The stages are too short and the cars have too much grip but apart from that I like it. Ive also had some pretty meaty crashes in the 6R4!

I've seen some youtube videos now and I don't think I'll bother. The stages are too wide and simply not long enough. I remember doing a 10 minute stage on WRC once and it was great fun. Dirt 2 and 3 are a little bit too... ADHD in my opinion.

The rally part of D3 Is the best ever seen from Codies.
Pure rally atmosphere, realistic stages, decent cars list, awesome sounds for both cars + enviroment
and brilliant time of day and weather features.I like the handling more than Dhttp://www.motorsportforums.com/images/misc/progress.gif (http://www.motorsportforums.com/editpost.php?p=921373&do=editpost)iRT2.
May be kind of grippy, but I prefer It from the drifting/oversteering style of the previous game.
Amazing how each car reacts differently, to every Inch of the road.
Regarding the stages length, I agree they should be longer.
But even the short ones, are very Intense and challenging, so you don't get bored racing them.

No comments about the Gymkhana, Landrush e.t.c. Still alien stuff to me. :D

I wish this game Is just the warm-up for a CM future full rally game!

Well I ended up getting this yesterday. First impressions are that it's quite a lot better than DiRT2.

Positives - Noise, the cars sound spot on.
Car choice, even at the early stage there's some great cars
Stage width, not a complete positive but at least narrower than we've seen recently
Gymkhana, I quite enjoy it...although don't like the way you're kinda forced to do it.

Negatives - That twatty American that comments on everything in the menus etc. If Codies insist on including him then they could at least give us the courtesy of allowing the option to turn it off.
Rally, it's not called rally racing you ****wit. It's rallying.
Raid etc. Doing an event last night and HAD to do a raid event to get the points needed. It's a **** addition that I don't like doing and I was forced into it.
Grip, jaysus christ there's far too much grip on the front wheels and likewise rear wheels for some of the older cars like the Manta.
Loading times, the menus are so complicated with the cars in the background that it seems to take forever to load the tiny little stages. A more simplified menu could shirley reduce this time.
Stage length. We all know this one, the design is good but the stages are getting shorter and shorter in these games. And what's with the mountains and tarmac in the Safari?

On the whole I enjoy it but the irritations really get to me (especially the stupid comments "That gold looks good on you").

Co-driver is cleverly in the 'driving style' part of the options (in which you can also change the horn but nothing to do with the handling or STYLE of the car). You either have the bloke or the woman and there is a choice between basic (medium left, fast right etc.) or advanced (3 right tightens into hairpin left) notes.

My favourite rally car from when I started watching rallies in the 1980's with Brookes and Jimmy McRae going head to head in their Manta's... great days. And then I owned a Manta myself and loved it...

There's no point for some of us, with PS Store down I can't even use the Sierra, R4 etc. because can't access the bonus code. I really do wonder what the point of that is, why include something in a game but fence it off from anyone without internet access?

Since when did these games have anything to do with reality? The sole purpose of the DiRT (why the hell is the i lower case btw????) series of games is to flatter the person with the controller in their hand.

Interesting and challenging stages, but far too much overlapping which makes the stages boring after 15 minutes. I think about 5/8 stages end at the same spot. However, some parts of the stages are really narrow and fun to drive, but again I find the hairpins too open. Is it worth 59 NOK? I´m not sure.

Really good surface changes from ice to dry tarmac. It's quite challenging in a RWD car like the Escort or Kadette, but then I found it even trickier when I tried it in a more powerful 4WD car. Well worth the money. :)

Although I did notice a bug last night. I hit a snow bank which sent me crashing towards the ground nose first, where the car then disappeared below the surface of the road....

Was he giving it beans? My only complaint is that he doesn't always opening the taps like you want him too, although from the few times I've been on the RAC it does seem like he's getting happier with driving it quickly. There's one thing really annoying me at the moment - the co-driver. Because the Monte stages are narrower than anything else in the game, now and again the back of the car will touch a snowbank or a rockface. Or how about losing the complete 'Raid' part of the game? Lose the buggys, lose the trucks and lose that tracks. Probably leaves enough data for some decent alterations without killing too many stages.

Looks like CM have received the feedback, never reuse common stage sections again:

Paul Coleman-Senior D3 game designer-on twitter:
'We are aware of the fact that people don't like stage reuse so we may just go with less stages that are more unique.

more unique? what a moron, its either unique or its not, it cannot be more or less unique.

Just lose the DiRT and return the "Rally" again! Have to admit, I bought DiRT3 though. Can't resist!

At my local CVS they still have a few products left from the 50-75% off products, but only a few. They always have sales like buy one get one half off on certain brands like Revlon or Maybelline, and also if your a CVS member you earn extra card bucks.

Is there any more download content to come?

Here's Paul Coleman's (DiRT3 Senior Game Designer) answer on twitter, answering a similar question:
'We are investigating some stuff at the moment. I cannot give any details of what that might be though, sorry.'

Whatever that means...

I hope there's some more. I've enjoyed most of it so far, albeit a bit too expensive..

Indeed. £40 on the game, then all the MS points to get extra content. Almost as bad as Forza 3, but with nowhere near as much depth as that game! I'm bored with Dirt 3 now, there's not enough to do in it. And that's just casual playing, picking up the controller for half an hour or so, not intensive 5 hour sessions every night.

It would be great if some of the tracks from the old CMR games were available for download, like australia from CMR3 or 4 and and GB from CMR 2.0

Yes, you can't make a game that is so good that people will want to play it for years, because then they won't buy your next game......

In that case they're dumb...why not build a core game that is very strong to kick off the sales. You then spend the remaining years (lets say 3) creating DL content available throught XBox Live, PSN etc that continues to build on the core game.

So many other game genres do this - RPGs for example I don;t see why racing games should be any different. The ongoing love fro CMR2 and RBR is not out of some rose-tinted wish for bygone gaming eras, it's because the games are enjoyable and a challange. I still dig our WRC2/3 to play rally games now because DiRT and the official WRC game are horrific.

Agreed! I play point to point races online for a bit, but the fact you cant put together an offline rally is ridiculous, and very annoying as you do a stage, return to menu etc.

For Dirt Showdown there are now 2 versions. 1 is normal. the Second "hoonigan" edition just has a exclusive set of liveries and you are more advanced in the games when you start and is a few dollars more. A bit of a rip off as I bet you can get the liveries from a DLC in future.

I am happy to have read the other day that DIRT 4 is on it´s way. This was mentioned in an online interview with a producer of the coming Showdown. When it is due is hard to say, but considering the publishing rythm over the past years, I would say sometime in May/June 2013.

Any clue about the content? Hopin for less Baja trucks and buggies. They did not fit in with the other elements in Dirt 3 (Dakar vehicles also were slightly redundant).

Paul Coleman (Game Senior Designer) has twitted there will be a focus on rally/rallycross with longer and more technical stages.
Gymkhana and buggies, trucks e.t.c. will be out. There are some rumors Hillclimb events are replacing Trailblazer, but aren't confirmed.
Let's see what happens with the FIA WRC license first; If It stays on Milestone after 2012 or Codemasters will go for It!
