I don't know what I'll do if VW wins again! Come on Lads!

C'mon be creative, formulate a sliding scale from Ogier down to Mikkelsen of forfeits. Don't hang yourself in front of your TV or PC, that's silly but you could run naked up your street shouting 'alles verdamt'

Or just accept the fact that Ogier is going to give a demonstration of car conservation as others wreck theirs trying to keep up!

its really Sad. i hope mikko gets that speed again and keeps it. WRC 2 looks more intresting to me to be honest.
Al-Rahji
Al-kuwari
Ott Tanak
Al-Attiyah
Protasov
Ketomaa
Fuchs
all these drivers are fast in some ways. can anyone tell me who is the winning candidate for WRC 2.

Al-Rahji is non starter
Protasov is driving with RRC (very old car, 1st ever winner Fiesta WRC, Hirvonen Sweden)
I believe fight is between DriveDMack cars (Tänak and Ketomaa) and Michelin driver Al-Attiyah. Tänak probably the fastest.

Agreed, but it can always get worse.

On a related note, I see Ford are well on their way to yet another successful rally.

This really is appaling. Firstly they need to bring Stage 1 Technology back to do the timing, I never remember it being this bad when they were running things.

It looks like the problem is on the wrc.com site team not the timing crew. Rally radio had all splits and times therefore the split and timing must have been working all the time. Only the wrc.com was totally useless.

About classification after 1.day: Latvala & Oggi-no need to spend words, combination of the most durable VW car and those two drivers is a healty lead after first day...
Meeke : Ok, could be better, could be also in a ditch....stay on the road and this is all....

Kubica : unbelievable, Robert didn't crashed ! Already this is a reason for (huge) celebration. But there are still two days, a lot of opportunities to crash.....Robert, for God's sake, stay on the road. Forget the times, don't compare them to others, just finish !! Yes, that is true also. Looks like the suspension travel plays significant role here, which they have in advantage among other teams, especially Citroen. Perhaps Ostberg must consider that also along with changing his driving style. Hyunday, ehhh, still the weakest car.

if its mechanical then yes, it cant be possible, I just rememberd Kangurs words in Poland and onboard view of the turned steering wheel while driving straight, but i cant find the original interview anymore, only found this from his FB page :
"We were accelerating out from the first gear corner when suddenly it threw the steering into a wrong direction and we had a small impact with a tree. Probably there were a stone in the deep line and electrical powersteering behaves very erratically in these conditions." maybe the turned steering wheel that i remembered was just an bent steering arm... i apologize for the "conspiracy theory" :)

I (the customer) dont care about that. This is their problem. I just want to enjoy my free time.

Then find something else to enjoy your free time... because money is running this world.

I've told you I've already found it. :D

But of course I'd want to have WRC live, I will prefer it than everything else available.

So now, no matter how many stages left for that day, if you retire and get back on Super Rally, you will only lose 5 minutes, regardless of stages left to run on that day?

So, Mikkelsen is currently 5 minutes and 20 seconds behind Latvala who is leading. Does this mean that without his 5 min penalty he would be in front of Ogier, who is 21.2 seconds behind Latvala? Also, if all 3 cars in front of Mikkelsen were to retire, he would be the winner, ahead of cars who have finished the entire rally? That cannot be correct, surely.

Rally 2 is illogic, and against the spirit of competition... we all know that, only FIA don't know. That's always the problem with them.

What about the Mikko's huge crash in Finland 2010? It's seem like something similar. Of course the jump in Finland was much bigger, but still. Can't remember what was the reason there?

Mikko´s crash in Finland was because of broken top mounting on left front suspension after heavy landing on Urria, if I remember correctly. But there is so many mechanical parts in steering that can bring your car elsewhere than steering wheel is pointing...

I just saw it in the EPG but don't have time to watch it.

It has it's benefits for fans, not being able to see a a particular car/s on day one and arriving day 2 with a reduced field isn't much fun but for competition it's a farce, especially with the new 5min maximum penalty, silly.

This^^^. Penalty should be 10 minutes minimum, but Rally 2 shouldn't exist at all.

No definitive reason was found. But Mikko's own hypothesis was that their largely new damper settings that year (Ford had even an extra testday for those settings) somehow caused the crash (=bottoming out that had an impact to steering I guess).

Yes, five minutes per stage.

To simplify the regulations, a five-minute time penalty will be applied for any super special stage missed, instead of 10 minutes.

Regular stage is = Special Stage
Special Stage for spectators called - Super Special Stage.

That rule applies only for SSS, instead of SS

If Rally 2 should exists at all (I'm also not supporter of it), penalty should be calculated on km base, something like 50 seconds per km on SS, and 100 seconds per km on SSS probably.

EDIT: I think this way drivers will be more sensible to endurance aspect of the Rallies, but I could be wrong.

Experience from Rallye Monte Carlo and the history of ERC/IRC speaks opposite. The events without rally2 usually have lower number of retirements than those with it.

I'm 100% against rally2. I don't mind bonus leg points like in ERC though but who retired shall be retired.

Why did they bring in SupeRally / Rally 2 in the first place - for the teams or the fans ?

I havent seen it have an adverse effect on a rally winner or championship.

All I would change is have it for stopping for mechanical issuese but not crashes...

Technically, yes. But since now it's 5 mins for each missed SSS and has always been 5 mins for each missed SS, end result is same.

In old rules be 10min for stage if you retire on last stage of leg and 5min per stage if you retire at any other stage.

Gotta check this - because if you're correct, this change is half-hearted and pointless.

Ah yes. Wording on FIA press release is indeed incorrect. Updated regulations state:

For all crews which re-start a time penalty will be applied. This time penalty will be as follows:
46.2.1 For every stage or super special stage missed: 5 minutes.
