New photos online http://www.avetowrc.com/Index/Index2.htm

Great pictures, but would it be possible to remove the text which is all over the new Bettega picture?

Mikkelsen has been excluded for his car being underweight.

Duval isn't continueing ?

Apparantly it was an unsolvable electrical problem :( A pity for Duval. He could in 3 rallies have scored more points than Stohl and Carlsson all together.

Langdale Forest

No splits for Bettaga.

On serious note, yes, too bad for Duval.

And again, Sola and Tirabassi have to run after JWRC, Clio R3 and C2-R2 today !!! What's this crappy starting order ??

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:01
It's called seeding

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:07
Mikko should be 37,2 secs faster than Stohl in order to take final manu point at the end of the rally

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:10
And he is 37,7secs faster

MikeD
14th October 2007, 09:10
Stohl souds like a man ready to throw in the towel ... for good.

Magnus
14th October 2007, 09:10
Feel a bit bad for Stohl, especially since Citroén made such an effort in fixing a car for Corse.

AlfaWRC
14th October 2007, 09:10
Mikko took a bit more than have of the gap from Stohl on those two stages.
Will be really tight...

What ?? How com ?

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:27
Besides, Sordo isn't that much faster, he is no threat to Marcus.

Magnus
14th October 2007, 09:28
I don´t know if it was really a good suggestion from Rautianen (spelling issues...) to drive without splits. Bosse says he is going flat our allready, so the splits are of no use. may be; but he did not gain any on it as it seems, and the psygological factor of having tha splits is not that small I believe.

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:28
What ?? How com ?

It was Timo Rautiainen's idea, they chose not to have splits but instead drove as fast as they could.

What a complicated strategy :s

Langdale Forest
14th October 2007, 09:30
Sordo fastest on stage 14.

jonkka
14th October 2007, 09:30
What's complicated in it? Knowing the splits doesn't help you drive faster, they only allow you to relax (when you're front and know that you don't need to push). But when you're chasing someone it's question of going as fast as possible and splits don't help there.

A.F.F.
14th October 2007, 09:31
Marcus doing good. Still last leg of the rally left.

I think he will be able, in two stages Bettega has taken 1:30 aprox., and now the difference is over two minutes.
Also i don't understand why the S2000 cars are coming after all JWRC, if a WRC without seeding is in the top 15 then he starts in front of the JWRC, why not in the case of a S2000?

At this pace, Mikko will finish six seconds ahead of Stohl.

A.F.F.

Mikko still has 30,8 seconds to catch. However, the last stage is longer so if his tyres are ok, I think he is going to make it. :)

Why was Mikko so slow yesterday?

jonkka

Ford had not realised they had a chance to score a point, which actually became a real possibility after Duval retired.

Magnus

sordo keeps pushing...

Finni
14th October 2007, 12:03
Bernardi is painly slow.. Interesting to see how Lindholm can do in Great Britain. Suzuki has much, much work to do to achieve even Subaru's current level.

2005 new Ford Focus was superbly fast out of the box. I tend to think that car's initial performance is more or less indicative about potential of the car.

jonkka
14th October 2007, 12:04
JML loses 2.9secs, 3.9 more in hand and next one is longer stage... exciting!

Might even help him to get a proper seat for years to come.We also have to remerber that J-M has only allowed to test a couple days in the whole year! That's same as Marcus and Mikko have tested before every rally.

Mauri A
14th October 2007, 13:47
Just called J-M´father to concratulate, and he told that Malcolm had promised "extra bonus" to J-M if he can keep Petter behind. We both hoped that the bonus would be testing. For the 1000 Lakes, as I still call it. the suspension settings were made at the restaurant table!

I am so glad my fears ahead of this rally turned out so wrong. Bosse has still all the possibilities of regaining the title..
This rally also made me glad in some other perpectivs, in contradiction of what I expected:
- Petter is on a rise!
- JM Latvala is once again showing that he will be one of the big guys in the future.

Can´t wait til Japan. Luckily it´s just two hours til the swedish tv-coverage from Corse... :)

A great win for Seb, just four points lead for Markus. This will be a battle!!For me personaly are two heroes in this race: J.M. Latvala and Alessandro Bettega. Great rally, Loeb was to fast, Marcus superb also, he is doing a fantastic season so far, still a pity he will not doing a full season next year.., Duval strong too, he's hoping for a C4 in Ireland..., Latvala and Solberg great, Subaru in general is still way back to fight for the top ( with or without Pirelli tyres ), Bettega good, Kopecky strong as usual on tarmac, hope he will get another car next year, Pons is not from the same level like Sordo as we now definitly could say, H Solberg is a waste of time on tarmac. PG Andersson congratz for your second JWRC title, it's time to step in a WRC car.

To be honest I was disappointed in Sordo's performance, as a Tarmac expert I would've expected him to finish ahead of Gronholm, I'm sure Citroen were expecting him to, and Loeb for that matter. I've said before, I can't believe Citroen haven't given Duval a C4 for the Tarmac rounds, they're not that strapped for cash are they?

To be honest I was disappointed in Sordo's performance, as a Tarmac expert I would've expected him to finish ahead of Gronholm, I'm sure Citroen were expecting him to, and Loeb for that matter. I've said before, I can't believe Citroen haven't given Duval a C4 for the Tarmac rounds, they're not that strapped for cash are they?

As Duval, Sordo didn't had the opportunity to use the latest developed Goodrich-tyres. There were only enough tyres for Loeb and Gronholm. (Don't know for Mikko). This explains maybe that he couldn't follow the leaders.

From what I heard there was a new tyre available (I dont know whether this was available to everyone (ie Duval et al). Ford decided not to even take it, and Sordo didn't want to use it. The only person who did was Loeb.

I think Frequlin isnt overly impressed either... from autosport.com.

(If they are not impressed by his tarmac form, they can not be too impressed with his gravel form.)

Citroen team boss Guy Frequelin admitted to some frustration over Sordo's result, as he had hoped to reduce Gronholm's lead to two points by repeating Citroen's Spanish one-two.

"They have moved closer to the leader in the drivers' championship and it's a just a shame that Dani and (co-driver) Marc (Marti) didn't succeed in splitting Seb and Marcus in the final results," Frequelin said.

"Dani perhaps lacked a little experience to adapt quickly enough to the terrain."

I think it was still a very good job by Sordo, his times on day 1 and 3 (less important) were very good, only his lost a bit confidence on the second day, maybe he was suprised about the continu speed by Marcus and became a bit under pressure but hey it's still his second season and he's improving, his times on gravel are better all the time, Spain and MC and even in Germany on day 1 was good work by him, defintly a strong title challenger in the next years !!
Let's also not forget he's clearly the second man in the team, less testing and did only the extra round in Ireland in the Xsara, not a C4 like Loeb!

Citroen's money isn't that big to put extra drivers in the team (otherwise they could hire some snow expert early on this season what was the best option, also for Sordo himselfs..), maybe Kronos/ Duval could find some extra money to "hire" a C4, that would absolutly crazy. At the moment he's on the start-list for Ireland, now the must find that money...

Kopecky will probably drive (and develop) the Fabia S2000 next year.

But didn´t Sordo use the new tyre on at least a few stages on day one? He was complaining about that the car was understeering a lot, and it was du to the tyres. Loeb, on the other hand did not complain abt the tyres... Might be wrong abt that though... :)

Ireland was not on Daniel Carlsson's nomination for MT points list, so Duval is not enlisted fot Manufacturer Team points and can use any hoimologated car, including a 2007 spec Citroen C4 WRC. He will be entered as a pure privateer then.

It seems Corsica and Spain showed up the Xsara relative lack of pace. Duvals pace in Germany can be explained because it was his 'home' rally, tricky conditions, and the active car.

I assume the Suzuki option has dried up?

Sulland: As Pluto wrote in National champ thread, it was just a misunderstood from a press conference. One journalist asked Mr. Kopecký sr. if they would like to start with VW Polo when it is from VW group too and Mr. Kopecký replied that it was one of the possibillities. Nothing more. I think they recently don't know in CRT too.

Only M1 teams can use 2007 cars! (Al-Qassimi is also using 2006 Focus, not 2007 like Marcus and Mikko)

That is not true.. manufacturer backed privateers can use the latest cars, like Pons using a 07 spec Subaru.

Only MT teams can not use the latest spec.. so Al-Qassimi can use a 07 car if Ford allow him..

In crash.net he says Wales Raly Gb is still possible. Maybe because OMV Kronos need one more two car outing to meet the rules??

No, Kronos and FIA has an agreement which allows them to have one car entries. So Duval's possible entry is not related to that one.
