Hmm, I see there was a lot of "Opel Adam Cup" cars at Rally Erzgebirge 2013. And they are generally not slow at all. So quite success for Opel. Does anybody know any details about this cup and cup cars?(I mean how much it costs for privateer to buy or rent this car etc.)

yes erzgebirge was first round of the opel adam cup. winner was markus fahrner, he´s a bit older now already (33 or so) but was a promising talent some years ago with a corsa s1600. he was setting some good times at rallye germany 2005 with the old corsa for example: eWRC-results.com - results OMV ADAC Rallye Deutschland 2005 (http://www.ewrc-results.com/results.php?e=43&s=560&category=3&t=OMV-ADAC-Rallye-Deutschland-2005) 2nd was florian niegel who also did a few rounds with a swift s1600 and is former winner of the german suzuki cup. 3rd was a guy i never heard from before, marijan griebel...
fahrner and niegel finished 7th and 8th overall btw: http://www.sportas.de/ergebnis/index2.php?inhalt=ergebnisausgabe&rallye=CH13&datei=ZW13
Ergebnis 50. ADMV Rallye Erzgebirge
01. Markus Fahrner/Michael Wenzel 1:25:18,0

10. Marcel Becher/Lennart Hahn +5:07,9
the car costs ready to race 25.000 euro. therfore you get quite a lot, its pretty much a r2 except the engine wich only has 140-145 hp.
i´m looking forward to rallye vogelsberg, it´s my homerallye and the startlist is pretty good for german standards. of course i know the stages quite well. some nice fast and very narrow asphalt parts, some gravel parts and some very fast winding roads. will be some good action i hope! :)

Is there somebody who could give me some spectator tips for Thüringen Rallye? I will visit one my colleague in Bad Rodach in that time. He has never been to any rally but he is interested to go. I would like to show him that it's exciting sport but it's not so easy when I have never been to this particular event or any other German one :) Preferably some safe places and easy to reach. We will have his children with us.
Thank You in advance

Unfortunately I doubt there is a big interest in DRM in Germany. We have a factory close to a Thüringen rally area and I don't know a single person who would at least once spectated. All local colleagues I spoke with don't even know that some rally is held there (even one who follows motorsport and regularly attends for example DTM)...

I belive you Mirek, I also know some guys from Germany, working for Porsche AG and they do not have any clue over many 911 racing in their national championship (good forbid to ask them who is Vallejo, Tuthill, Nantes....). On the other hand they know everything over German football legauge......shame and patetic...

Do you think the other Porsche will become FIA R-GT ? That would grow the number of cars in this category ... and maybe give some other competitors for the RGT Cup.
the ones which are used in Germany (Noller, Stölzel, ...)
No. Nobody will do that. Small interest of black Born2Drive 997 that is running by Noller workshop but I think they will also withdraw. To much invest for less power and performance without international plans.
There is one nearly ready r-gt Porsche 997 never rallyed at motopark.com for sale or rent. Same spec as Zeltner car. I wonder why the Czech squad didnt buy that one.

About Fabian Kreim: he has the luck Skoda Germany invest a lot in him; he drives in 2016 the German championship, the Asian-Pacific rounds, already 2 rounds in Czech from one of them was the Barum ERC round and also the German WRC round. And when the competition is strong (WRC & ERC) you can clearly see he has still a long way to go to reach the top.
Skoda gives him also a semi-factory car and that's why he's a bit faster (on the straights) against a privat driver like Riedemann. I think Riedemann (and Aaron Burkhart) are the most talented drivers in Germany. Sepp Wiegand was also nothing special, like Kreim a lot of rally's and support but in the end it was clear he wouldn't make it to the (even the ERC) top.
Mirek

Wiegand had good speed in his last ERC season and what is important he didn't reach his performance peak. You can go event by event through his international starts and You can find reasonable progress everywhere until Škoda kicked him out. Frankly for me it's a bit sad story as he had 5 podiums and only one accident in ERC in 2014 out of 8 starts and till the last event he was in the fight for the title against Lappi. Seriously I can't see how somebody could expect more when he had no podium at all in 2013 but obviously it wasn't enough...

Retired for example: Kreim (Fabia R5) - crash, Dinkel (Fabia R5) - broken suspension, Knof (208 T16 R5) - crash
German ASN decided to penalize Fabian Kreim for the incident from Vogelsberg Rally where Kreim didn't stop at the scene of serious accident of Christian Riedemann. Kreim has to pay fine 5000 Euro and he lost also all points from Vogelsberg Rally (final results of the rally stays).
Michael Wenzel, co-driver of Riedemann is said to be so badly injured that his career is over. Christian Riedemann may be fit for rallying around the end of the year.
Anyone knows more details? Mainly of the discussions about the safety procedures, as I heard it's big discussion about it now in Germany.
Some criticize the rule of the next car having to stop after a heavy accident of the former car if there is no OK-sign (and as it was the case in this incident).
Some criticize the rule of the next car having to stop after a heavy accident of the former car if there is no OK-sign (and as it was the case in this incident).
Priority should be safety. And usually next car is the first on scene of accident and is first who should help or call the emergency...
On the other hand, in WRC nobody takes care about it. Everybody takes car only about themselves and dont stop at the place of accident, only in case the road is totally blocked and they cannot continue. Which is one of the reason why I dont like WRC...

The Var mountain stages suited the 306 Maxi better. On let's say Touquet stages, which are more similar to German stages, he would not be competing for the victory. The smooth flowing mountain roads is where the maxi cars excel.

Sad thing... Even in such rally, where the level of competition is far from impressive, Marijan Griebel can only achieve 4th place overall...
Final results of AvD SACHSEN RALLYE 2018:
1. Kalle Rovanperä/Jonne Halttunen (FIN) Skoda Fabia R5 1:04.54,1
2. Dominik Dinkel/Christina Kohl (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +1.07,6
3. Sepp Wiegand/Anne Katharina Stein (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +1.19,8
4. Marijan Griebel/Alexander Rath (D) Peugeot 208 T16 +1.38,4
5. Christian Riedemann/Michael Wenzel (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +1.55,5
6. Peter Corazza/Jörn Limbach (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +3.35,5
7. Carsten Mohe/Alexander Hirsch (D) Renault Mégane Maxi +3.36,3
8. Roman Schwedt/Christoph Gerlich (D) Peugeot 207 S2000 +4.50,5

An interview with Kalle Rovanpera:

Well, many time penalties were given, so the results are a little bit falsified.
If you remove them it would look like that:
1. Kalle Rovanperä/Jonne Halttunen (FIN) Skoda Fabia R5 1:04.54,1
2. Dominik Dinkel/Christina Kohl (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +37,6
3. Christian Riedemann/Michael Wenzel (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +1.05,53
4. Marijan Griebel/Alexander Rath (D) Peugeot 208 T16 +1.08,4
5. Sepp Wiegand/Anne Katharina Stein (D) Skoda Fabia R5 +1.19,8
Still fourth, but not that far behind Kalle anymore. Moreover, I think that Griebel isn´t that much better than Riedemann or Wiegand. All of them are pretty mediocre...

Both Wiegand and Griebel are rather good drivers. Their issue is same - they had a chance to show themselves on the international scene but they didn't manage to stay there and afterwards they struggle to get a ride here and there, most of the time without proper testing etc. Talent alone doesn't guarantee anything and except few countries it's not enough even for winning on a national level.
Let's not forget that Wiegand nearly managed to take the ERC title from Lappi and that Griebel managed to win ERC U28. Those aren't easy achievements but they are pretty impossible to achieve without properly supported and funded campaign.

How is that a falsification?
Come on Mirek. This SSS’s penalties are truly a falsification of the rally spirit. SSS’s are only a show for the public; their sport value is zero and they shouldn’t be deciding a rally result. What’s the point of going flat out on real stages and then being subject to a penalty for throwing down (sometimes by a simple touch) a fragile barrier? Will the public and the organizers be happy if drivers start to do the SSS’s in slow mode to avoid problems?
It's time to get a proper solution for this. Nowadays it's rare to have a rally (at any level) without SSS's polemic penalties. It's really ruining the sport.
Mirek
27th May 2018, 22:34
There could not be any SSS penalties because there was not even any SSS in the rally (except one street stage I believe but the penalties were not from that one).
Neither Dinkel nor Griebel got the penalty on SSS. Both got them on normal proper stage (onboard of that stage from 2012: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E7BSI9KPxk ).
I don't know how it is in Germany but we have very clear rules regarding chicanes and everybody knows them. The chicanes have standard shape and also are not made of paper. To get 30 seconds penalty here in CZ You need to brake straight through (here). For moving one component of the chicane from it's base (painted on the road) You get 5 seconds. Last but not least the chicanes are not there for fun but to slow down the cars in places where there is high risk of dangerous accident or of a damage caused to the third party (typically entrances to the villages and passes through them).
Both Wiegand and Griebel are rather good drivers. (...) Let's not forget that Wiegand nearly managed to take the ERC title from Lappi and that Griebel managed to win ERC U28. Those aren't easy achievements but they are pretty impossible to achieve without properly supported and funded campaign. Well, your definitively right. Maybe Wiegand would be competing in WRC today if he would have got the support he deserved.
How is that a falsification?
Not hitting chicanes and being late at TC is surely part of the game - and it should stay like that. BUT: If we´re talking about pure speed we should remove the penalties to see how fast somebody really was.
Riedemans car didnt start bevore the start of the rally out of service area for at least 2mins
All leading drivers got their penalties from chicanes in proper countryside stages, not SSS. Theay were needed to take out some speed before a village and near a lake i.e.

Don't agree. The penalties must be in place because otherwise drivers tend to ignore the chicanes. As already pointed out the chicanes are not there for fun. They are safety features and as such they shall not be ignored. The whole story with chicanes can be taken more seriously than in WRC where the penalties are more or less random. It is possible to make a system like we have in our country. Here everybody understands why the system is in place and no penalty orgies happen.
