The spoiler on it looks really out of place and spoils it. I don't think I'll be rushing to get one like it.
Thats why its called a spoiler......

yes nobody is perfect, i think thats a fantastic model ! really well done. would anyone have any idea of any comapnies that make decals? im currently having pinkneys 91 production sapphire made for me but still have'nt found a company to make the stickers. its in 1/18th scale, the model is pretty much left as it was but has been sprayed in the white and pi k colours, wheels painted white and the wheel mountings cut so it sits lower.

Ebbro make a diecast race version of the Integra and yes it is expensive to get it converted and even more expensive to get top quality decals made and here are some more photos
I assume you used the existing/original spoiler that came with the original model?
PaulG

No the spoiler on the diecast was totally different I had to have a new spoiler made from scratch

Very nice collection!! Interested to know how you made the 81 Mazda, the 2 Rouse cars and more importantly the 89 Astra of Cleland. Did you get the decals made by the same company? and which models did you use?
Any chance of pics?

Sorry I've been greedy and have managed to pick up 3 of these kits all off ebay! But the last one I got was at least 2 years ago. I've made one of the kits but had major problems with decals (breaking up) and had to make the Briggs version. The other 2 are for Cleland and Thompson but I need to see if I can get the decals reproduced and I know one set are really poor quality.

For the Mazda I used a diecast and had it converted to a race car and there is a transkit made by Robustelli which had most of the decals and the guy who built it for me made the rest of the decals. The 2 Rouse cars are built kits that are rare but they do come up on ebay and for the 89 Astra I used an Opel Astra race car kit from Competition 43 and changed it to right hand drive and when I had it built the guy painted the red and yellow stripes on the front and rear and I had some of the decals needed and I had the other decals made. I will put some pics on soon.

No, I use them all the time :) Never had any problems, despite the unsecure ordering system. I wouldn't worry about it tbh, its just a mailto form which sends your details to their e-mail system, and whilst its unencrypted, the chances of you having a problem are remote at worst.
If your really worried, just give them a ring and order that way :) I've ordered from them online at least 20 times without a problem.

I used to buy from Trax many years ago, back then (and i am talking ten years or so ago) it was all mail order (via the post) not this online gubbins we use these days, cant you still order via a catalouge and then through the post (Royal Mail) ?
Failing that, do Trax accept Paypal as a form of payment? instead of giving credit/debit card details you could pay them via Paypal? i know of a few sites that accept paypal that arn't linked to eBay at all.
And i would have thought a Carl Breeze Alfa would be cheaper from off eBay anyway, rather than from i direct company like Trax models.

Here are some pictures of the 1992 Prodrive BMW I have been converting. Thought I’d start with an easier one first, I also plan to do the 1992 Vic Lee BMW for Harvey and Soper. Not sure what driver to do yet, I’m thinking of doing both Alain Menu and Colin McRae. Started with a Minichamps base, had to de-decal it, then respray it. Have started to decal it, just need to do the front end and the windows and add the correct numbers. Hope these are of some interest!

Thanks, I found that some were decals and some of the car was painted. I used WD40 to remove the decals it had, then had to T-Cut the rest. The problem was in some places it went to bare metal and in the corners I couldn't remove all the paint (Original car was white, but had alot of blue and red along the sides), hence the respray.

A lot of minichamps have their 'decals' painted on. The early M3's are okay, all waterslide decals. But the new BMW's are all painted... unlike the spark models..
I have just started to make a Mat Jackson BMW. Just need to sort the decalling out, I have a good friend helping me at the moment!
All the original decals came off no-problem, so no need to paint the car.
BTW, I never used WD-40 before..

The Mat Jackson project sounds interesting, I saw a fairly basic Minichamps WTCC BMW E90 at Brands yesterday and thought about buying it for a conversion (either Jackson or Turkington) but didn't. I haven't tried making my own decals yet, but was thinking of scanning and printing my own, but I'm going for the easier ones for the time being.

Have finished my first BTCC conversion more a less. Decided to go with Alain Menu first as he's a double BTCC champ! Some of the later decals were a bit harder to attach than the earlier ones especially the black bumper pieces.
I couldn't get rid of the original driver's name off the rear side window. So I had to cut around it and replace it with a slightly oversize peice and stick it in place. Also haven't got around to replacing the wheels yet, but at least these are black and from a distance it doesn't notice.
Think I'll try the 1992 Vic Lee BMW of Harvey next, just need to find a paint match for the green!

I could do with some help on this as well. I have found the paints to mix the colour from Humbrol paints, but I can't get the mixture right for the spray gun (I don't like using Humbrol paints).
Anybody got any other suggestions?

Thanks for the paint idea Kilomunns, haven't ever tried Humbrol paints before. The only other lead I came across was with the Decals for the Harvey car. The baymo instructions says for paint to use Vauxhall Mint Green, I have tried looking for this paint but to no avail so far.

It depends if it's a Minichamps or Motorart. If it's Motorart they are on ebay for around £10. If it's Minichamps your talking anything between £50 and £80, don't let it go for less than £50.

It depends if it's a Minichamps or Motorart model. If it's Motorart they sell on ebay for around £10, but are not as detailed or as good a quality as the Minichamps. Hopefully it is a Minichamps as they sell from £50 to £80. I wouldn't let it go for less than £50 though. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't really know what that would be worth then, I've seen Minichamps signed by Rydell go for £80. As it's signed by both Rydell and Walkinshaw should make it very exclusive. May be worth putting on ebay with a decent reserve and see if it makes it.

The only trouble with the reserve is the minimum you can reserve it for is now £50 and I'm not sure it would go for that price if it's a Motorart.
The 2 motopro cars should go quite well, especially the 1990 one as there haven't been many of them on ebay. The last one I saw was a couple of years ago and I bought it. :D It wasn't excellent condition thought but acceptable! But I can't remember how much I paid for it.

That's a possibility, but if it goes for lower it's your choice whether you accept it or not. I sold some old Vincent books last year with a £150 reserve, it didn't make it, but I accepted the last bid of £128.

I was also watching it, i think it was about £35 with a day or so to go, and i went to bid on it, but it was then upto a hundred odd quid, i decided against bidding in the end.
Pity too, its one i need to finish my collection. I also require a 1994 Tarquini Alfa, and while they have appeared on eBay recently, they always fetch silly money, or if they dont i forget about them and miss out.
Anyway, in recent months my BTCC list has grown a little, i now have all three Privater Mondeos from 95, Gravett, Cox and Neal, Aillo's championship winning Primera from 99, which effectivly means i now own each Onyx car produced, i think i might be one or two short, but i do now have pretty much all of them.
I have also seen the two Sierra's by Trofue, i dont have one yet, i will buy the set at some point, but i think i would rather have the Rouse car in its own seperate case, not so bothered about Soper's Sierra. Thats being picky though, its better value on eBay to buy them in the set, than on the very rare ocasion that the old Soper first edition comes on the Auction.

My senitimets exactly, my collection covers the super touring period only, and will do so. The only exceptions i allow are the Sierra Cosworths pre 1989.
Anyway, i wish i could get my hands on some of the rarer produced models, like the Toyota Carina, any year, as long as its BTCC, i would also like the late Mondeo hatchback, and a 1995 Cavalier. But you dont often see the build it yourself kits come up on eBay.

I thought the same, but when you look at the back view, the boot doesn't look quite long enough for the saloon, but it's certainly way too long for the Hatchback too. That rear wing looks way too small as well. I'd imagine it will be quite cheap as Oxford models are often under £10. No chance of us mere mortals owning one. I'll have to keep looking on ebay for a very small chance of seeing one on there, probably to be rudely beaten in the dying seconds. I'm now going away to sulk and bombarding Spark with hourly emails pleading with them to release it. :disturb:
Does anyone know how many they actually made?
Iain

I was told 200. Whether that was altogether, 100 of each driver or 200 of each driver, I can't remember.
They were only available to RAC employees and Team RAC members, drivers, friends and families, so I'm not sure if you'd ever see any turn up on eBay, as they are quite a special momento to have.

Autoart have announced they are making 1/18 scale versions of Rickard Rydell's 1994 and 1995 BTCC Volvos. The estate from 1994 sounds especially interesting! The price seems a bit steep, but I guess they may be available for less elsewhere once they are released. They don't appear to be on Autoart's own website yet.

He sure did! Luckily won the Nutall and Smith Cavaliers, to finish my Cavalier Collection. Was frantic bidding as he had alot of the cars ending at the same time. Did see KILOHMUNNS and daz90 bidding too. The Motorpro Sierra's went for crazy money, esp the Gravett one seeing as it will be released by Minichamps soon! What did the 1994 Cavalier go for?

Oh yeah! I ended with absolutely nothing :( .
I have got both of th Cavaliers but these were in better condition. I really wanted the Hoy and Harvey/Soper BMW's but both went for over £65!
I saw that DAZ90 finally got the 89 Rouse Sierra he's wanted for a while.
The guy who sold them is a nice bloke and as I've had quite a few dealings with him in the past and we've done a few swaps. He's decided to concentrate just on his Rally collection. It was good so see how much people were willing to pay as I've got most of the models he was selling (plus lots more), gives a good idea how much the collections worth.
May have to insure them seperately from the household insurance can anyone recommend any specialist companys?

What did the 1994 Cavalier go for?
I think it went for £53 or thereabouts. The same as one went for a few weeks ago actually. I've more or less given up with it now. Think I was lucky to get the 1993 car for £39 a couple of years back.
I see there are some 1/24 resin models of the Cleland 1992 and 1995 Cavaliers, plus the Leslie Cavalier of 1992 and 1993 ending next week. They have a reserve on them, so no doubt they'll be very expensive!

I have been trying to convert some models to cars that weren't made, soem went well others not so!
Converted a Minichamps STW Audi to the 1996 Biela. (this one looks good as I had a spare BBR decal set)
ONYX 1999 Spence Laguna to the Will Hoy car. (very easy as all that needed changing was the name as he ran with the same number, had a spare name set from an old Formule kit I had)
Racing Replicas 1994 Mondeo of Burt to Robb Gravett (poor condition model to start with but looks OK but obvious where the changes were as the replacement decals are white and the model was an off white)
Vanguard Rally Dolomite to Tont Dron 77 car (major problems as the decal set was quite old and some of the decals flaked when applying, even with extra solution on them. Something different though).
Still got too many kits to make and trying to get hold of another Cecotto Goldeneye BMW to change it to the Brabham car as I've managed to pick up a spare decal set (easier than starting the BBR kit!)

I think the quaility of Oxford diecast is pretty poor. As much as I want recent BTCC cars I just can't justify buying such poor quality models when there is no need for them to be so bad.
Let's just hope Spark or Minichamps take up some more BTCC cars. I would like Adam Jones's Leon to be made.

After today's race at Croft they should make a model of Mat Jackson's BMW..!

There is a picture of the actual Giovanardi model gone up on GPL now, don't know if anyone's seen it? For £9.99 I think it looks very good.

It does look good, other than the rear wing which still looks way too small, it's a shame they couldn't have got this right as it makes the rear end look completely wrong.

I have just received my Giovanardi Vectra from Oxford Diecast and I was pleasantly surprised, the quality is just as good as the Onyx models used to be and at £10 it's great value. After comparing it to photos of the real car the rear spoiler looks the correct scale and the model is a good representation. So if you are thinking of buying this model I would recommend it and if enough people buy it then hopefully Oxford will make more BTCC models in future. It would be great if they did the 2001 Vauxhall Astra because there are so many versions that could be made.

I agree, the quality did pleasantly surprise me, shame the plinth lifts the car up and makes the ride height look all wrong. Hopefully VXR will sell it at its stand at the next meeting, as thats where the biggest market will be. At least Oxford are keeping with the BTCC and making the 2008 version.
I've ordered mine. Can't argue with £10 to add to my BTCC Vectra collection. :)

Have you noticed that not only are GPL selling theirs at £14.99, their postage is also more at £4.99?
Where Oxford are £9.95 and £2.95 postage!
Got mine. As you say, Not Minichamp qaulity, but not bad for a tenner!

Yeah GPL have been a bit naughty and not reduced their price to RRP. A quick e-mail to them resolved this for me though.

I saw the Vectra in a model shop today. Looked really good for a £9.99 model. Still think it looks like a saloon, but that's a minor detail.

Just seen on Grand Prix Legends they have all three 2008 Vectra's to pre-order, but they are priced at £14.99. Luckily GPL do a price match :) ! Can't wait for these after the quality of the 2007 Giovanardi Vectra. Surprised they haven't done a Tom Chilton version, seeing as it would only take a couple of decal changes.

Why do you feel the need to buy from GPL as their postage costs are really high? I think and if you see the models for £9.99 somwhere else just buy it from them.
I have been buying a lot from Trax and they even gave me free P&P just because I asked them. I have always regarded GPL to be the most expensive model shop about.

I was only pointing out the fact that GPL has the Vectra models to pre-order, as that might interest some. I'll buy mine from where it is the cheapest and most reliable. Trax don't even stock the Vectra's (from what I can see).

My one and only BTCC model is a Onyx '96 Will Hoy Laguna which I've had for years. Keep considering getting a few more but usually spend the money on beer or my real car :D

Did anyone else order the Vectra from Oxford Diecast directly? I ordered mine on June 7th, got an email saying they'd received the order, then never heard anything until the 16th when I got one saying my order had been processed. Taking aaaaaaaages. :s If I'd have known that, I'd have got one from ModelZone in MK last Thursday for £9.99.

Has anyone else noticed on ebay that the 1987 Trofeu BTCC Sierra has started appearing from foreign sellers? What suprises me is that it is the Win Percy car which won Silverstone and not Andy Rouse or Rob Hall car that was originally advertised. Does anyone know any more about this?

Mine took ages also, about 2 weeks I think. They also send it 2nd class post which doesn't help. You'd think they'd be quicker as they are direct?

I noticed this also, the model number for the Car is TR121, which GPL have in stock as the Win Percy Car, whilst Trax have it as a pre-order but the Rouse car, but both with the same model number???

I received this week in the post the latest catalogue from Diecast Legends, which had some pretty amazing stuff in it - entire 2008 F1 grid, DTM grid, A1GP cars, nascar, 2008 le mans aston martin - but......you could easily spend 1000's building up your collection at the moment and I'm trying desperately not to get sucked in...!

Got mine this morning. 2nd class post indeed.
It's a good model in terms of the quality of the decals and it's solid. Ride height is a bit high and it still looks a wee bit like a saloon, but apart from that you can't complain for a tenner. Took some photos of it with the other 2007 BTCC model I have as a comparison and with a BTCC Cavalier and BTCC Vectra MKII! Will stick them up later.

Just finished a mod to the Giovanardi Vectra, added some Dunlop decals to the tyres, which finish the car off. Also once off the plinth the ride height does improve. Here's a piccy.
