In Waldviertel on SS12 first 4 drivers have exactly the same time, amazing:D. Great performance by Lukyanuk with completely new car on new surface (more or less), amazing driver.

In Waldviertel on SS12 first 4 drivers have exactly the same time, amazing:D.

They have the same time because Mrlik, Trencsényi and Lukyanuk was stopped at Lategans crash site and got a notional time.

Very typical weather at Waldviertel this year again with fog, rain, mud and dirt. But it offered great action, especially the Russian/Ukrainian team. On the other hand, many cancelled stages on saturday, which put down the enthusiasm of us specators. Especially at the finish of stage 12, where we could not see the 3 fastest drivers. Also many cancellations for the Hungarian field. I hope they are not too disappointed and come here also the next years, as it was really enjoyable to watch them.

Here is the provisional entry list for Santa Domenica Rally Show, the biggest rally event in Croatia:

With more than 130 crews in all kinds of cars (from fiat 126 and trabant to Octavia WRC, buggys etc.) good fun is guaranteed.
Main favorite for the victory is last year's winner Harrach in his Fiesta, but i'm sure the others will also try to fight.

I haven't noticed no one to mention: previous weekend at Rally Comunidad de Madrid (Spanish tarmac championship) won Sergio Vallejo. His second championship crown (after 2009) with Porsche 991 GT3 cup.
That means we have this year two national champions with this attractive cars (Zeltner in Germany). Congratulations!!

Võrumaa winter rally will be held on Saturday.
Entries can be found here: http://autosport.ee/rallyreg/index.php?page=27&race_id=324&
A few names that must be highlighted are Pärn with R5 for first time, Kaur, Aus, Murakas and Kõrge with Evo 9, Vorobjovs, Plangi and RZEZNIK with Evo X
2WD calss is very competitive including: Volver, Gryazin*2, Siniorg, Uustulnd, Kuusik*2 etc.
The region has a lot of snow and ice at the moment. There will be few + degrees before and during the rally but it is not too bad. As I said, there is a lot of snow and ice, I was there over the weekend.
The results will appear on the same page where you see the entries.

I think that the rule is that they must be below 25 years old, they must drive A6, N2, R1 or R2 car and use DMACK tyres. It seems that there are a bit softer rules for national DMACK Trophy, there is also one C2R2 in the list. Conditions are really very interesting. It is currently 0 on the surface, 0,5 in the air and -1 overnight. The road surface is full ice and snow around the stage. There were numerous offs today, during the recce. Tomorrow will be -1 in the morning and up to +3 but roads are mostly solid ice and they should last... very, very, very slippy.

Short report of Estonian Championship round 2 Võrumaa winter:

Rally was held in near perfect conditions. There was a lot of snow and ice on the road surface. However, the temperature was up to +3 degrees by noon but the rodas were still very good. Little gravel came out only in a few places.
Pärn/Morgan did their first rally with MM Motrosport Fiesta R5 and they won it. They did good job. Fast enough to win the rally but nothing crazy.
Plangi was showing his good form an he has now won all the rallies or all the class wins this year. That was win nr 4 for him.
Kõrge was doing fine at the beginning but later lost to Plangi.

Aus lost the rally at the very beginning when one of his tyres decided do get rid of the upper layer. It has happened with this tyre company before and it happened again, twice. Similar thing happened to Kaur if I am not mistaken. Additionally, Kaur had some gearbox trouble and he lost some time and positions during last two stages because of this problem.
Volver was the fastest 2WD, he had one puncture as well but not with too major timeloss. This puncture was the result of going a bit too wide.

Any else here ever wonder if Baumschlager tosses and turns at night un-able to sleep before events just thinking what his name means---in the context of rally?

Interesting. Especially as this rear wing is really important and without it car behaves completely different. OK, I'm not sure about the Mini, but other WRC, R5 cars for sure.

Each year the competition is getting worse in ORM, 67 crews at the start of the first day in Lavanttal Rallye 2015(of these only 37 in the Austrian Championships),1.Baumschlager(S2000),2.Neubauer(S2 000)+1:41.........3.Böhm(S1600)+6:45,4.Wollinger(R 2)+8:24.
I think that the problems is money and sponsors, than elsewhere in Europe.

Many Austrian drivers (Aigner, Danzinger, Brugger, Saibel, Mayer and some others) stopped rallying too, so now there´s only Baumschlager on Top, Neubauer some margin behind, and then nothing for a long time. It´s like Bayern Munich oder Manchester United playing in local football league.

Same everywhere....Here we have a couple of millionaires who never did anything at all and POOF! suddenly with ZERO previous experience they buy a couple of Subies--or rent really and a service contract of USD35,000 per weekend---and they are "Heroes"..
against guys worse than your or German regional events.....

The real shame is that a whole generation know nothing else but there out of the real world cars, so they can't imagine having fun rallying anything "less than latest spec'..

Maybe you guys should study what the Finns do---who are in the same boat with the modern cars-----
But have the possibly best rally competition series in the world in their "F-cup"
One recent event I look at in the F-cup Senior, in every stage 1 minute covered the whole field of 56-58 men..
1st thru last one minute difference...
Every stage, fighting for 1-2-3 seconds...

Speaking from my point of view as I'm living next to Austria and therefore following Austrian rally scene very close I must say that this season is a real disappointment (hope the things will improve over the year..). The economy in Austria is very strong, there was almost no recession, the state is prosperity....but less and less money in rallying. I don't get it...

Can you share us which ideas were blocked from Austrian federation ? I'm afraid that the bottom of the problem is always money....you can bring as much ideas as you can imagine, but if nobody is willing to invest in rallying, than the situation is as it is.....

Most critical point I´d say is OSK wanting to perfectly act like FIA 1:1, or even less couragous than FIA, without considering local characteristics .
Drivers and Fans want an historic championship (there are so many old rally cars in Austrian car ports not being used because of OSK reglements), R/N-GT class - and even WRC-cars like in czech championship this year.
OSK is acting arrogant it´s said and is not noticing that Austrian rally sport goes down more and more.
In fact there is a steady quarrel between OSK and drivers/teams.

Just one stage until the checkered flag at Rally Islas Canarias ''El Corte Ingles'', in the lead Miguel Fuster with 911 GT3 Cup, second Armide Martin with Ferrari 360 rally.....as it was a circuit race.....Two prominent guests at this rally : Didier Auriol and Juha Kankkunen, both with C4 WRC. Sadly, Auriol retaired while in the lead, but Kankkunen is no friend to tarmac and is behind both GT-R cars.....
I hope to will get some photos, this must be a ferocious scenery with GT-R cars on this island.....

Google translation to english should be still understandable.

Short summary: Before season several teams requested to use standard gas station fuel (100 octane) for the ORM 2015.
As it turned out standard gas station fuel labeled as 100 octane can have quite deviations and has mostly higher octane numbers.
As the controlling is so quite useless and due resulting problems with the engine mappings the decision is revoked.
From now on like before standard FIA Racing fuel is allowed again.

Neubauer complains about rules changes during the season at short notice before the next round, about costs for the needed new mapping etc.

Neubauer also complained about this short decision just a few days before next run of Austrian championshipt this weekend (Wechselland Rallye), when he already ordered fuel for it. He´retiring from Austrian championship for the moment.
Also his team leader Max Zellhofer is retiring from championship.

On the other hand much criticised chief of national Austrian motorsport organization OSK, Dietmar Hinteregger, finally retired yesterday - and I believe this was truly necessary.

No more Neubauer, Danzinger, Aigner, Saibel, Mayer, Brugger, no more Stohl racing in rallying - a shame :-(

Austrian Forum says sudden change of rules regarding racing fuel is because of Baumschlager´s Fabia R5, which needs racing fuel for going to the max. This is said by Neubauer´s Team ZM Motorsport in a local newspaper.

Other sources say Red Bull (main Sponsor of Baumschlager) was urging OSK to change fuel rules back to old regulations at presentation of F1 Red Bull Team in Vienna recently.

Now Baumschlager can fight with EVO VII-Mitsu´s and R2/R3 class cars ...

That's very weird statement. Every racing engine needs racing fuel to get to the maximum. Even with Evo IX the difference between proper 102 octane racing fuel and stock "Shell V-Power Racing" is around 20 Hp according to a dyno chart I saw few years back.

The problem with real racing engines (S2000, S1600, RRC, R5 etc.) is that with the stock fuel the octane number and exact chemical properties are not guaranteed. Stock engines and their ECUs can cope with variable fuel quality but it's much bigger problem for racing engines. You can not make a laboratory analysis and new mapping for every petrol pump on the road. It's not only about lower power.

There is also a risk of engine damage. For example if You take a petrol on the pump in time when it is being supplied from tanker you get some water into Your tank. There is always water on the bottom of the tanks of petrol pumps unlike in the barrels of racing fuel. When You start filling the tank from tanker You whirl the water which is normally sitting down and it gets in the fuel.

Another point is what Hari stated. How can You say what is a breach of the rule when the stock fuel doesn't have guaranteed properties. How can You check that? Such rule simply doesn't make sense unless there is a single fuel supplier for everybody.

All in all throwing mud on Baumschlager is senseless.

Final results Wechselland Rallye 2015:
01. Raimund Baumschlager/Pirmin Winklhofer (A/D, Skoda Fabia R5) 1:27:59,4 Stunden
02. Michael Böhm/Katrin Becker (A/A, Suzuki Swift Super 1600) +2:07,2 Minuten

In the last special stage over 25km Baumschlager had a puncture in the front which damaged also the brake.
He lost quite some time, but as also the second placed Martin Kalteis lost some minutes due an off, the margin to finally second placed Michael Böhm was big enough to score the first win in the Skoda Fabia R5.

Despite the known problems before the event, it was a nice rally with lots of spectators.

Seeing the superiority in comparison to Fabia S2000 (power, torque) when Raimund was attacking in the Pre Event Test on Thursday - I have no more doubts about the speed - huge improvement compared to the S2000.

Wiegand is the secret winner of Thüringen Rallye. He was fair enough to finish the rallye in service and not on the finish ramp.

Yes. It is more difficult to explain, but in very easy explanation - german championship you must use different fuel from local sources (local petrol stations). And consumption of this fuel was higher than expected.

Yes he's schooling everyone else again. Conditions were tricky yesterday though and many drivers apparently had the wrong tyre choice. First time for Swaanen (Fiesta WRC) and De Jong (DS3 R5) in their cars as well.

I´m not sure what you mean and I really don´t know all circumstances in Estonia, but from what happened to L-E Thorp he was about leaving the stage and walked with his co-driver away from the stage on a road below, when the car rolled and like I said went far from the route hitting him and his co-driver. Maybe something similar happened yesterday I don´t know.

Nice photo of Swaanen! Rallying in NL is going through a difficult time for a few years... Around 2007-2009 it was a much better championship than it is now, as almost all rich gentlemen-drivers prefer rallyraid lately... Having no media tabard anymore in NL is in some ways a good case. It's a good system to allow a select number of people who know what they are doing on the stage. The problem is that there are always some idiots, and that also the well-informed and experienced people can make mistakes, misjudge something etc. Also in WRC it's just a question of time before some media-photographer gets killed by a rallycar, and it could be a "regular" as well...

This weekend the 2. round of the Slovenian championship took place- Rally Saturnus Velenje. It also counted for the Croatian championship and Mitropa cup.

The competition was very good. We didnt have such copmetitonion for a long time. The top 3- Turk, Šebalj and Humar were in its own league. They were driving like crazy. The rally was also very demanding- 15 stages in 1 day (150 km). Out of 84 crews only 38 finshed the rally.

Easy 1-2 for the Fabia R5s in Germany after Zeltner retired.

Wallenwein used DS3 R5 in Thüringen and was nowhere near Kreim but now when both had Fabia R5 it was quite close.

By the way among R2 Gryazin won over Sirmacis.

Baumschlager wins Schneebergland Rallye and can already be congratulated for winning Austrian championship 2015 (his 13th title) - yes, already at this time of the year. Grössing on Fiesta R5 as expected didn´t prove himself a serious rival to Baumschlager.

The funeral of the Balkan Rally Champion Todor Slavov will take place on Wednesday (July 1st 2015) from 12 to 15 pm. in the Cathedral "Свето Успение Богородично“" in Todor's home city Varna. A tribute convoy with car racers in their cars will accompany Todor Slavov to his last journey.

His co-driver took a lot of money with him when he went to co-drive for Janika / Peugeot Hungaria, and now they can only afford the Mitsubishi (although he says it's because the Lancer is better suited to the Hungarian stages).

As far as Herczig goes, he became the champion, one week after Raimund's title, so BRR is quite happy at the moment. :D
