EDIT: At first split.

A.F.F.
15th February 2009, 08:23
Yes... this really is the last chance to strike back at Loeb. Go Mikko GOOOO!!!

He can't hear you from this far away

A.F.F.
15th February 2009, 08:28
It doesn't matter. Loeb incresing pace towards the end of the stage. Results going to be plus minus nothing :mark:

jonkka
15th February 2009, 08:35
They've got radar?

Sulland
15th February 2009, 08:39
Yes the orgainzers of RN have a radar on that stage !

Petter had 208 km/h and is fastest !

But that the drivers are getting the splits into the car, and are adjusting according to that is irritating - they need to stop that !!!!!!!!

Back to basics in WRC !!!

I am listening to Norwegian Rally Radio, and they are updating the WRR guy on times and speed !

Dejan
15th February 2009, 08:41
Solberg:208km/h
Sordo:206km/h
Hirvonen:202km/h
Loeb:194km/h

15th February 2009, 08:53
I also saw, funnily enough... a Yellow C4...

But watching Day 1 & 2 coverage... only minimal coverage of the only Subaru in the Rally of Mads and then a split second of this yellow C4... and some nice coverage of the Fabia... but then an incident..

If anyone who has a good quality picture of P-G Andersson would like to let me use one, I'd be very happy. PM or e-mail [email:1gksfhtb]jonkka@juwra.com[/email:1gksfhtb]

I'll see what I have, but it won't be before tonight.

This is it, will Mikko make a fight ???

KKS
15th February 2009, 10:55
I think no... Seb should control rally at his hands

A.F.F.
15th February 2009, 10:55
Alright, the direction is right. Mikko 0.4 faster at split 1.

Sadly I can. If you were wondering if Colin Clark's gloves were machine washable or not it turns out they're not, they must be handwashed.

That is of course way more interesting than the fight for the win between Mikko and Loeb.

A.F.F.
15th February 2009, 11:10
-6.1 .... gotta love this. If not otherwise but Mikko managed to make a rally out of this

KKS
15th February 2009, 11:10
Mikko dangerous fast, but same be at first run too

A.F.F.
15th February 2009, 11:13
I really hope that Mikko made an error or something at the first loop of the day. Because he must continue to push maximum the last two stages. 8.2 seconds is still possible to catch

And ****ing ****. I have to go to work now

pettersolberg29

Mikko -0,2 s...

jonkka
15th February 2009, 11:55
Mikko needs around 3-4 seconds on this one - though this is fastest stage of the rally so it'll be difficult to make any difference.

Mikko is pushing very hard!

tolis
15th February 2009, 11:58

Go Mikko!!!!!!!!

Loeb was too good this rally. Definately takes another psychological edge over Hirvonen who had to believe he had a chance in this one. Also another rally for Loeb to add to his CV of wins.

Overall it was a good rally... the result was unexpected but confirmed that Loeb is the true king.

I hope that Hirvonen stops with those ridiculous tactics of his in the next gravel rallies because it really doesn't help the sport or his already weak image as the second best driver out there. I wish Latvala to gain more consistency and be the no1 contender this year for the title, at least i think he won;t use tactics when he fights for the win.

I fully agree, there has been much more to watch this weekend than in Ireland (also thanks to PWRC).
Let´s hope it continues this way at least!
Yes guys Ireland was boring after the first stage when Latvala went off, Tarmac is no longer competitive for the top position. the WRC is going to be dominated by Sebastien Loeb this year and he may well set a record for winning every WRC round in 2009.

Link to my photo page, 3 pictures from SS5 Kongsvinger, Petter Solberg and Van Merksteijn Jr. and Sr. - especially the last one is pretty up close, taken with 50 mm, not cropped at all. I don't know where the Marshals were ;)

I have many more pictures aswell, but there's a limit on uploading one picture a day, will probably put out more, though. Any wishes? Unfortunately mostly WRC cars.

There is also a few pictures from Rally Norway 2007 there, hit the scrolldown on "Kategori", choose "Motorsport" and then click "Vis" on the right. For Petter Solberg fans, there's a pretty cool picture of the Impreza in the beginning dawn, with glowing break discs. Take it from me, I'm the photographer. ;)

The video and the pictures of this rally are online at my site!
It was a great rally to visit, it was quit cold (-24 at the shakedown), but with good clothing it was okay. Saw the cars at 10 stages and the shakedown, so that is really a lot for a WRC Rally.

You really don`t recognize the greatness in this story when PG took on allcomers in the Fabia, do you?

Who the f... cares about his retirement and wether the car was unreliable or not! So what? PG and the Fabia made more or less a laughing stock of the "establishment" in WRC during two proper and demanding stages in Rally Norway. Isn`t that enough in itself?

Agreed  PG showed great skill and that on certain events the driver is more important than the car (within reason of course) at least in terms of stagetimes.

Misunderstanding Mr. Iskald. I was amazed by the story too (unlike some others) and I'm a total fan of PG.

What I meant is that Gigi doesn't need to drive in small and/or private teams praying that the car doesn't fall into pieces. He has already show what he is capable of. He needs a works seat (yes it's a dream and it's quite far but... you take my point now).

Back in 2005 he made the same PG accomplishment: he made the best performance ever IMHO. Look at his teammate in Mitsu and look at his times in Day 1.
In Day 2 and 3 the car had problems of all kind, and he lost an helluva of time :\ could even get a podium place instead of a 7th

Sulland
18th February 2009, 17:43
But Gigi need a drive.

Might be easier in IRC than WRC these days. But he is a driver that uses the cars he drives to the maximum, so he need one that will last...

I've got a question that some of you expercts might be able to answer.

Conrad Rautenbach was classified as a non-finisher, but the Citroën Junior team still got 2 Manu points becasue he completed SS23. I thought you could only score points if you were classified after Day 3?

Here is CR registred as retired....

...and he's missing is the final results

Can anyone explain why they are able to score manu points if the driver's is registered af "retired"?

Sorry Iskald I didn't realise that was you...... We did take the bumper back to the car in service at the end of the day and spoke to PGA when we gave it back. There was no damage to it at all (or maybe just a scratch where DonJippo squeezed it into his car ;) ) so maybe you lost one of them twice :p :

I just thought this was funny, that you had footage from us losing one of many bumpers. Actually this became a major problem for us during the second half of the saturday and also sunday morning. We were left with only one rear bumper, partly wrecked by one of the italian guys, and there were none other left in the entire service park. Our solution was to dismount the bumper outside of the service area for others to pick it up and take care of it. We did this twice, but scrutineers soon started to take interest in us when they saw we were coming back into service without rear bumper every time. So we were told by someone in race control that we were close to being excluded if they saw us without the bumper one more time. When we came into service midday sunday our mechanics started to mount the bumper again, which wasn`t easy btw. because it was partly damaged and mounts didn`t fit anymore. But strips and gaffa tape works wonders, as everybody in autosport knows! Anyway, we just had the bumper mounted on the car, when three very serious and sinister looking scrutineers arrived in our tent. They just noted that the bumper was on, took a couple of pictures and left the tent. Not a word was exchanged, but we knew we just had escaped exclusion from the event!
