Missed the start by some half an hour and seems like lot of action happening on the first stage already. Shame for Petter (and my pickems as well), but I guess he can rise up to 5th-6th if everything goes well from now on.
As for Sordo winning in Spain, I would guess that'd be fine by the team since Loeb have wrapped up the championship already in Alsace.

A good rally so far after the 1st stage. Shame about Petter but thats rallying. Loeb also seems to be very strong and Ford´s are improving, thats nice to see.
What comes to Block, by splits between 3rd and 4th he lost 23 seconds when guys like Kimi and Wilson just from 4 to 5. Al Qassimi lost just 8 so something must have happened. His time without that would been close to Kimi I would say.
Block reported that he got stuck in a junction somewhere and lost alot of time.
Stage blocked??
Ostberg was fastest S2000 car to split 2

Mirek

It's up to stewards. They can give any time they think that is good but of course teams can try to appeal.

"SS3: After a good start again, the car just stopped after hitting some branches in the vineyards, and it would not restart. They did not understand what happened, but after consulting the team they eventually found the problem connected to the fire extinguisher. A branch must have hit the extinguisher button that is between bonnet and front screen and released the extinguisher. That cut all electricity. They lost 5 minutes, unfortunately, in this incident."

Two things: firstly, how come your attitude towards Petter has changed? Last year he was one of those 'nobodies' according to you! Personally I like your new attitude much more ;)
Secondly, of course you're right. Should get to 6th in two or three stages if he's pushing. On the 48km stage he could take up to 30s from Mikko and JML I think so pretty soon Petter will be within 'puncture distance'. Trouble is, I can see Petter pushing so hard he will end up with another puncture, or worse a proper crash and retirement. At least all his bad luck is coming today - hopefully full-attack in Japan where I honestly believe he will be joint favourite with Loeb.

He'd still be a mile behind though wouldn't he? He'd be about 1m30s off the lead still which for a 'specialist' isn't very good. Reminiscent of Subaru getting Tirabassi as an asphalt specialist, even though he failed to get into the top 10 with regularity!

You're both right - sorry but I was a bit ignorant as I thought Duval had equal machinery to Mikko and JML for this rally. As he has a Stobart 08 car it's an OK performance I suppose then. I'd still expect him to speed up over the next two days though.

I dont understand this whole thing, rally is a professional sport and every driver has a manager, or should have, and the managers job is to do the best possile for the driver he represents.
Every one can become a manager, its just to find a good driver, make a plan, and see that he has enough sponsors so that he can consentrate on the driving. Is that wrong somehow?
But I still would like to hear whos carreer has been blocked, just to get a good laugh.

its not a particular one...its just doesn't give the team a choice to change their drivers....especially in a team which is run by M-sport and not from the factory itself so its easy to pump Wilsons pockets with money to keep the ones you want....Latvala would be long gone, and mr hirvonen would not be that safe either from the current results. In any other team running properly after bulgaria and the fiasco of the ford team i don't think the same drivers would be the official ones in germany.
In citroen these kind of stupid things don't happen...if you are not good you get replaced...because the big bosses are watching.

I have no idea what is M-Sports economic situation, or what was the reason behind the dissaster in Bulgaria.
But seriously, no manager can order any teamboss about who drives their cars.

Interesting thing is that in the SWRC there is no tarmac specialist, maybe with the exception of Pons and partially of Prokop (but even Prokop, as he said last year before Barum rally, feels nowadays more confident on gravel, because it´s been many years since he left Czech tarmac rallys).
Would be interesting to see the times of some asphalt specialists. Anyway, still a surprisingly good pace by Sandell and co.
