Reported steering problem, not powersteering, but something loose. Trying to fix it after stage, but looks like a problem inside steering rack.

I don't think it. There was never a teammate of Loeb that was allowed to win when he was second and the teammate first.
Argentina 2004? Finland 2004 (although for the podium)?
Cmon lets be serious, how many times it happened to Loeb to be behind a team-mate since 2003-2004? Only Sordo last year in Spain wasn't allowed to win because there was a championship at stake.

It's so typical. So incredibly typical. Just when you think he's gonna make it, in this case secure third place, then some kinda problem appears. Might believe it's sabotage, if it wasn't for the fact that he's the unluckiest man on earth.

I believe you're right but at least he has already got the speed. Now he only needs some more maturity. Other drivers never got to the first step: to be quick... And as they are slow, they never go off! :D

As you hear him say it was a fast right and he just touched the side of the road. You can hear the bang and that looks to med that he hit a stone or something. And there was a single tree there as well....
To me this was just unluckky. Not a driver error. If it had been Loeb he just had to restart and put first gear and drive away...

I think the key point that Ogier won Loeb is that 2nd passes. Loeb yesterday and today couldn't reduce the gap significantly while Ogier on Friday on the 2nd passes was still taking chunks of time. Maybe Loeb took it little bit more easy on Friday and he did a mistake yesterday on SS11 when he looked the tyres according to Sordo's split times than Ogier's (Quesnel said so, driver-team misuderstading which splits to send to Loeb's car).

He must be very dissapointed. With himself first, as he has not manage to win a single WRC event and now Seb probably will, he deserves it. Probably with his team too, since he was never allowed to fight Loeb a win, the very few occasions he had. Anyway, if he manages to be ahead of Mikko like in Portugal (with no problems it seems possible), I think there's a chance to have a different seat next year.
BTW, I wonder what Loeb is feeling if he finishes 2nd here, if he thinks of Mikko, Italy 2009 and the point difference in the standings last year. Last year he was also leading by a big gap and he had to fight tough at the end. One might think that it can't happen two years in a row, but remember '91 and '92 seasons, when there were two guys who, by midseason it was almost done, but they finally lost the tittle.

the main difference is that the closest rival is someone that citroen controls (Jordan anyone ?)so he doesn;t have the same pressure. the ford kids are nothing this year, so even if Loeb retires in some events i doubt the ford boys can win them.

Four different winners in one season, haven't seen that in a while. Great for Ogier, well deserved.
I wonder what Sordo thinks right now...

sordo is in a strange position....lets not forget that Ogier can go flat out without any regrets....Sordo has a very important job in the team this year.
lets not forget that Ogier can go flat out without any regrets....
According to him self in an interview he gave to mtv3, the team hold him back in mexico.

Ogier is the new man, his first time in the C4 in rally UK it was already impressive, last season in his first complete year it was good, quik learner and now this year so far, it's really really good. He is for sure a big thread for Loeb, already this year!
Ogier is fast on tarmac and if there's a mistake by Loeb he's there.
Very interesting. I'm glad there's Ogier (and also P.Solberg) in the C4 because Ford is letting it complete down...

Ogier is not typical French driver. He is much faster on gravel than on tarmac. He is about the same level on tarmac as Mikko right now. But with some more testing.. this guy can develop fast.
And about what happened to Tänak. It was tricky corner where many Portuguese drivers have had offs. It was tightening corner and they slide a little bit wide hit the bank slightly with the rear end of the car and it took the first part out off the road as well. As a result joint broke down and their rally ended there.
The question about his retirements:
1. He retired in Turkey due to the communication problem between him and co-driver. He understood that after the jump there is a straight but there was the rock-face and it ended up as his biggest crash.
2. In Sweden he retired after the last stage due to the technical problems.
3. In Arctic Rally he drove first time with WRC car and retired due to the engine problem.
4. In Estonian Winter-Rally he won with his Subaru in front of Gross Focus WRC
5. At the end of last year he won the Gr N in Saaremaa Rally and Estonian title.
6. He won minirally in the frames of Pirelli stardriver competition
7. He went off in stage 7 in Finland after the jump when one suspension component broke down during the landing.
8. He finished in 20th place in Rally Portugal last year. He had to use superally for the last stage of the first leg because due to his low starting position he caught slower car and while driving in dust he damaged the steering slightly and to avoid bigger damage they decided to drive back to service instead of going to the last stage and doing more damage to the car.
9. Last year he also won Estonian Winterrally, South-Estonian rally and won Gr N in Viru Rally
10.Finished second in Talsi rally in Latvia. He had puncture on the last stage and lost the win by only 3-4 seconds.
Practically he has won 6 rallies (at least in his calss)
He has finished 2nd only once
Has used superally once in Portugal
Retired twice due to the technical problems
and has had two offs due to mistakes by him or codriver
one off as a result of technical failiure.
And it has happened in approximately one year.

The 1993 WRC champions Juha Kankkunen and Nicky Grist teamed up again to reign supreme at the Rallye de Portugal Revival, driving a Ford Escort Mk2 using Pirelli's K2 gravel tyres. The rally was run in conjunction with the WRC competing on the same stages. Well done guys.
A full report and a blow by blow account from Nicky will be in his next newsletter. If you want subscribe to his free newsletter, please mail [email:23w9w29o]news@nickygrist.com[/email:23w9w29o]

Im a Loeb fan, but really pleased for Ogier. seems a really nice guy, and very very quick, like JML, just he seems to have learned much quicker. From the second half of last season, Ogier has been great to watch. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

Sordo will never be allowed to win, as long as he is in THAT team, opposite to the case of Ogier because despite being under the rule of Quesnell, Ogier scores points for other team, besides: HE'S FRENCH!.
Seb Jr. would make a mistake accepting the seat for 2nd driver on official team because it has all this "support role" restrictions, and his talent could be wasted
My 2 cents.
Cheers

Ehm. In what way would he be more restricted because he scores points for the works team? If Quesnel wants Loeb to score maximum points and Ogier to slow down to make it happen, it will happen regardless if Ogier is in the works team or junior team. If anything, he would be allowed more room to score points if they are given to the primary team.
We've already seen Ogier sacrifice himself this season, remember?

After spectating on the rally i was really impressed with the stages ,they had a bit of everything, and Rally Portugal defernately deserves a permanent place on the calendar .The only problem we had was with the police not letting you walk on the stages even 3 hours before the first car!
Ogier fully deserved the win and anyone that can clean the road for 2 days and still win is going to become a world champion very soon.I am not a Citroen fan but full credit to them for allowing the 2 Seb's to battle it out to the end.

We've already seen Ogier sacrifice himself this season, remember?
But didn't Quesnell and Wilson made an agreement on no more "tactics" (cheats i would call that) that meant that Only team boss can tell his TWO drivers what to do, but not interfere with "other" teams, and as far as i know citroen junior has a different team boss than citroen total, besides, Sordo is not french!
And i think that Quesnell can afford to let any other driver win "a few" rallies this season, since its been demonstrated by ford drivers that they can't match in consistency to citroen drivers, hence Loeb could very well be given the world drivers tittle already at this point in the season, and no one could argue that.
This kid Ogier has all that takes to beat Loeb in the world record books, hope he don't make the stupid descision to go to Ford...
Cheers
PS. The Hirvonen situation is worriying, he had the speed, and seems that the stupid car is doing to him what the 307 did to Gronholm, and maybe too to JM

Well apart from getting my arms and legs shredded on the bushes it did have its moments, we found a great access road and it really saved us on the first two days. I just found the whole thing with them totally rediculous :s One of them actually walked along the road watching us walking along a field to make sure that we weren't on the road... Was the only thing I thought wasn't so good about an awesome event  We drove a few of the stages and they are really incredible, found "Latvala's Bend" and it is even scarier than it looks on tv..... gees what a lucky guy :s
