Unfortunately in this weather and in the dark the stage is really boring for spectating in TV.

The big problem so far is that they can not seem to be able to switch the correct cameras in sequence at all and half of their cameramen seem to have huge issues (not being able to follow cars, then zoom in too much with half car out...)

For what it is I think it's pretty good in person. I'm right at the South of the circuit. TV coverage looks terrible though!
My video, corner at 00:27 and 01:17 has been good, especially with WRCs. This is Oliver Solberg: https://youtu.be/8yUXs-2AvYM

pre-event press conference https://www.fia.com/news/wrc-rally-gb-press-conference

This bit was interesting

Let’s see what the weather does. If it does rain, it can be more consistent and wash [the mud off] the road – and if the sun comes out, the grip can get worse and it can be the most tricky.

as it seems we're in for a rainy morning but a non-rainy afternoon.

Had an ok day watching RGB today - didn't start well when Police closed the Wallasey tunnel while I was driving through it. I sat in there for an hour before they reopened it, which meant I was late arriving to shakedown and had a longer than planned walk all the way up to the stage, only arriving at a 90R just as Tanak started the stage. The action was good, though I can see from the videos linked earlier that there were better spots if I'd had more time to explore.

In the afternoon I went to watch the ceremonial start - not usually my kind of thing, but I live in Liverpool and the office where I work is only 500m from the rally start - so it felt quite surreal watching the cars drive across the road and park up at the place where I often go for a walk in my lunch hour! Went onto the rooftop balcony of the Mersey Ferries building (for the cost of a Pepsi in their bar) to get some panoramic photos, though unfortunately the sun had gone in by then.

Dyfnant tomorrow I think - can't be bothered getting up at 3am to do Elsi first (and get soaked in the process), so I'll probably just stay in Dyfnant all day and have a walk through the stage between runs.

On WRC Live it was hard to see the crowds but the weather looked like a proper Rally GB weather! Maybe the Promoter will now realize that fans don’t bother about the heavy rain and extreme conditions are a distinctive sign of this event. Fingers crossed for having again GB as WRC season epic finale.

Apparently the wrc promotor still uses horses.

50 years ago people all over the world watched neil armstrong set foot on the moon. Live. From 300.000km's away.
Nowadays there seems to be no way to make a stable connection beween a camera that is places a few kilometers into a forest and the nearest internet acces point.

Either we have gone backwards, or the promotor just doesn't care.

now over an hour till next stage

Sorry but I'm a bit tired of these complaints. I have never arranged a rally myself but I can say I have studied the rules and many itineraries pretty extensively. It's not as simple as you might think, refuels and things like that need to be arranged.

SS2 and SS3 were practically across the road so they started concurrently. To SS4 there's 90 km of liaison. Google Maps gives an estimated driving time of 1:45 from the end of SS3 to SS4 start. If the stages would have been spread more evenly, SS3 would have started later and you wouldn't have noticed.

Also, SS4 and SS5 are classic stages closer to mid Wales with a different character and I think it's worth the liaison instead of doing more of the narrow technical stuff in North Wales.

EDIT: Here you can study the itinerary https://d2cx26qpfwuhvu.cloudfront.net/wrgb/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/27131327/2019-Wales-Rally-GB-Route-1.5.1-1.pdf and there is indeed a refuel after SS3 and the liaison from SS3 to SS4 is 85 km.

EDIT2: Fast Eddie WRC should also study the Thursday itinerary and say again how reasonable it would have been to run SS1 any earlier.

Where did you see complaint? Just statement of fact. Or smalltalk. Or even if it is ment as a complaint then surely it is nothing worth getting upset about. I believe all members of this forum know thing or two about rally schedules. Surely such complaint is not meant 100% as complaint without hint of humor. Slightly off-topic - as avid reader, another book from one of my favorite series came out last week. Less than 12 hours later there were posts in authors page asking when would next part be about and "why not tomorrow". Nobody started to explain process of bookwriting and publishing, everybody understood that it is just humorous expression of frustration of having to wait for several months before next one.

PS Sorry if i misunderstood you and you tried to be funny instead of being seriously annoyed.

don't understand why they couldn't start the stage like 15-20min later, so than everybody could have same light conditions.. quite a difference between driving with extra lights and shadows vs without them.. especially with rain

Its weird to see they have wireless internet in countries like somalia or syria, but there are not even cables yet in wales.

What part of the ancient world is still using 3G.. that went out with wooden wheels and horse drawn carriages

Somalia and Syria don't have many forests. Wireless internet works pretty bad in deep forests. Even here in CZ where the internet coverage is great (better than in Germany for example) in the forests you loose the signal very often and it doesn't matter that much if it's 3G or 5G if you can't get the signal to the device.

Not easy to pick a time for Breen, if you give him the time of last car before him (Evans) it's stage winning time that will make him jump from 5th to 3rd, that doesn't look likely. A time around Neuville and Meeke is more likely, but that will still make him gain on Tanak and Ogier.

The numerous times he had trouble beating his team mates like Kalle Rovanperä, Kopecky etc.

The time he was beaten in his home rally by Katsuta who's really just a national shop window decoration for Toyotas Japanese fans.

The time he failed win the WRC 2 championship several times.

I was hugely impressed by Tidemand when he was a young gun that just came on to the rally scene and led rally sweden.

After that he became more careful, less risk taking and his pace just vanished and he just got "stuck" like so many others before him.

So many drivers hit a development roof where they just simply can not coax more speed out of their driving. This happened to Tidemand as well.

I've seen this happen for many years and I knew already then that he was no hope for the future. I told you this in previous discussions too ;)
