No entirely over given the attrition rate - Super rally with 2 full days to go could get back to the points. As I see it only Hanninen can stop JML taking the lead and even if he does I don't see him holding it on the second passage

Up date - Hanninen massively slower than JML - lead to VW I believe!

Tom206wrc

So it's fifth SS winner in five stages and another change in rally leader.

Francis44

I think all three of the Hyundai cars were reported to have "strange noises" from the stages before, I guess the car is not capable of dealing with rocks.

So Ogier gains 4 places and a big bunch of seconds...

How? He only lost more seconds and gained 2 places, not 4.

jonkka
6th June 2014, 15:52
Four places? He was 8th and +21,5s from lead after SS4, now he's 6th and +19,9s from lead.
Latvala on the other hand was 6th and +18,7s from lead after SS4, now he's rally leader.

Francis44
6th June 2014, 15:52
I still can't believe we might have a proper battle between the VW duo if Latvala keeps driving like this. I can't imagine how mad Ogier will be if he gets beaten by Latvala twice in a row.

Mintexmemory
6th June 2014, 15:53
So Ogier gains 4 places and a big bunch of seconds...

Not on JML or Mads though!! Do Super rally now start ahead of the full stage completion crews?

TN is better off not completing the stage and taking 25 mins penalty to super rally

R5 are really fast cars but the r5 formula has a lot of problems. Of course it is cheaper to a wrcar but this doesn't mean its a cheap car.when you pay 165000(in english currency)you demand reliability.as i read in motorsport monday because some parts are from production cars you have to change this parts very often,so finally its not a cheap formula.i think its good cars but for national one day events, not for hard events.fortunately for these cars acropolis(the real thing) is out.i thing not even one car could finish our rally(the original as i said)without a bunch of problems IF ouf course could finish.

Powersteering is a problem in Fiesta, that's true.

There was a fair amount of problems with all R5 cars around. With Fiesta I recall mainly problems with overheating and electric glitches (quite frequent). With Pugs it's mainly the well known story with overheating. Obviously the reliability of them is worse than of S2000 cars. Especially in WRC events the reliability record of R5 cars has been far from impressive so far.

I remember that last rally Fuchs retired on the last stage of the Day and he got only 5 minutes penalty. Someone told that this is new rule and now it is only 5 minutes for each missed stage. Today I am looking the final leaderboard and I can see that Gilbert and Kruuda have both got 10 minutes penalty for not finishing the last stage. Is the rule changed back?.. was there such a new rule in reality? brr...

Oh that wasn't a new rule. Only a mistake done by FIA when they wrote the regulation ... How stupid they are...

Which is? I thought they already have new radiator ready for Ypres, but heating problems aside, now there are others, and may be heating is not solved yet. I agree with Mirek - R5 formula is bad, if Acropolis wasn't half asphalt, but old recent format, perhaps Peugeot woudn't win it, they must think of new way to cut the costs, probably normal fuel would be a good start.

now as we know that these 11 seconds were due to Latvala run the most of this stage with road mode without antilag i am not so sure.Engine ecu when see 132 water temp reduce advance/boost and you have a big bhp loss.
So Latvalas time is excellent under these conditions.Seems that he can handle Ogier at this rally this weekend.

Report only said that he turned it off, no mention when. I seriously doubt he'd be able to keep up with Ogier if he'd have to run on road mode for a long so my 2c is that it happened relatively late. Their difference was 6 to 7 seconds most of the stage (splits 5 to 9) and only in final split it increased to 9 and then to 11 at the end.

maybe the problem with als was between splits 4-5 when lost 6.7 seconds for about 6 kms.Maybe that was the point that engine temp went 132.
Switcing off als engine temp comes down progressively as kms passes.

Ogier has a cheek to complain about not getting splits and being told JML had stopped (but then continued) saying he could have gained even more time..

The gap plunged to 17.7sec, but Ogier felt it could have been even lower after confusion in the cockpit of his Polo R. He understood from a message sent to the car that Latvala had retired due to his problems and eased his pace, only to find later in the stage it wasn’t the case.
