"This is my favourite stage. "I could do this twice again tomorrow. Okay, we have the lead, it's a good position to be in, and the car feels good, but there's still a long way to go."
SS6: MIKKELSEN IMPRESSED
He's four second seconds slower than Latvala - and laughs at his team-mate's achievement. "Jari-Matti's time is absolutely crazy. It's madness! Okay, I'm happy with my time - I've not felt so happy in the Polo on tarmac before - but Jari-Matti was insanely quick.. :D

I suppose the whole Dutch rally fraternity is holding its collective breath.
KA really deserves the car to hold together after the determination he's shown to succeed over the past 5 years and the disappointments he's had with the 208 this year. Top 10 WRC finish would be wonderful, fingers crossed.

at ss10 they are few seconds faster from ds3 r3 cars.

4th October 2014, 11:13
So WRC2 leader should automatically get chance in works team?
First he is not doing WRC2 as he is not registered. Second as You said it's his first WRC appearance this year but after 10 stages he keeps crushing all the all-time-discussed future stars like Tidemand or Chardonnet. Third he has done several ERC starts this year and in every but one of them he was leading since the start, never crashed but always his car broke down. He was not competing against nobodies there but guys like Lappi or Breen about whom we know how fast they are. IMHO he is the guy with the biggest potential among those without factory seat.

If people like Jonkka can't judge the speed of Abbring, leave them alone. For me, it's a very positive sign good drivers can become in the picture of the manufacturers. KA didn't have the big sponsorship on his career but was doing very good drives in the lower classes and each time he has a good car, he won or did remarkable times. Volkswagen already notices the speed of KA and contracted him for 2012 (to drive the Skoda Fabia S2000) but for some reasons he didn't got the WRC-car. Hyundai gave him two days of (secret) testing in the i20WRC and that was not for the fun.
He drove the French championship R3 class last year because he was left without a drive and saw a chance for a new step in his career because the winner got the drive in the Peugeot 208 T16 in some ERC-rounds. He won it and this year KA is very impressive in the ERC.
Now in France, his first time out there, he beats local & talented drivers like Gilbert & Chardonnet, hot wanted drivers like Tidemand and experience drivers like Pons and Sousa. And halfway this rally his advantage is almost a minute !!
KA is by far the most impressive driver this season, think 95% will agree with that here on the forum especially after the first 1,5 day in the Rally France.
Yes, he's like me a dutchmen and i'm really over the moon we will have for the first time a driver who will have a 100% workseat next year and the years after, read my words! It can be the the third or fourth car @Hyundai, maybe with VW or PSA will hold him as a worksdriver and gave him a Peugeot for the ERC (and some rounds in the WRC) or to compete in the WRC2 or maybe a third Citroën to compete in the WRC.

Since Catalunya 2009 I've been following KA's career - At that time I thought both KA and Hans Weijs were the quickest J-WRC driver (Prokop and Burkhart were in the event). What has impressed me is that KA has driven whenever and whatever he could, and hasn't used 'lack of cash' as a reason for not competing even though he might have felt entitled to a IRC/ERC drive. In my view VW made a big mistake in overlooking his potential, but then, they were desperate for Wiegand to succeed to the exclusion of common sense.

Of course I know that. I like them because they are very spectacular for the people. In most of typical spectator places R5 cars are boring (Fiesta especially). GTs are loud with bad traction, people like that. Of course in high speed sections they are not so nice to watch like S2000 for example but that's life. Something is good somewhere, something else elsewhere. I always like the variety and I'm absolutely sure that even though GTs would be quite slow and dangerous for Czech roads everybody here would welcome them just like always when they came to Rally Lužické Hory (Lausitz Cup wih Germans). They never did any good result but they always entertained the crowd.
Besides that don't forget that the cars currently running in Alsace are restricted with less power than stock ones...

I didn't follow rally today, I just came back and checked all-day activity. Well dear colleagues, nobody is praising R.Kubica !! My god, this is the event of his life ! Very consisting times, practically no mistakes, the fastest Ford, catching Sordo !! Well this is magnificent. Just keep on doing Robert.
Second to mention (my big love)-911's! Just imagine to have both drivers (sorry for Delecour, the accident was nasty one...) in non-restricted cars....
Third to mention- Kevin Abbring. Pray to get him to the finish....
But what is wrong with Neuville?? And the choice which made Hyundai with Bouffier turned out to be completely wrong. I hope I didn't offense his fans, but he is just a choice as a third car for a Monte Carlo.
Completetly agree with everything. Neuville - hmm. Probably this is not Hyundai's Rally, All drivers except Sordo are complaining with hard suspension couldn't make it work right. May be it is just technical?

Considering this is his best surface its about time he put in a decent performance. 'Practically no mistakes' ... you mean for him, just because he hasnt crashed off (yet).
I wish Kubica well, but I think his team-mate Evans has been more impressive in terms of improvement and consistency.
