Some people are discussing it, but Dirtfish clearly is trying to make a scandal out of it and judging by some posts in this thread, some people see it as a scandal. This team order discussion started here and with my friends way earlier than the DF published first news about it.
DF as a publication ofc is milking the very last out of it and this is also very normal for every news outlet in the World.

What a turn around from the "finnish village team", some older members will remember well...

Exactly my thoughts.
Once again NOT shows us he knows nothing about rallying. So according to him Toyota are the only professional team. How many times in 2016, before they even entered a rally, did he call them the village idiots that would fail on race day and then disappear into rallying obscurity.

His comments are just uneducated sensationalism trying to gain votes with the younger forum audience.
Anyway, I thought he was banned.

Well done Hyundai on a 1-2-3.

Yeah, i saw him put out normal, adult, posts before the rally, thats nice!
But in the end of the rally he is back as usual, sadly enough.

I was wondering the same but as I added NOT to my ignore list, I noticed that it's a new account as the previous one (N.O.T) already was on my ignore list.

Only on the last two rallies, with Aleks Lesk on the first ones.

JWRC co-driver title went to Brian Hoy

And great to hear that Tänak has been helping Virves

Q: We just had Ott Tänak in the WRC press conference and asked him what he thought about you and your result, and he was full of praise for you. How much has he been supporting you and advising you?

RV: He has been supporting me financially this year, making it also possible just to start the season so yeah, it’s been a great help from him. And of course if I have any questions about how to do anything on the stages or whatever he is the first one that I text.

It's especially weird in the case of JWRC when the driver is the one who gets the prize.

We had a really good rally this year!
Shakedown and SS1 on thursday were nice. Good atmosphere at the stadium!

Friday we did Harvati first, than Loutraki 2, few minutes by car, perfect!
Left Loutraki 2 after the WRCs and made it just in time at Livadia and after that also Bauxites with a very good spot at the final corners. Excellent day!

Saturday 3 stages, Perivoli 1, Pyrgos 2 and Tarzan 2. Good spots, but not as good as fridays :)
Sunday 2 stages, first Elatia-Rengini at the watersplash and than the powerstage.

Before the rally we were convinced next year we would choose Sardinia next year instead of Greece, but not sure now after this weekend. Photos will follow later!

How?

OK let me get my tie on and a peg on my nose.

Double points in Greece should only apply to the driver and they haven't nilled off one poor co-drivers round in the standings. Hoy and Korhonen have more points than Armstrong and Joona, should that make any sense? Unless I'm missing something, like Malkonen being a senior which shouldn't be a problem, I guess they have a secret clubhouse reason to crown Hoy. That's fine, it's how it goes, we've been here before and if she's not bothered, I'm not.

FIA are yet to publish their version of the standings though.

For once I'd give Sordo much less, like 5/10. Long time since he was so slow vs others on gravel.

Same with Katsuta, he had 40s slower time on gravel stages than a Rally2 car. 2/10

Breen 5/10 max, but that's just a detail.

Surprised he gave Greensmith so little, I'd even consider giving 5/10.

Back from the rally. We made a wise move and booked ourself an accommodation in Loutraki for one night, so we didn't have to drive the mega long road section so early on Friday morning. Saw SS 2/4 (Loutraki) and then moved to SS 6 (Livadia) by the powerplant (tip by NOT). Unfortunately our rental car had a puncture over there, so we arrived quite late and couldn't pick the best viewing spot, but still a nice place. On Saturday we took it easy and just did SS 9/12 (Perivoli) twice, with lunch, regroup and service in between. Sunday on Elatia at the watersplash. Have to say, Loutraki city is so much nicer than Lamia... Wouldn't mind if the rally moved over there in the future.

But could someone explain me the thinking of Greek rally fans? This happend on every stage: as soon as there is somebody trying to cross the stage between cars, all the greek people suddenly go very hysterical and begin shouting, whistling etc. Even though you are at a place where you can see/hear the car for kilometers before they reach you and you know, there are 3 minutes intervals. And at the same time you see other Greek people standing in the most stupid places, taking selfies in hairpins and nobody cares. Was quite fascinating.

At this stage it's hard to know if he gives such moronic ratings because he is incompetent, or just to generate clicks / discussion. I hope for his sake it's the latter, but either way, you can't help but get the feeling that pretty much anyone else could do a better job.

The same as being an expert in any subject........

Being a sportsman doesn't automatically mean you know everything; we see that quite often in lots of sports coverage/ analysis. The ex professional talking nonsense is a regular occurrence.

The problem with him is that while not having any background in rallying and in many years being close to almost everything in rallying he has not evolved even close to expert level.
While even recently I have started to agree on some of his thoughts, he is still way way way off and mostly talking nonsense.

Going into more detail on the issue which ended his Acropolis, the Frenchman believes the alternator bearing was to blame.

“I took everything apart to make the alternator loose so that we could put the belt back on and make it strong,” he explained. “I rebuilt everything and it was on a downhill, so we could jump-start the car.

“The engine started but 200 metres later it switched off again. The belt had jumped off again, so I think the bearing of the alternator broke was broke.”

The WRC Rally 1 top class is not fun anymore. Each rally this year has become more and more a lottery because of technical problems, handling problems which vary from Rally to Rally, from team to team. This is much less a factor with the current Rally 2 cars which are much more durable. I would be happy to trade in the Rally 1 cars for a much closer fight with Rally 2 and Rally 3 cars only.

If the rally will be rebased at Loutraki, we will support it and enjoy it.

But honestly I do not like so much the stages near Loutraki and Northeast Peloponnese that will be the main ones.

In such case they may include Dafni and Livadia from this year's edition, but regarding Bauxites or more stages from Central Greece, they are almost impossible to include with 300-320 competitive kms.
At 2012 edition which had more than 400 competitive kms they were able to include also Drossohori (mainly reversed Gravia), but this was the most they could do even with so many kms.

From Northeast Peloponnese I really like SS Ziria, it is simply fantastic, the landscape, fast flowing road mainly or extremely fast in some places.
But the rest stages, cannot much the classics from Central Greece, in my opinion.

In any case we will follow.

Things can happen but the problem was we were running out of kilometers, and of course we had done some updates on the suspension and we would have needed more kilometers.

“And the boys didn’t have enough kilometers with the new suspension settings, that was basically the problem when we came to the rally – that we had something new which we had not been able to run enough and do the finetuning.”

I think that actually speaks a great deal about Loeb.

In 2018 he had long experience with those tires and made a "wrong" tire choice based on his experience. This choice won him Catalunya.

This year he is one of the guys with least experience on the tire+ car combination due to few starts and not much testing. So he uses info from others, instead of just getting stuck in "I am 9x champion and I know best".

(Yet sometimes it gets brought up as "bad" when drivers try to copy/use info from other drivers).

if you want to promote your youtube channel i suggest you visit some nice spectating spots... those places are worthless and you should have stayed home.

So booking accomondation from last years maps would be premature?
More like 2012?

This year our plan is to visit Rally Acropolis (the last European round we are missing in our list). Is it normally possible to enter the stages via start or finish or even to enter the small villages near the start or finish line? Because our experience for example in Portugal was that, even the villages near the start or finish area were spacious blocked by police.

Looking for accommodation is too early? wrc.com says service is in Lamia but as always, maybe they are a bit behind. ;)

Access to stages in Acropolis Rally has nothing to do with Rally Portugal.
It is more or less free to walk across the stage. Access to villages is free and more or less easy.

If you want to book early, you can book two apartments (with free cancelation): one in Lamia and one in Loutraki.......

Thanks for your quick answer. That sounds promising – Portugal was way too strict in terms of spectator movement. But I know there is a big difference between the WRC events in every county.

When you do Acropolis - around Loutraki it will be easier for the debut, I think - you will forget about discgusting and derogatory behaviour of Portuguese police especially GNR unit, which is my favourite around the world, next to guardia civil from Spain:D

yes you can enter the stage from the start.. entering it from the finish and moving opposite of the stage flow is dangerous and you could be stopped though.

also some times stages close earlier than the 3 hour limit set by the organisers so i would suggest to be there earlier than that, maybe 4 -4.30 hours just to be safe.

it is really up to the marshals and police though... some are more strict than others.
