what happened.
you dont have to imagine theories with average speeds vs high altitude vs times from previous stages, when drivers said THEY SWITCHED OFF ANTILAG DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP.
hope its clear now.
Yeah he was interviewed by Molly after the stage in service. Basically it's a failsafe system which he said wasn't in place last year, which kicks in to protect the engine and other components when temps get too high. Basically the system manages power output in relation to Performance vs reliability when the temps are high. Said things were under control although obviously he was putting a brave face on it, as they've still had two cars suffer a bit much.

Its not funny Mr Loeb... you should stop that...
according to Fowler, they had different mapping to Tanaks yaris.
Maybe they had to try some different things at one car from other 2 cars, for safety reasons.
ie less power for Tanak from mapping, but when you dont have high engine temp like at Latvalas and Lappis car with different mapping for more power,at the end you gain, because your less power car(Tanak)car didnt get at safe mode due to mild mapping,so no high engine temp=no safe mode.
this is the most pointless stage i have ever seen...my god
Big problem in that stage for Thierry. Looked like he was in road mode. Dropped 25secs!!!
Wow Neuville!!! I totally missed what's happening on this pathetic stage

his door was opening through the stage reported.
Yep totally clear. You do anything to "save" yourself from the fact that you spam post too fast without thinking. So for the last time on your way to NOT-land.
Obviously it wasn't since all 3 improved. bb
Going to follow real drama with Neuville instead.
