Another great day's driving by Ogier.
This whole building a nice lead on day one, dropping back on day two, setting up a nice fight for leg three thing reminds me of someone.....
Also a nice drive by Neuville. I think only his third or so gravel rally and comfortably at the head of jWRC.

Wow! Step by step he's improving every event!
So far it's been SS@ now he makes it all the way to SS$ before going off...

Just a few more years and he'll be going off on the last stage, and then all you furriners better watch out.

It seems like Fiesta suspension is better. On the other hand Fabia has better engine. On most of gravel events it's more up to suspension in my opinion.
On the other hand we shouldn't forget that Nasser won some 2/3 of all stages already in Jordan after he had a two day long training with Hänninen. In New Zealand he was running with no spares so he had to be careful. Fabia also isn't a car which is very easy to drive right from start. My friend who is co-driver in Fabia, told me that it takes some time to get used to it and especially it's extremely sensitive steering.
In the end Fiesta is more expensive than Fabia so it shouldn't be slower :)

For me it currently seems that his previous team took a bit big bite and the car just was not the best prepared. The difference between those cars seems to be minimal.

I don't really bother paying that much attention to the top of the leaderboard until end of day 2/start of day 3 of WRC gravel rallies. Until then it's all just a bit of messing about.
sWRC is at least interesting to follow in the meantime because they don't have the sweeping problem.

The Ford reputedly has very good top end power but I think the Skoda is better on torque than the Fiesta (or any other S2000)
Hänninen with Ogier enjoying better stage conditions as the cars ahead cleared the dust from the surface.
I think the roads were sufficiently swept not to affect the leading sWRC crews, and besides Hanninen was running so far down that the roads were likely becoming rutted and he may have been in the dust of slower cars too.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.

Ogier yes, Hänninen no. After 40 cars the road is in very bad shape. Also 2WD cars of JWRC drive completely different lines and after them 4WD cars have to sweep again.

Latvala didn't seem faster either. Of course we can assume that Ford drivers are just much weaker but my feeling is that Citroen must be at least little step ahead. Petter's car could be at the same level with Fords.

There´s a point here. We have seen the Ford drivers very equal citroen-boys in recent one or two years back. Exception for Loeb who has been a little faster. This year thou there is a sudden change which I believe you can´t blame the drivers.
Either Ford cars isn´t in the shape as before or the citroens has been developed in one way or another.

It seems that Ford has lost something or they are on the same level as last year, but Citroen has now faster car.
I remember that Wilson and Quesnel made a gentleman agreement last year that teams are not developing their current World Rally Cars anymore. Unfortunately "The French agreement" can be different what we would imagine and I do not trust Quesnel in this case...

I think it wasn`t an agreement, rules state that you can`t homologate new parts for current wrc cars in 2010, and wasn`t it Australia last year, where Citroen had so many new parts on the car, that they forgot to add all the necesary paperwork to the homologation. I also think that Ford is slower this year, especialy after the live footage, where you could see Miko pushing just as much as Citroens, it`s just that the times aren`t there. Of course you can`t tell a cars speed just from looking at it, but it gives you an idea.

rp is correct, they made an agreement, the agreement was to stop the development on the WRC car in favor of the new car type, but theese kind of agreements are impossible to control, they base on honesty.

Mikko said that he can't take more risks than he takes now... Tires are too warm and getting slippery and car is sliding a lot... So it's looks that, reason or another, setup of the car is not very good.
It's quite funny to see how true is that you are that good how was you last race... Last two year's Mikko was only driver who can challenge Loeb. And now some said that he is even worse than P.Solberg... And Petter was few year's quite poor... Suprisingly he was getting better as soon as he get Citroen...
So at the moment I think that Citroen does homework better than Ford... And for the sport, it's never good if there is only one team who can win...

Yeah, it's so good to have Petter back in the top, where he belongs. His change in speed from Subaru to Citroen clearly shows how much the car matters.
I never doubted his skills, and to those who doubted: Up yours! :)

I never doubted about the skills of Petter Solberg. Don't forget he was World Champion in the past, while Hirvonen still isn't (and never will be) after so much chances. The next World Champion after Loeb retired from rallying, will be Ogier or Latvala and not Hirvonen.

Agreed. I see Ogier leading by about 5s into tomorrow, with Sordo and Petter about 20s off the lead, and Mikko about 35s off the lead.

]Ogier for sure deserves to win. Question is if he is allowed to defend against Loeb tomorrow.
I don't think Citroen will implement tactics to ensure another victory for Loeb, because they won't need it. Loeb will most probably pass Ogier tomorrow, and Ogier will finish second. May be Petter will push for the second place, but not for the victory, I think...
awake27
29th May 2010, 16:46
I don't think we will see team orders to change positions, I will be very surprised. Loeb has a healthy lead and even 2nd place is doing the job to open a gap.
More likely they will race 100% at the first loop tomorrow and if Loeb doesn't decrease the gap enough, they will hold positions.
After all, Ogier is the next Sebastien of Citroen and after losing the victory in NZ right at the end, I doubt Quesnel will want to deny him a fair chance to snatch the victory.

i think that the citroen will only implement tactics to keep things in order and not have Loeb/sordo crashing....so i think they are going to let them go through the first loop and then order a position hold. Maybe they allow sordo to push the whole day to keep hirvonen behind.

Loeb never had a French teammate that was able to beat him. So letting Ogier win good be a better publicity and marketing move than letting Loeb - again and again and again and again - win.
