I never understood why Motorsport Ireland chose McErlean for the Rally1 opportunity last year. He's never impressed much previously and there are other Irish talents.

armstrong has done 22 rallies in a rc2 or r5 car, munster has done 59, mclearlean 51. experience counts a lot, but if you don't have the talent you can't make it work.
Unfortunately for Josh McErlean (and to some extent Greg Munster), this doesn't flatter him. Armstrong's pace in only his second Rally1 event may lead to a serious inquisition at Motorsport Ireland.
