Wikinger rally, first round of DRM, is beginning today. Four ss this evening, and eight more ss tomorrow. Sandro Wallenwein and Hermann Gassner are likely to be the main german favourite drivers, aside danish ones (Madsen, Jensen, etc). It´ll be interesting to follow Bernhard (Porsche) and Mohe (Megane) paces.

I can't believe Mohe is threatening the danish 207 S2000s on SS1 :s

My fault! I´m afraid I missed Herbold and his Fiesta s2000

After three stages, Herbold is clearly faster than Wallenwein. it´s a shame he doesn´t run DRM. Let´s wait for Mohe and Bernhard

Wallenwein loses a lot of time at third stage. No chances for top three at all

Bernhard?? As in the Porsche/Audi LMP driver Timo Bernhard....?? I remember reading both Bernhard/Dumas would be Rallying this season but wasn't sure it would be this early seeing as the Sportscar season has started.

Retirement of Carsten Mohe in SS9 Wikinger Rally :mark:

morganmilan
26th March 2011, 16:59
Really difficult indeed to follow the reults of Wikinger rally. Last stage is now on the run. Up to now, best time for Bernhard, and Herbold is supposed to have won the rally with his Fiesta s2000, ahead danish drivers Madsen and Jensen (both of the with s2000), then Wallenwein, and Gassner. It´s a shame Mohe´s retirement, but so is rallying. However, the Megane has great potential imo (better dry tarmac, of course). Wallenwein maybe german champion this season, but, with a championship without Herbold, MWallenwein, Kahle, etc, it would be a very devaluated crown.

Great result for Mysliwietz. Fifth amongst german drivers, and fastest 2wd driver!

morganmilan

And DRM standings after Wikinger: SWallenwein (29), Mysliwietz (24), Gassner (23)...A rather pretty little representative list, imho

Brian told me, that it was the same car, he used once last year in the final Danish Championship rally. It is chassis number 050 - but I did not notice the reg number in Wikinger.

But I have checked pics from the Danish rally last year and there the registration is EC 188 NX

i have a litlle doubt about one car.
Sandro Wallenwein used an Octavia WRC at Germany Rallye Championship 2006...after that he sold it but my question is...where was the car in 2005?
Thanks ;)

darkstar
2nd April 2011, 13:35
yes, good to see niegel back, its the car from jürgen stehr. but somehow its also disappointing, a talented young german driver with no real future, once again.

also nice to see horst rotter giving a comeback, i guess its the car stebani was driving in 2009/10, the group n corsa. would have been better with the s1600 of course ;) as far as i know he still owns the s1600.

@katxal: i´m sorry, but i have no idea where the car came from or where it went to.

darkstar
2nd April 2011, 14:26
i just noticed that in the startlist something must be wrong, rotter´s car does not belong to division 2, whether its s1600 or group n car. both would start in division 3. i first thought the group n car would start in div. 2 but it doesnt, so its open yet if its grp. n oder s1600 corsa, i really hope its the s1600, he was always great with that car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yat7VGvTyQQ

How did Mohe compare to the fast Corazza in the Mitsubishi ?
Corazza had got quite rather bad luck in this rally. He made a mistake wlth stamping at controls on Friday and he was strongly penalized with five minutes. So the rally was over for him. He went flat out on Saturday instead making all eight fast times, and cutted down Mohe´s advantage from 6 min to 3 min 40 sec, but he made only the fourth final position. So, we can say, Corazza was clearly faster than Mohe, on the roads at least.

On the video I also saw that Corazza had a puncture on that superspecial kind of stage, he was catched by Mohe at that place. So that is extra time Corazza looses. But again, many gravel roads are not ideal for the Megane, still in early development. I hope that one day sooner or later the Megane will be able to follow the classic N4 cars.

That´s right HaCo. He suffered from a puncture and lost more or less a minute. He could have got a place on the podium if not.

Mohe, with his Megane, fighting for seventh place against an...Opel Ascona :D

morganmilan
16th April 2011, 17:44
In the rally Vogelsberg no final surprises. Gassner passed over Dobberkau and achieved the fifth place. Easy winning for Herbold. Wallenwein, second within more than two minutes, and Schuhej, third, with a Lancer Evo VII. Mohe, seventh, and another 2wd winning for Mysliwietz. Therefore, DRM goes on with its absurd standings: Wallenwein gets an increasing advantage as leader, but Herbold wins all the rallyes

Wim_Impreza
16th April 2011, 18:12
Indeed, that is not normal that Herbold isn't leading the championship. It was his last DRM rally of the season if his calendar is right on his website.

Sorry to say this, but the level in Germany isn't very high as you see that Herbold wins so easy and that Schuhej is third overall with an Evo VII. :( Some young German talented drivers disappear with lack of budget, while very experienced drivers can do the whole championship...

Right as usual, Wim. The level isn´t certainly very high and we have a quite rather veteran generation of drivers who go on running the season, as young talented drivers, as you said, get being dropped aside. I told you once that I´ve always been very jealous of your belgian rallying scene ;)

Thanks again for your nice reaction. I really hope Herbold can do good results and it is nice that Ypres and the ADAC Rallye Deutschland are on his program. He will learn a lot in this rallies and I really hope he can do more interenational rallies next year, but I know that all depends on the budget.

I must say German people are making very nice program books and the drivers and teams have much more postcards or posters than in Belgium. :)

The general standings of DRM after Vogelsberg: Wallenwein (61), Mysliwietz (48), Gassner (47), Abendroth (40), Wiegand and Griebel (35). Because of the scoring system, the last three drivers are very highly situated at standings, in spite of not having general points at all, only class points

I really don´t know if it´s a deliberate strategy, but the result seems to be like that. You´re right. Although I remember Skoda as one of the main sponsors in the Wikinger, the first DRM round. I actually thought it was a "sign" of works Skodas entries, but it wasn´t

28th April 2011, 15:44
yes...probably scarred, gettting totally beaten up at barum is enough already ;) i dont know what they think all this is good for. they wont be able to fight for anything, wallenwein is really not a good driver (in my opinion, only look at monte, it says all) and kahle was also never that good but is also not bad. but both got beaten by herbold in his first drive ever with the privately entered fiesta, after both, wallenwein and kahle, had done a full drm season with the skodas. now kahle is also getting older, isnt taking mutch risks anymore(probably they also have not so mutch money in the background) so i guess theyre probably just aming for "finnishing"...at least kahles driving style is spectacular usually(especially with wrc´s he´s really nice).

this weekend´s the next run for DRS, the rallye wartburg, start is on saturday evening.

startlist here (http://www.mc-eisenach.de/scripts/dbfiles/62557/480881a325445a14594e6200811caa82/20110803%20Nennungen.pdf)

stagetimes here (http://www.sportas.de/ergebnis/index.php?inhalt=ergebnisauswahl&rallye=WA11)

really interesting entries are egon kaur who leads wrc academy, and sepp wiegand who will drive riedemanns fiesta r2 at rallye germany. both use the rallye as a test. i consider wiegand as one of the best(or maybe even best) german talent at the moment. he´s never driven sutch a powerfull car yet, but had very good results with his suzuki swift group n. for example drove at rallye rouerque(first rallye outside of germany) and set lots of fastest times in the french suzuki cup and also was faster then twingo r1 cup drivers on several stages. so im very exited how fast he will be compared to kaur. are there tarmac rallye´s in estonia? is kaur used to tarmac?

Franky
5th August 2011, 13:51
There are no tarmac rallies in Estonia. Only some stages are driven on tarmac and those are basically the super special stages because they take place in the city/town.

ah ok, thanks. so he probably has almost no tarmac experience i guess...

Kaur has driven the Almere Rally in the Netherlands once ;)

darkstar
7th August 2011, 12:44
i visited wartburg rallye yesterday, must say kaur was quite on the limit, at last on one place he was very spectacular. but as a german i´m also a bit proud that sepp wiegand can keep up with him. he was also faster on some stages then kaur. it´s the first time he drives the fiesta and its only the 2nd season he´s driving rallye in his life, he´s only 20 years old now. on he other hand kaur of course has not mutch tarmac experience as we know now, so i maybe should not overrate this. but let´s see what the german academy round will bring.

and last but not least, here´s my video:

He can e-mail to [email:13jnc72z]info@rallyefestival.de[/email:13jnc72z] or call to Tel. 0171-5415811 (9.00 until 21.00 hour)

The entry form is here: http://www.rallyefestival.de/pdf/Nennformular2010.pdf (he can ask for an English version as I don't think they have a French version).

Their post address is this:
VG High Forest Rallye Festival
Wolfgang Heinz
Hochwaldstraße 14
66679 Losheim am See

When the driver subscribe before 25.10.2010 the cost is 120 euro, otherwise it is 160 euro. Maybe the entry costs are lower for foreign drivers.

This plan is also useful: http://www.rallyefestival.de/pdf/Anfahrt_Landal.pdf

http://www.rallyefestival.de/pdf/Ausschreibung_HFRF_2010.pdf

The rally is 80,9 km long including 5 SS over 34,70 km. There is 78 % gravel.

Great photos Jolle1982.
My photos today online too.
Our trip/race in Lausitz went quite an good althought a lot of happenings: 2 times off road (day 2 first ss and time lost was 55seconds), in one SS 5km before the end lost the brakes, 20seconds time penalty because service time limit, and a LOT OF dust in the stages.
After that we won the group N and overall result was 8.th position.

Two questions: On the last pictures, where exactly is the road where the cars continue, because I can't see any. Then.... the picture IMG_9035.JPG (between Trabant and Mazda 323), is that car allowed as hand luggage by most air carriers? What car is that anyway ... a Fiat 127 or similar?

Stupid thing with helmets and Hans - how is that even possible? Hope you are covered.

HarriK

Hartusvuori:
-the road continues in that 90degree junction straight to the left (right side of the photo). Inside was grass and the road came very soft very soon. (last driven stage number 12). The start of the stage was just 50m to the left of the photos. They drove something like 3km course 2times there and then little road to the finish.
- that Fiat is 126p

LOL :) It is Fiat 126P produced in Poland in the eighties. I know it is hard to believe, but they even used to compete as factory cars :)

Anything from hillclimbing (traditional) to lawnmower racing (different!), karting or buggies...anything on four wheels. In one word: Zeltner is one hell of a driver!! To drive a rear wheel drive car so fast (GT3 in rally trim can reach up to 240 km/h) on village roads, sometimes wet by rain (and belive me, 911 dos not like wet surface), and then go flat on gravel, you got to have bull testicles....You are the men, Ruben!!

Now 66 crews on entrylist Pfalz Westrich Rallye ;)
What about the Belgians  normally Westrich was first round of the Junior Citroën Trophy Benelux(using DS3 R1s too)...

Why are they only 38 on the "start line" of this evening's SS1 Pfalz Westrich Rallye(they were 65 on entrylist)
Are the others forfaits or scruteneering isn't over yet

Things are pretty bad right now, with Sachsen Rallye organizers walking out from the DRM (joining the rival DRS) and only 2 (T-W-O) teams signed up for the German championship right now. Apparently also Hankook's bid for becoming the spec tire supplier has backfired in a big way.

So I wouldn't be particularly surprised to see more forfaits.

In fact scruteneering was in live on the ZNTS website: 61 crews were accepted ;)
But already some retirements though: Foxius, Zeltner, Hunziker :mark:

Why SS6, 7 and 8 Wikinger Rally cancelled this morning
Just returned home from a very snowy Wikinger Rally. The organizers had snowploughs at the stages 4 hours before the start and they managed to clear both SS 5 and 6 (which should also be SS 7 and 8). SS 5 went as planned, but a very strong wind and even more snow meant, that it was impossible also to keep the access roads to the stage clear, so it would not be possible to get the rescue vehicles through in case of an accident. Thus they were cancelled for safety reasons. Same happened to SS 12 and 13 in the afternoon (and also to SS 4 the night before).
