with Yeley most likely going to Woods #21. Jayski has it too, but with some conflicting info.

Also reports Gibbs going with Toyota.

They're switching to become the lead team at Toyota as well.

That would be a fantastic thing for toyota. Likely the best team Toyota could have signed. Can't see hendrick, RCR, or Roush Fenway changing manufacturers.

Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford. Busch made his decision after recently narrowing the field to three teams; Gibbs, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and Evernham Motorsports. An official announcement is expected within the next 2-3 weeks.

In addition, JGR will jump from Chevrolet to the Toyota camp beginning in 2008, joining Michael Waltrip Racing, Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull on the list of teams running Toyota Camrys. Neither Busch nor JGR have made any official comment on the move, but Gibbs officials have already informed Hall of Fame Racing that they will not continue to provide the team with engines next season, prompting Hall Of Fame to contact Richard Childress Racing about a similar engine-supply deal for 2008.

Yeah, he's got clout, that is for sure.

Much as I LOATHE Tony, and love Hendrick, I hope Tony wins the championship so he shuts up for a while. This may have been his worst year in terms of bitching.

With Hamlin, Busch and Stewart, Gibbs has a very strong team of fast talented drivers. I think Hamlin is more mature than Busch and Stewart, combined. There's bound to be a little friction next year, but it's the type of problem that most team owners would love to have.
On the switch to Toyota if it happens. Next year will be all CoT, and right now I think Gibbs has the best CoTs. As long as there's nothing wrong with the Toyota nose, then they shouldn't have much problem in the chassis.
The engines would be the biggest question. Gibbs always has had powerful engines and I think their imput will improve all the Toyota team motors. Realistic worse case, they struggle with reliability/power, and run about 10th-25th for the first half of '08.

The coach might just be the perfect guy to deal with Kyle.

Yeah actually, I doubt that there is anyone better!

He's a kid (Busch), no doubt, but has a ton of talent. A change of scenery will do him good. What a driver lineup!

As far as the Toyota deal I know there is alot of anti-Toyota sentiment out there but the fact is they will be at the top of the sport in 2 years...max. Gibbs knows this and this is JGR's chance to be THE big gun as far as manufacturer support goes. They will get a ton of money and a ton of support and with that driver lineup they will be winning alot of races.

This is the next Hendrick Motorsports.

Agreed, and perhaps Busch the Younger could get anger management tips from Tony. :p

If major teams sell out to them then maybe they will become a stronger force but king of the hill i think not. its all chevy chevy chevy for the foreseeable future.

Hope this rumour turns out to be true, for Kyle to remain with one of nascars big 3 teams, with due respect to DEI and RCR, would be amazing and the best that could be hoped for.
Ive mixed feelings about the toyota deal.Chevy seems to be the car to drive, will toyota ever reach that level? On the other hand i drive a toyota so its kind of cool.
For all the J.J. Yeley fans out there, being a Kyle fan i feel for you, just remember its all Jr's fault!!!

I think Joe Gibbs will either be the smartest guy in racing in 2 years, or wishing he never saw Kyle Busch and Toyota. Time will tell. I think it is foolish though to bet against the Coach...

Smoke would be a safe bet to get Toyota their first cup win.

I doubt that any of the current Toyota drivers possess the skills necessary to diagnose issues with the chassis/engine on the Camry, and to produce feedback that can be used to produce genuine improvements.

Even with the car of tomorrow, this is what Tony brings to the table.

I wouldn't argue that point. I wouldn't bet against Smoke on any point. Plus adding the JGR technology to the mix would be huge. Mark Cronquist builds some pretty stout engines.

When this year started, I had two things I wanted to happen: Tony to win the Cup, and Kasey to make the chase (for my fiance, who loves the kid). The two things I didn't want to happen were: Kyle Busch to come to Gibbs, and Gibbs to go with Toyota.

Those of you diehard Jr fans... I am gonna need some help with this one. When he starts driving for Hendricks, how are you going to do it? You can't cheer for your driver and hate his teammate right? What if he'd have gone to the one car maker that you couldn't stand? How are we die hard Tony fans going to handle this?!?!??!

I think I just threw up in my own mouth.

I can cheer for a driver and hate his teammate. I did it all the time when Robby Gordon was with RCR. I like Harvick (not my favourite driver but I like the guy) and cant stand Robby. It was easy, painless even. I was a big Mark Martin fan while that jerk Kurt Busch was at Roush too. Didn't change my allegiance to Roush, and I knew eventually Jack would dump him. I am ticked that Busch was the first Roush driver to win a points championship, but that is life. You cant always win.

Now I am a BIG Jr. fan and I don't like Jimmie or Jeff. So I will likely enjoy Jr. when he does well, but still hope for rear ends blowing up or engines going south in the 48 and 24. Just as I always have.....

First of all, there is only 1 link, and until next year comes or I hear it on the local news, which I have not,I wont comment on Joe going to Toyota.Jpe is huge here in DC,and this would be news, and I have not seen it.But then again, money does talk.As for Elfboy jr,he has more talent I think then JJ,and the wins to prove it but it will be interesting to see how the coach can handle not just 1 hot head, but now 2.He may want to retire again from the Skins if the crap goes to far in the Nascar camp.

I think that with the Redskins record, and lack of improvement in the last couple, Joe will be back in the pit box soon enough.

There are a few pieces of circumstantial evidence that have come up to support the toyota shift. They claimed that JGR souveniers bearing the bowtie were on clearance at 50% off at Indianapolis, and Pocono. Also, there have been talks of JGR's inability to supply Hall of Fame with Chevrolet engines, which of course was "denied"

Why so much running straight up the gut.I watched the first half and turned it off because that seemed to be the only play Wash .was using.
As for Joe coming back I sure hope so, I don't think JD can handle the stables [egos] by himself next year.
