no need to be a large supermarket....you can find snacks and refreshments in small trading posts on the pavements like these ones, they are very useful.

If you enter any place with even remote signs of civilization you will find them do not worry..in Greece 1 every 3 businesses has to do with food or drink of some kind

Today is a national religious holiday (holy spirit day so nobody went to work in the whole country, apart from myself :) ) so tommorow we are going to have news if the strike of the air traffic control workers is going to be total or partial or if the court judges that the strike is illegal in which case it will not go ahead.....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and forecast says 35C and sunny on Saturday at least. Life is turning good again :D

35 is a bit optimistic i would say...expect something at around 25-30 maximum especially on high altitude stages and if you plan to sleep in a tent bring a warm blanket....night temperatures are around 10C.

I'm arriving in Athens on Saturday, and if I can get my cousin out of bed in time, I hope to make it in time for the start. Do I understand correctly that it starts at 8 am? Also, I'll be taking pictures. Any particular location that you'd recommend? What lenses would people recommend as well. I have a 70-200 that I am guessing from the videos & pictures I've seen on this thread.

The rally is over for me....today i decided to go through special Stage Regini Elatia and Mavrolimni...Elatia and Regini were both dry and everything went fine but in Mavrolimni the conditions reminded me of Rally GB rather than Rally acropolis with Mud everywhere....Even some competitors who did the recce in 2wd drive cars stopped in the stage due to the mud and they were towed out....

The oil sump of our car broke while we were in the ss mavrolimni and we were forced to stop everything...shakedown is lost for me and quite possibly the whole rally.

I would like to thank Semeraro and Colombo who both of the kept us company while we were waiting for the road assistance...right now i am totally gutted :( :( :( :(

on some steep uphill sections it was impossible even for recce 2wd cars to move....and considering the fact that at this time of the year we get temperatures round 30-35 while this year we get around 20-25 with terrestrial rain... it is wet....ok maybe the pacific ocean is wetter this time of year...maybe.

The first picture is from Elatia a magnifiscent place to spectate and the stage was bone dry but as you can see there are clouds gathering so it might not be case on friday...this place if it gets wet is going to be a highlight and it gathers around 10 people maximum since most of greeks prefer hairpins....go figure.

the corner has opposite camber and a drop on the left and almost all drivers had their moment...at least those that try to go fast.

Just come back from shakedown.Nice action almost from all topcrews.On morning muddy in places,but as the sun was raising it became dry.
in recognitions Petter had problem with his sti subaru as it blew the engine.They asked us for lending them our gravel spec evo 9 to continue their recognitions,and we said ok.But after some ours they find a new engine and his sti was on stages again.
Cant wait for tomorrow.

Finally some good news for me....the car will be ready tommorow and if i am lucky i will manage to spectate 1 ss and then go on with the program the rest 2 days...ok its not going to be the same since i will be forced to go to places where all the ignorant spectator sheep are going to be due to the fact that i will not have the time to run through the stages myself but ok its better than nothing....

I really hope we do not get many retirements tommorow so i can see the rally at full speed.

Thought shakedown was very good with lots of choice of locations. No laptop with me so can't put any photos up until I get home. Hope the stages dry up and we get some proper dust over the next few days. Was very surprised to see the mud this morning but got better after the sun came out!

Östberg will drive on new pacenotes since his co-drivers Jonas Andersson's bag with old pacenotes was stolen in a train from Newcastle to London prior to the event. Allegadly Andersson was sleeping with the bag tied to his leg, but that didn't stop the thief. I just wonder shouldn't Östberg and Andersson be prepared for a situation like this and have copies at some other place. Last year after Hirvonen's crash in Finland there were episode with stolen pacenote book because it had fell of the car and at the time Jarmo Lehtinen said that of course they had copies elsewhere - though the latest versions are always the most valuable.

I got mine at the Market, it is from North One Television and claims to be the official WRC app with live splits etc. However it doesn't work for me, and I can see from the comments from other Norwegian users that it doesn't work for them either. I know there have been some criticism towards Autosport, but up until now I've though they would've been at least somewhat independent - if not unbiased in their stories at least bringing in something new, perhaps another angle to a story. But now - exactly same story with Q & A's from Latvala - one on wrc.com and other Autosport site. On other site it says "the Ford driver told Autosport" and on the other "the Ford driver told wrc.com". On Autosport it has David Evans in the byline, so it's hardly an M-Sport press release - or is it? I've not kept record on this, because I don't always bother to click on the stories on wrc.com- has it happened before? It makes nice contrast to the story autosport.cz published today on FIA priority drivers issue - through Googlish that didn't sound force fed. And there's nothing wrong with the story, just how it've been multi-channeled.

Well, what an incredible day!! Went exactly as planned, left SS3 when it was stopped, anyone know why?? Was at the lake section with a muddy bit, luckily nobody slid into the crowd but a few of the top guys were on the grass, Mikko nicely sideways and kept it planted, Kimi on the brakes and stalled..

Went from there to beginning of SS6, and if I had known what a climb it would be to get there I wouldn't have bothered, seriously it nearly killed me, my legs were shaking and my head was spinning and I didn't have a clue what I was doing!! :s Anyway forced myself to continue until there was a corner with some sun but when standing on the rocks halfway through the stage my legs gave way and I had to grab a rock to stop myself falling over the edge :eek: So a bit sore but now just looking forward to a late start in the morning...... But anyway really enjoyed driving around today, some spectacular views! :up:

only 2 ss today Jamie?!!
i watched 4 ss today with no hurry(ss1-2-3-5)
Petter was fast and most spectacular by far.Ogier also at some places.
Bit dissapointent from Latvala and Mikko in terms of speed.
Quickly for sleep now cause 4 ss waiting for me tomorow.

jump of the day goes to Henning....Solberg, Loeb, Latvala and Ogier were fearless

Kimi was nothing he lacks everything to become a rally driver ...as expected.

Bryndnilsen had a big moment and he managed to save the car...otherwise i think he would still be rolling....

What exactly happened?
“We came to the start of the stage, everything was fine. We had discussed things with our engineer and we were happy and ready to start. About 500 metres before the start, we went onto some gravel section there was no drive to the front differential anymore. We had nothing. There was no time to do anything, we had to just go into the stage and drive. We tried to do the stage as well as we could. It [the front differential] gave some drive in some moments, but it was very difficult to drive, it was pulling from one side to the other.”

Well we've had one Ford win this year, it's kinda boring seeing the one team win over and over, but Solberg is very deserving of his position at the moment.
